The burger with duck glaze was amazing... I wish I had gotten it instead of my husband so I could have had more. I enjoyed the lobster risotto too, though. They brought complimentary champagne to the table for a toast since we'd indicated in the reservation that it was our anniversary. A very sweet touch!
Our dinner at Brenner Pass last night was disappointing. The restaurant was very noisy and it was difficult to hear each other at our table for four. My husband was served raw duck and the restaurant did nothing to rectify the situation. We are used to being served medium rare duck and , believe me, this was raw! My lobster risotto did not have much lobster and was peppery. On the plus side, the wine was good and my daughter and her boyfriend enjoyed their pasta dishes. That being said, however, there are too many other good restaurants in Richmond than to spend your time and money in this one.
Very enjoyable evening. We requested a reservation and only seating at the bar was available. Don’t normally like sitting at a bar to eat dinner but there were just 2 in our party so decided to chance it. We were pleasantly surprised. Bar staff was very attentive and the meal was wonderful. Even though the bar was busy, we did not feel crowded and were able to easily converse and enjoy our meal. This was our first visit and we plan to return.
Excellent!! Service, food, atmosphere!!!
The service was excellent. The food was very good too just a bit too buttery for my taste. Overall it was a great experience.
Great food, sweet breads are some of the best I’ve every had. need to make reservations.
Salads were very good but the rest of the food was just ok.
The fondue was not at all like fondue in Switzerland that is mostly gruyere cheese with wine. My husband’s duck was not good at all. It was overcooked and stringy. The wines were good and the cocktails were excellent.
This was our second visit to Brenner Pass. Unfortunately, the food is not good enough to bring us back again.
Great service paired with wonderful food
Went for their NYE fixe price dinner. Each course was wonderful and portions were perfect so as to not "feel stuffed" or have leftovers. Staff was quick and attentive. The menu was exciting and diverse.
What a major disappointment! Went New Year's Eve for the fixed price menu....65 dollars. Menu was so bad. Wife ordered medium rare and steak came out raw. My risotto was awful. And I almost forgot about the horrid celery soup. Lackluster service to boot. At least the movie was good!
Our first time at Brenner Pass was tonight for NYE. The menu was prix fixe, with a decent selection of options. Unfortunately the food was just underwhelming, especially for the price. I had the lobster risotto and it was overwhelmingly peppery. About halfway through I wished I had sent it back honestly, but it was too late for that. Bright spots for the evening were the service, ambiance, cocktails and the tiramisu.
Sub-par. Not worth the hype. Very disappointed in the dishes that we ordered. Probably was an off night, as we came for New Year’s Eve, and the menu was pre-fix. We will not be returning and will not be referring.
Great food and great selection of adult beverages.
Everything was awesome from start to finish!
My first time to Brenner Pass and everything was fantastic. I have been to most of the fine dining experiences in Richmond and this rates with the best. 4 of us dined and everyone's food was incredibly tasty. The chef is a master of sauces, and every dish was cooked to perfection. The small Caesar salad is quite spicy so be careful. The desserts were beautiful and tasty, but none of them really wow'd me. Overall, a great dining experience. Our waiter was unbelievable. He was spot on with describing and recommending meals and drinks, and the service was just impeccable.
A delicious meal - beet appetizer and the pork chop and halibut entrees. All amazing. And wonderful service!
We celebrated the coming New Year with family. Cocktails were delicious, the Fondue (split among 6 people) was a delightful, fun and filling starter and the main dishes were spectacular. We love Brittany Anderson's emphasis on German/Austrian foods and wines. The spacious Alpine atmosphere make this our new favorite restaurant (followed closely by our Church Hill neighborhood haunt - Metzger's). It can be a bit pricey but this is a perfect special occasion restaurant, so splurge and enjoy!!
Beautiful, from start to finish. The best meal everyone in our party had had for quite a while.
Delicious food, kind wait staff and an amazing fondue option- this was a hit on a chilly rainy evening
Great food and service, wonderful cocktails. Special night out place.
Great food. Great service. Just very loud.
`FOR UNUSUAL FOOD OFFERINGS THE DISHES DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS,,,NICE UPBEAT AND EFFICIENT STAFF AND DECOR....HOWEVER, THE QUALITY OF COOKING WAS "OK" ...
RECOMMEND?: FOR AN OVERALL PLEASANT EXPERIENCE. YES.
FOR EXCEPTIONAL TASTE EXPERIENCE .NO.
Great experience for dinner!
Great place to eat. Food was delicious. Wait staff was wonderful. Would definitely recommend
The food and service was fantastic. We really enjoyed the fondue, steak tartar, and chicken liver mousse. We will be back!
Delightful! A dining companion said his scallops were the best he’d ever eaten. The roasted squash is remarkable and my husband raved about his burger.
My husband brought me to celebrate my birthday. We were seated within a few minutes for our 7pm reservation. It is a beautiful restaurant. Our server was pleasant. It took close to 30 minutes after sitting down to receive a glass of wine and cocktail. She apologized for the delay. The oysters gratin were delicious but $12 for 3 oysters is exorbitant. My husband enjoyed the fondue burger and frites. My halibut was excellent especially the parsley cream sauce. The potato side (I don’t recall the name. Fried exterior, soft interior) was tasty but incredibly salty. I only ate half. We were not interested in the desserts offered so we had an espresso and chai latte. We would like to return with friends for fondue and suckling pig.
The restaurant was easy to get to, lots of parking on the street. Reservations a must during the holiday season. Food was great, service was very good. Our waitress new everything about the food and cocktails. There was no pressure to eat and run. We will return.
Great, as always. Sat at the bar this time, which is also very nice.
This place is perfect to celebrate a special occasion or to have a romantic date night. I highly recommend the "Snow bunny" cocktail and the meatballs and gnocchi. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
We love Brenner Pass! The broccolini and beet salad were both amazing this visit.
Great cocktails! Wonderful and unique dishes. Attentive, knowledgeable and friendly wait staff. Would highly recommend Brenner Pass.
Refused to cook a plate with allergens my wife cannot have. We went there thinking it was a high-end place and would accommodate her allergies, but were told their cook would not deviate from his recipe.
Went for birthday celebration. Had reservations and table wasn’t ready for 20-25 minutes. Took 25 minutes to get first drink. Service was poor. One server spilled sauce all around my plate and On table and never bothered to wipe it up. Some food selections good - halibut was great and chicken liver mousse was fantastic but food very inconsistent. I would say in general food is fair but value is poor. With one drink and 1 average bottle of wine meal was $125./person. Very disappointed and won’t be going back.
A unique, rotating menu; curated drink list; and outstanding service combine into a wonderful dining experience. The seasonal offerings and quality of the food is phenomenal.
It's been 3 days and I'm still thinking about the duck breast entree! Absolutely fantastic
Cheese. Meats. Pasta. Wine. So good. Every time I leave I can’t wait to come back.
My meatball dinner was fantastic. Suprisingly, they charge for their bread. One negative was that the draft beer volume is small, I think was about 12 oz.
Great as usual! Though, I wish I’d been warned that the fish came whole, bones and all. It was still good, with a little work, and quite a lot of fish. But, I would have ordered something else as to not be pulling countless fish bones out of my mouth while I ate.
Great Northern European cuisine with style. I will be back.
