Staff was super knowledable and great recommendation by our server. Food was fresh. Great flavor, great size to share with family
Food was prepared freshly, served hot with great flavor. Seating rules were followed. Noise level was not bothersome. Temperature was a bit cold because we were seated right under a vent. Server was attentive, person who delivered the food was knowledgeable on the ingredients used to make up and prepare the dish. Cooking staff prepared food perfectly.
They were completely out of sushi- every single roll. For half their menu and a reasonably timed reservation, it was a letdown.
It’s pricy, but in my opinion it’s worth every penny. Really outstanding food and a very special place to me and my husband.
Good service, good food a bit pricey but overall would recommend
I have dined at Botika many times over the past 3 years. Always on the leading of San Antonio’s restaurant scene, Chef Geronimo never disappoints with his choice of flavors and selections of new dishes. We dined on their outside patio this evening and the service exceeded expectations. Certainly a must visit if you want to be wowed!
Excellent service. Courteous waitstaff. Mediocre food and overpriced.
Service and food was outstanding. We had the empanadas and gyoza for starters which were amazing but the entrees were absolutely incredible. Between my wife and I we shared the two daily specials which were a sweet & sour eggplant salad and a teriyaki chicken topped goat cheese roll. Both of these meals were incredible and the sushi roll is one of the best rolls I’ve had in my life. We have been coming here for years for date nights and that will not stop any time soon. Exceptional!
The best thing was the potstickers. It’s understandably pricey for the location but overall disappointing. Ceviche was too sweet, braised short rib over salted with too sugary of noodles, and empanadas were lacking. Everything needed some sort of heat or acid.
This restaurant has always had great food. Still does! However it used to be an interesting fusion of South American and Japanese, but now it seems the menu reflects only Japanese fare. They used to have very interesting cocktails that fused these two styles as well but not so much anymore. Maybe it is a COVID thing and the fusion will be back someday?
Excellent food, I highly recommend it.
The Sashimi was subpar, not fresh at all. They were out of tequila for menu drinks, so I ordered a Sapporo beer and they were out of that as well. The pork dish was very good. Was not happy with the sushi.
We ordered a bowl which was supposed to have fish and Asian condiments and hoisin sauce. It came on a board like a sushi roll but with WAY too much rice and barely any condiments. It was horrible. My boyfriend compared it to a chicken pot pie with the crust, chicken, peas and carrots all separated over the plate. Really disappointing experience. I guess that’s why it was the only restaurant available for dinner in the Pearl District
Not the usual menu. They didn’t have the octopus available which was disappointing. However the short rib w/ egg noodles is amazing! Highly recommend this place. It’s my 2nd time visiting and the quality is always good.
Celebrating our anniversary and decided to head to the Pearl. Chose Botika based on their menu and other reviews. Had a real good experience ; food was excellent and our server (Jimmy) was outstanding. Will definitely visit again
Botika has long been a favorite date night spot for us. We had been avoiding due to the pandemic but decided that the time was right for a return. They did a great job of honoring social distancing guidelines. We had to make a reservation and leave a credit card number to reserve. The menu is a scaled down version of their full menu. However, it did not disappoint. The food was tastier and more savory than we remember. I suspect that the chef has spent the downtime tweaking his recipe and the result is a huge win. We can’t wait to go back.
Tasty and wonderful food, a chic sushi fushion with a peruvian style. The flavours and dishes were different from the rest of San Antonio restaurants where I´ve been, but it wasn´t that much surprising. I also expected more items to choose on the menu. We pay around 70 dollars for a three dishes meal for two to share, no wine or cocktails. It was great but I wouldn´t repeat soon.
Excellent service. Delicious food. Incredible friends.
Had a good date. Solid food
Botika is a very nice restaurant in a great location but the food was average and at that price point it should have been better. We probably will not return.
Food on Restaurant Month fixed menu was delicious and plentiful, especially for the price.
This was our first visit and the food, cocktails and service was AWESOME! They did a great job with social distancing.
Had dinner here recently and I will say the food/venue is really great. I would recommend everything on restaurant month (as that is a promotion that is occurring right now).
However the service was not to any of our liking. The servers were not rude, they were in fact polite; the issue was the disorganization that this restaurant has when handing out food. They have a quote of "four kitchens" in this restaurant yet when a dish is completed they immediately send it out, but on a table with a numerous amount of guests, the food never came out at the same time and it was in a fashion where it seemed as if there was not focused on the table tops space -- because with this method there isn't space on the table because they never came to pick up dishes or guests were still eating the previous dish they gave out.
The food would make me go back, but was not a fan on their serving system.
First time dining in and the experience was amazing. Great food, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. We will be back!
It was our first time going and it was AMAZING!!! Food was great drinks for me were ok but my friend loved their drink menu... I would definitely recommend trying. We got almost the entire menu!!!! Go you won’t regret it.
The potstickers, short rib and noodles and cocktails were outstanding. Definitelty revisting. The wok & grill items on the menu are very generous and filling for two.
Had the best server! Very impressed
I used to love botika, it’s where I took my girlfriend on our first real date, and we had an amazing time. I recall the delicious steamed buns, these wonderful empanada type things and all around wonderful food and service, not to mention amazing drinks. But this last time you can tell they had to cut back due to corona and I’m more than willing to be understanding ,but this was just a sad reflection of what the restaurant once was. Cooks were doubling as servers and hosts (having worked in the food industry as front of house and back of house, I know these are two very different skill sets) but most unforgivably was the “new menu”. I even bothered to ask if the menu was limited due to corona, but that’s not the case it’s just the new menu. they got rid of all the delicious aforementioned food. They have 3 appetizers and nothing on the entree menu sounds particularly amazing especially not for the price. It has nothing to do with the restaurant and everything to do with the Pearl. Restauranteurs have to have their menu approved by the pearl management before they can make changes or adjustments and despite the culinary institute being right there, all they allow for is overpriced mediocrity. Absolutely disappointed!
We’ve been here multiple times and the excellent service and marvelous food are absolutely consistent each time .
The menu is always interesting and preparation and presentation are top notch .
Lovely as usual!
The food was amazing as always!! I always enjoy coming to Botika with friends. The cocktails are so good too!
$$$, nice area good food but limited menu. Not sure if COVID-19 limited menu or not but I didn't find any fusion items on said menu. Again, everything was above 80% & I have a wide range of food likes but....
Others in my party are very picky & have a limited range of food preferences. If your pallet is limited you might not be satisfied. If you like trying different things or enjoy sushi/ rice bowls you will be satisfied.
Delicious food and drinks. The frozen grapefruit Aperol Spritz was extraordinary!
The food is fantastic. It does not have a huge menu but what they offer is great. The short rib noodle is a must have!
Usually a fun atmosphere (pre-covid), but still enjoy dining here. Excellent food and friendly staff. Very careful about health protocols. Support your local business!
Everything was great but expected a bit more from the price
Would totally go again though!
Great food (get the Cebiche Amarillo!) service and excellent social distancing practices!
Food is subpar, everything is overly sweet. Nothing stand out. The pricing is atrocious for the food quality. Ceviche which is a Peruvian staple and they couldn't even get that right. Service is also subpar. Spend your money elsewhere
These are difficult times for so many, not the least those in the travel and entertainment industry. In short, the staff was friendly enough and the ambiance appealing in light of the many restrictions. The food was simply average at best. Trying way too hard without the skill to execute on what the menu promises. Importantly, the menu was limited during our recent visit and while we expected to enjoy those items that were offered, we did not. We started with the Tostoncitos at $9, and they were dry and uninspiring. The Summer Roll at $19 was drowning in the yuzu ponzu sauce and overly spicy as well. We couldn't taste the fish or any of the other ingredients..in short, a soggy mess. When I shared my thoughts with the server, he rightfully took them away, and off of our bill. The Steamed Buns at $14 were good. Topped with a chicharron that was a bit soft (not the freshest tasting nor rightfully crispy) these had a spicy seasoning that also killed most of the other flavors in our opinion. Fortunately the Hoisin sauce cut some of the spice thus we could enjoy this item. The POKE at $19 was good however again nothing memorable. The Leche de Tigre (tigers milk - citrus marinade) again overpowers the other flavors in this dish. The 6 pieces of Sashimi (We had Sake and HamachI) were the best part of the meal...at $3 a piece, the $18 price tag takes away from some of the enjoyment however. Happy to pay a premium for top quality fish..this was not that though. In short, we had high, however realistic expectations due to all that is going on these days. In light of the mostly positive reviews, we likely came on an off day....but won't be back.
The food was good but the menu is limited.
