About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Lively
  • Neighborhood gem
Bricco’s star has been rising steadily since restaurateur Frank DePasquale revamped the menu to feature modern interpretations of regional Italian dishes.

Bricco has garnished superlative reviews from food writers in Boston and around the country – Best Guaranteed Meal in the North End and Best Pasta in Boston just two of the most recent accolades.

The talented kitchen team creates “boutique” Italian food, so-called because it is unique, personal and created for a select and sophisticated diner. The food is complemented by an enoteca (wine bar) with an exceptional selection of all-Italian wines.

Bricco also offers a sophisticated late night scene. The chic and energetic bar serves up great one of a kind cocktails as well as brick oven pizza with gourmet toppings such as prosciutto and fresh mozzarella from Italy in addition with appetizer selections.

We had a reservation for 5 people at 2pm and we were promptly seated. The service was fantastic and the food and cocktails were top notch. I highly recommend the zucchini flowers and farfalle lobster dish. I also tried the Espresso martini for dessert and it was delicious. Great visit overall and will definitely be back next time I visit the North End.

Food was overall good with fantastic pasta and only the apps slightly below expectations. Would recommend the mushroom risotto and to avoid the mussels app. What was disappointing was the seating arrangement as we were seated directly next to the loud HVAC, breaker board and restroom. We asked immediately for a table elsewhere but no luck. Reservation was made two weeks in advance and there was restaurant traffic but did not seem too busy to accommodate a request to switch tables. We ate fast to get out of there sooner than planned.

The octopus was one of the most delightful preparations I have ever encountered. My waiter, Sameer, arranged for us to have his two favorite pastas as a single entree. It was genius. Each of them was a total delight, especially the short rib ravioli. The ambience was just right -- energetic, exciting but not too loud to have a conversation. I could not recommend it more highly.

Would have rated the food outstanding but while 3 out of the 4 dishes we ordered were, the 4th was not. Zucchini Flowers, Eggplant appetizer and Osso Bucco were excellent. Osso Bucco in particular featured really good quality veal in a substantial portion with risotto and spinach. Ricotta Pillows were hugely disappointing - pasta was heavy not light, sauce was nonexistent. Dish was dry and not flavorful. Service was very good but we felt like they were trying to rush us to order and we had to slow them down so we could enjoy our drinks.

We loved our visit to Bricco. Food was excellent. Samir was very helpful with menu. Very kind, friendly & professional. Loved the farfalle with lobster and the pistachio semifreddo was incredible! Our only issue was that our table was in a space that was a bit cramped.
