Brenner's Steakhouse on the Bayou

We celebrated my grandmother’s 84th birthday. Ambience was great. Beautiful scenery. Reservation were made less than an hour prior to our arrival and accommodations were briefly made due to our reservation number increase in size. Hostess staff was kind and courteous and seated us at a beautiful corner table near the windows. Our waiter however was not the best, he actually wasn’t even good...he was just okay. We waited a long time for our food and on several occasions we had to beckon him to tend our table; he was mostly lackadaisical. Apart from service by the waiter, the experience was nice and the management staff did come by as we sat down which supplemented for our waiter. Overall, I’ll return as a customer.
A definite highlight to our visit to Houston. Service was top notch. All the servers were very attentive and the additional check in by-presumably the manager- was a pleasant touch. My hubby has quite the palate for filet mignon and he has had some very delicious meals in his life. After over a half century of life, he tasted the best filet mignon EVER here. I also savored my gulf red snapper and our tuna tartare. Bravo!
Food was delicious and the staff was very attentive while being discreet
Server was outstanding, knew wine menu and recommended a great wine pairing.
Really enjoyed the Valet them as well professional and enjoyed the conversation.
Excellent food, service and ambience. Highly recommend
Stunning setting. The ambience and noise level are perfectly acceptable. The menu looks wonderful. However, when served with lukewarm appetizers and main dishes with garnishes that are dry and overcooked, the establishment falls short of expectations. Is it better than many restaurants in Houston – certainly. But with the competition at similar price points (and even lower) including the original Brenners, this one just doesn’t stand up in the class in which it intends. The wine list does not compete, either.
The service was typical, not exceptional. The steaks were amazing, but the baked potato was luke warm, so the cheese didn't melt. We let them know and they were kind and gave us another one, but it had the same problem. I'm assuming they have the potatoes in a warmer, and it's not hot enough.
Only down side - your whole party must be present to be seating other than that I was completely in love ! The service and food was amazing ! I’m obsessed !
The locale is beautiful. Our food was ok but we expect better quality from Brenner’s. Fries arrived cold. My omelet had an abundance of onions. Their cocktail Ruby Red was very refreshing and tasty.
Awesome food and service!! Highly recommend for a date night!!
I like that they have read the special message that I have put for them and greeted my wife with "Happy Birthday!"
Impeccable service. Excellent menu. It is always a wonderful experience to dine at this unique and lovely restaurant.
Great evening on New Year’s eve!
New Years Eve was perfectly well spent at Brenners, they have a phenomenal wine list, the food was so deliciously prepared, and our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable! Not to mention, I am not a quale fan, but their honey glazed bacon wrapped quale bites, are a must! We will definitely be back. Thanks Antonio for the great first time experience.
We went to Brenner's for New Year's Eve. We were seated by a window, so we had a lovely view. While we go to Brenner's several times a year for special occasions, I had never had the lamb chops. They were the best lamb chops I have ever had - and I have eaten lamb chops at quite a few very good restaurants. The flavor was unbelievable. I will definitely be ordering the lamb chops there again. We had the souffle for dessert, and as usual it was light and eggy and just as high.
New Years Eve
They were overwhelmed at the bar with a private event going on outside. It took 15 minutes to even be noticed and then never again. We wanted to order an appetizer but ended up asking to be seated instead. Our waiter was great, the food ended up being decent, with the exception of the broiled oysters. Those were incredibly fishy and we sent them back. Overall the atmosphere, our waiter, and the manager helped make it an enjoyable evening even though it got off to a rough start. I’m not sure it will be on our places to return to with all the other options Houston has to offer. The location itself offers beautiful views though.
Great meal with excellent service. Our server, Mandy did a great job for us.
My wife had the duck, great and I had steak. I had bone marrow to accompany my steak and it as delicious. Definitely a super special occasion restaurant.
So I reserved my lunch/brunch 2 weeks in advance. I was clear that I was Vegan then I show up and there was nothing prepared as a meal. Even when asked all the chef could do is sautee veggie. I can do that at my house and better. What is the point of giving that info prior to going. I will never go back so disappointed. Truluck's had a vegan meal so delicious.
Great food with a great view. I recommend showing up early before it gets dark to look at the beautiful landscape outside.
Such a gorgeous place! Food and service was excellent! We loved everything about our experience.
Being right along the bayou the location is spectacular with beautiful grounds.
The food was outstanding and there wasn't a person working who was not courteous and outgoing. The service was spectacular, and I mean spectacular.
My only down comment concerned dessert and coffee. We were there for my daughters 25th Birthday and although handled calmly it was clear that they wanted the table for another party. The waiter asked if we wanted to have dessert & coffee on the back porch. As the weather was as nice as the venue it was an easy YES. Should this happen again I may suggest speaking to one person at the table to explain the situation.
Very nice place and excellent food
Just ok. The service was unacceptable. The entrees took way too long to arrive. That happens on a crowded night, but then half the food was cold. Some items were delicious, some just average or not good. I had high expectations, but I wasn’t very impressed. I don’t think I’ll be back. However, the other steakhouses owned by Landry’s are fantastic: Mastro’s is my favorite, and Vic & Anthony’s is a close second.
Was not good
Food was exquisite, great ambiance, and outstanding service.
Awesome experience for my 30th Birthday! They accommodated my party and had amazing service.
Overall a great place. Entrance is extremely crowded and wasn’t really directed where to go or how your notified about your table. Apparently they just come and get you when it’s ready. We waited at the bar outside where it wasn’t so crowded and just ended up eating at the table there. Food was good. Steak was good but I have had better. Scenery is amazing. Our waitress was great as she was serving the bar area. Dinner for 2 with drinks and sides came out to about $200 with a tip. Had the ribeye and date had the filet Mignon. Both were good but not mind blowing.
3 of the 5 orders were wrong. Took 15 min to get a drink. Steaks were tuff. The other Brenner’s is so much better!!!
A bit pricey but overall good service
Excellent table with view. Food and service was great.
Atmosphere great, food delicious and service excellent. We were celebrating 3 birthdays. Very nice evening.
I love the ambience there and the food. The service was also great but I’m a bit disappointed I got charged for dessert on my birthday. I expected something a little more special from such a high end place.
Went for Brunch, but wanted an items served on Dinner menu that was not available.
Sunday's brunch was great. My family enjoyed it and I definitely recommend sitting out on patio when the weather is nice.
Our 5th wedding anniversary .
Our waiter was wonderful
I really went into this expecting excellence, as I'd heard great things. Unfortunately, it was an average encounter at a relatively high cost. With only one glass of wine between us, with a 20% tip, we spent $310 - 2 people. Admittedly, we had some premium plates, but the food quality, while good, just wasn't all that flavorful, tender, or even as good as what I can grill myself at home.
The service was REALLY slow, and I don't blame the waiter for this - even he said the kitchen was backed up (This was a Thursday night, moderately busy), the steaks were OK, but not tender or juicy (I ordered the Akausha strip, my Wife had the small fillet with Lobster).
Just not a special night, but not bad. It just wasn't what I expected at a premium priced restaurant. The ambiance is nice, it has pretty gardens, etc - but kind of loud, and just left me feeling a little non-plussed.
We got to sit right next to the Christmas tree for our annual girls dinner! Beautiful and the lamb chops were off the charts!!
