Bricco has garnished superlative reviews from food writers in Boston and around the country – Best Guaranteed Meal in the North End and Best Pasta in Boston just two of the most recent accolades.
The talented kitchen team creates “boutique” Italian food, so-called because it is unique, personal and created for a select and sophisticated diner. The food is complemented by an enoteca (wine bar) with an exceptional selection of all-Italian wines.
Bricco also offers a sophisticated late night scene. The chic and energetic bar serves up great one of a kind cocktails as well as brick oven pizza with gourmet toppings such as prosciutto and fresh mozzarella from Italy in addition with appetizer selections.
We attended Bricco for the Boston Restaurant Week and purchased the $33 tasting menu for each of us.
Our waiter was impatient and rushing us the entire time. When my date asked for a wine recommendation, instead of the waiter asking what she likes, he over confidently said “I know what you want”. And proceeded to bring a glass of wine that was exactly what she didn’t want. Points for trying, but maybe just ask first?
The majority of the 6 dishes were hot were poorly seasoned. The polenta in the polenta-ragout appetizer was almost flavorless. The filet was cooked well, but it was such a low quality of meet to begin with and was literally not seasoned with salt and pepper on the outside that it was quite a disappointing steak. This was served with some strange joux or gravy that was not Italian in any way. The plate was finished with wilted watercress, raw, and not dressed with anything. A light olive oil splatter with salt would have been great.
All in all, Bricco try’s to be a trendy, upscale Italian restaurant. But it misses completely in that it’s for people who have money but no taste.
If you’re looking for a great meal there are dozens of other restaurants with better ambiance, better food, better service, that are the same price or cheaper.
Recommend going early, to avoid very loud night crowd. Ate upstairs , and sat us next to bar, which was also noisy . I would recommend asking to sit upstairs, next to window , lovely tables . Food very good with extensive Menu.
Food was great. Service was exceptional. Drink we’re lights out. Any other reasons you need to go?
Food was delicious! Our server was pretty rude and acted like we were doing him a disservice. When we asked if we could get bread, he said only after we order our meals... which was pretty awkward.
We went for dinner during Dine-Out Boston. The food was very good as was the service. Seating was very tight with little to no personal space and the back ground noise was on the high side. Conversation was difficult at times. I would probably not go again, primarily due to the high prices on the regular menu.
I made the reservation online and stated it was our 10 year wedding anniversary. There was nothing special done for us and to make it worse we were seated at a tiny table near the bar where the patrons were extremely loud. We couldn’t have a conversation because it was so loud. We ate our food quickly and didn’t order dessert because we wanted to leave right away. There really should not be any dinner tables near the bar. I could literally pinch someone at the bar by leaning over from our table that’s how close the table was located to the bar. Ridiculous! The main course and drinks were excellent. The crab cakes appetizer was nothing special. The wait staff gave us good prompt service.
Food and service are both excellent. Great location, easy walk to TD Garden for game.
Wonderful dining experience! Will return soon, thank you!
Have been there multiple times. This time the food quality was not to expectations. Nice location.
We sat upstairs against the window facing Hanover. Very nice table. Food and service were as expected, excellent. That said, it was very loud, and unbelievably dark - I understand dark, but this was so dark we were all commenting on it. It was so loud so you had to speak loudly to be heard. We were a young table of 5 and not looking for a quiet night out - but if you are then be aware. Downstairs seemed the same.
The food was good but the main dish, the pork, was overcooked. I went on Restaurant Week so the value was good and the service was very attentive.
Food was great but service was terrible unfortunately. Bunch of servers just talking to each other in the corner, didn't check on us once during the meal. No water refilled, we had empty glasses from first course till we left. Had to get up off my chair to get our server's attention, he was talking to the others in the corner. Food was great though!
Short ribs were too cool. Not hot enough. Carrots tasted like they came right from the dirt. God awful. Surf and turf was okay. Under steak was a bit under cooked but the lobster was phenomenal. I am not sure if I would go back. But the service was great.
Wonderful as usual! Had seafood risotto special--wow!
Our waitress seemed annoyed to serve us. We were not done with our appetizer and our food came out. I had the pasta with lobster. Pasta was hard, meal was mediocre at best. Actually felt sick after eating it. So overrated for the cost
This place is way too loud with regulars at the bar!
Food was just okay for what the ratings are.
Might try again just to see if it was an off night but doubtful.
Food and service was great. It's quite expensive though
Bricco was wonderful - service was amazing, food was delicious!!
Always a pleasure to dine at Bricco!
My daughter and I were in Boston touring schools and she wanted classic Italian with a flair... truffled pasta and squash blossoms were a hit!
One of my North End favorites. Must try the eggplant appetizer & espresso martinis.
Food and service were excellent.
Amazing evening. Little loud tho
My birthday dinner was outstanding thanks to the best waiter in Boston, Wolmar. Wolmar had profound knowledge of menu, and helped my friends navigate through the wine list. He even sang happy birthday in Portuguese. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious and mouth-watering starters. All of the recommendation were exquisite. We tried the zucchini flowers, they were delectable! I highly recommend Bricco in the North End.
Service and food amazing. A true dining experience.
I had booked through open table the day of and requested a table upstairs in the corner . I had just lost my best friend from cancer and wanted to have a nice meal in peace. I arrived and was kindly escorted to a table in the corner upstairs 😊. The waiter was very prompt and attentive. The food was fabulous. I was able to have a few moments of peace and enjoy a meal at one of my favorite places.
Great food and appetizers and delicious wine in a chill setting. Our waiter was very attentive.
Large menu, delicious food and great service. Been to many places in North End and this is one of my favorites.
Food was good and the restaurant was quite crowded for a rainy, cold Tuesday night.
Unfortunately, it is quite cramped and they sit you basically on top of one another so it can be noisy. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals with a few additions needed. The burrata and asparagus appetizer was in definite need of salt and the risotto of the day needed cheese. None was offered and when I asked for and received some parmesan cheese, it was a game changer for the dish! I would go again but not any time soon.
Great as always!
Highly recommend. I can't get myself to walk passed Bricco and try any other spot in the North End.
Great spot- fantastic food. Waitress wasn't very warm but generally, ok. Very loud/full, and a bit pricey. Still a great time overall.
Amazing dinner, everything was delicious and everyone loved their meals. Our waitress was wonderful very attentive and helpful. We would definitely eat here again.
Excellent food and fast service
Great service and great Italian cuisine. The Branzino was excellent.
Food was good, but definitely overpriced. For 2 ppl with 1 appetizer, 2 meals and no alcohol or dessert it was over $100 (which we expected to pay) but the food definitely did not come near the top of our list for Italian food.
Great ambience for a romantic, fun date night in the north end and had a lovely waiter and wait staff was extremely efficient.
Paid $28 for valet parking and waited FORTY minutes for our car to arrive at the end of the night, while we stood in the non existent waiting area... seems like this could be avoided somehow?
Overall experience was good but not great, would not return.
