Bridges Wine Bar
Sometimes one good idea leads to another. Such is the case with Bridges. With the success of Music on the Square, we began imagining what could happen next. The location next door (19 North Indiana) was up for sale, so we bought it and began thinking of what would be complementary. We started imagining Bridges as a wine bar offering interesting wines to Greencastle. But we soon added a wood burning pizza oven from Italy and more of a restaurant evolved. Ultimately, the idea of Bridges Wine Bar was born. The basement has become a private dining room called The Cellar, an open terrace area on top of the building, which will be used in nice weather, called The Rooftop, and there will be three fully furnished rental apartments which we call The Lofts at Bridges.
We hope you will like our addition to the Square of Greencastle.
The food was great for the most part. That being said the portions are medium to small for somebody that has an appetite. You should probably order hors d’oeuvres maybe two. We had a calamari appetizer about a third of which was undercooked. We did not send it back because we didn’t feel like we wanted to ruin the experience. My wife said The meal portion was just enough for her.
Having said the food was great already, service seem to be understaffed for a Friday night. This is the only good restaurant in town And it was some sort of depauw function weekend. They were slammed but the management should be forecasting this kind of demand based on published schedules.Although you don’t go there for a fast meal they should be waiting on you hand and foot and in the beginning it was pretty spotty. Also when we got to the door, even though we had reservations, there was a line about 10 deep. We were all wondering where the hostess was. A place like this should have a host or hostess standing there as a good first impression at least.
Great restaurant. Very much worth traveling from Carmel occasionally for Dinner.
We absolutely love Bridges. The food is wonderful. Try the Wiseguy pizza and the Airline Chicken...fabulous! Derek the manager always greets us with a hug and Billy is the best bartender and so friendly! We live in Putnam County and think it’s the best restaurant around. Worth drive if you live in Indy!
Awesome! Always great with service and food. Always amazing!
The atmosphere and food was very good. The 3 people I was dining with had an excellent meal and enjoyed the overall presentation. As a vegan, however, there was no effort made to accommodate my dietary restrictions. In fact, the kitchen refused to make changes or adjust their plating, when requested. As such, I have a very limited meal.
Love this place! One of my all time faves...services was fantastic. Thanks Melissa! Can't wait to return!
The food is well-prepared and served by friendly wait staff. We have not experienced the outside seating yet so we cannot wait until it is warm enough to do so.
Overall, it was excellent. I was disappointed that the shrimp pizza wasn't on the menu!
Great food and drinks. fun waitress
Extraordinary food, great ambience, terrific staff and service, need we say more!
Celebrated my wife’s birthday and enjoyed our meal and the whole experience. The staff made us feel welcome and never rushed though they were quite busy. Keep up the good work!
Fabulous kale salad!
We had a wonderful meal and attentive staff. This was the first time we dined in the cellar and found it to be a wonderful setting. After dining here several times we have never had a disappointing meal and have always had excellent wait staff. We really admire how much the staff helps and supports each other to ensure a great dining experience.
Great service and the food was phenomenal. This was my third visit but the first time to be seated in the wine cellar. It was a bit more intimate and quieter than the main dining room. Very enjoyable!
Great food, lovely staff
We had wonderful food and service!
Fantastic staff that were very attentive without being “clingy”. I had steak frites (medium) that was spot-on with a Cab Sav that paired perfectly. My wife had salmon with forbidden risotto. The salmon had a great sear on it, and the seasoning level imparted good flavor without overwhelming the fish. Risotto was amazing! We had the chocolate torta for dessert that was rich without being heavy - could use a bit more chocolate or even espresso punch, but was a very pleasant way to bring our palates back down from Heaven :). Would HIGHLY recommend!
Excellent every time
This was my second time at Bridges. Have enjoyed each meal. It is fun as a group to try many items and share.
Probably our favorite restaurant in a 50 mile radius!
The pasta dishes are extraordinary, the setting cozy and festive, the wine selection and cocktails are excellent, and the service was top-notch. What more can you ask?
BUSY night, but still our orders were out quickly and were, as always, delicious.
Great food, great service, and wonderful atmosphere!
Excellent food and atmosphere. We had a reservation and our table was ready within 5 minutes from arrival time. The service was great and the food was amazing. Live music was nice too. Overall great experience!
We sat at the bar because there was a band playing next door which made the place louder than normal. Ordered the mussels (great with nice kick) to share and two small plates (both very good). Nice bottle of wine. We were going to get a Rose on tap but it was not chilled enough--this is the second time the white/rose tap wine chiller wasn't keeping up. Otherwise, we were very pleased.
We have eaten here on several occasions and loved it, but tonight we were seated in front of a live band in a new room they opened up. The ambience here is special, but tonight it was so loud we could not talk, and the Bridges atmosphere that we love was completely absent. The food and service were excellent as always, but due to the extremely loud band we had a terrible experience. We will think twice before returning here if this is the direction the restaurant is headed! Hate to see this great restaurant make these unnecessary and negative changes.
Wonderful dynamic menu. Always anxious to see what’s new! Charcuterie plate is amazing. I love the bacon jam!
The tuna tartare, oysters and raviolo were excellent additions to the menu, and the live music was a wonderful treat. Greencastle has the hottest restaurant in Indiana.
Despite multiple apologies by our server, it took 2 hours to receive our meal. For our first visit after multiple recommendations, it was very disappointing. The restaurant credited us for the food, but it will make it tough to want to rush back and try them again.
Our group had a wonderful and enjoyable evening! Having the additional space and listening to the band was a great experience.
Worth the drive, Bridges delivers outstanding drinks and the best pizza in the state. The atmosphere is trendy, comfortable and friendly.
Perfect place for. Valentines Day! Wonderful service and great food! My favorite restaurant for sure!
It wasn’t a normal night at Bridges but pizza was good!
Music was way to loud!
Always a great atmosphere with fabulous food and spirits!
Very good food and service. I have 0 complaints whatsoever.
Great food, great value. Same quality every time we go there!
Loved it. The service was terrific, the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. The food was so good. I would go back in a minute and bring my friends. We had such a great meal.
Two different restaurant areas in the winter. We had eaten in the wine cellar on a previous visit. It was elegant and low noise level. This time, we were on the main floor. The bar and gorgeous copper pizza oven are on this level. Happy buzz of noise and yummy food. We were allowed to take our time and savor every moment.
Would have gave 5 stars on food but the appetizer that we ordered was not what I would have called it, but the steaks we had and salad were absolutely worthy of 5 stars
We love Bridges! This is a big city dining experience in a small town. What could be better? The food and service were excellent and I recommend the meatball appetizer to start.
