Located inside of what was once a Chinese schoolhouse, Brasserie l'Ecole in Victoria, British Columbia now serves high-end French cuisine in a casual setting. The name is actually a nod to this building's former occupation (l'Ecole means 'the school' in French) and the unpretentious atmosphere (a Brasserie is laidback eatery that serves comfort food).

Chef leans heavily on our local farmers, using seasonal ingredients to create a menu that is a callback to the kind of food that was once common along the French countryside. While it changes regularly, Brasserie l'Ecole never strays too far from its classics: steaks, burgers, onion soup and frites. The wine is French, the food is French leaning and the staff are fantastic.

Food was great. The tuna appy is amazing! Drink service was slow, but overall happy and will be back. Really appreciate that new owners are taking rezzys.

The only reason I marked the noise as moderate is because we were sitting by the front door. Everything was wonderful.

We were excited to try Brass under the new ownership. It was awesome to be able to make a reservation. A few kinks for the new team to work out, hope things smooth out soon. We love Brass!

This place was great years ago, and is even better now. Wonderful food and service. Staff look like they wanna be there. Great experience.

First course was slow coming out, at about 45 minutes. Beyond that evening was lovely.

We all had the Burger. It was a good meat , tasting fresh. Fries are perfect but be aware European style Resto so NO Ketchup only Mayo.

Rabbit was the best my husband has ever had - cooked to perfection! And the king cod was also cooked perfectly - kudos!

Fantastic service, excellent food! We had only been once, many years ago but decided not to come back as they didn’t take reservations. Now that they are taking reservations, we wanted to try it again. So much more convenient! We will be back!
