   It was nice to sit on the heated patio for brunch on Sunday May 4. Exceptional house made hot sauce. Mango chili splash was also a refreshing mocktail. The Server, I believe her name was Hanna, it was a her first day and she was very good, attentive, funny, and took great care of us.

   I had been here last summer and had a great experience. I returned this weekend and was disappointed with the portion sizes. The service was wonderful and it’s a beautiful spot but my partner and I found ourselves laughing about the tiny portions. Not a great bang for your buck.

   Calamari and Seafood Linguine were delicious! The calamari was soft and lightly textured with great flavour, loved the battered veggies, jalapeños and tzatziki served with it. The linguine was light and rich in flavour without a heavy sauce. I would have liked more scallops for the price. My guest had the BBQ Chicken Pizza. Crust was delicious, but a bit too much BBQ sauce. Service was good, but the restaurant was busy. They could have used another server on the floor. The wooden chairs at some of the tables are horribly uncomfortable. Maybe ask for a booth or a table with the comfy chairs.

   We have enjoyed Borough for years. We ordered the steaks medium rare. Had to send them back since they were well done. Second steaks were no better. For 66$ a steak. Expected a better. Chief came out and tried to explain that our meat under a kitchen light was rare but under ambient light. They showed as well done. Not sure how that works.

   Our evening out with friends was great. The sound level was such that we had no difficulty with our conversation all night. Despite a very busy place, our server was attentive. We all had the YYC Food Experience offering. The 3 course, fixed price menu was delicious and great value for money. Borough continues to have a great wine list with very nice wines for less than $60!

   We enjoyed an early dinner and had what we thought was great interaction with Raylyn our server. However after our mains arrived, she disappeared. And the restaurant got busy. We were happy for that as we enjoy Borough and know it’s tough at the moment. We had to ask the server with a large table beside us to help get our bill. We still waited and I could see he had to go get the floor manager. The plates were finally cleared but no bill. Another 10-15 minutes. Finally we got our bill and said we didn’t know what happened to our server as we hadn’t seen them on the floor in over 30 minutes. We didn’t want to keep the table knowing it was getting busy and we had an appointment to get to. We thanked the manager and got up to leave and then our server came from the bar area. Clearly she’d been reassigned but nobody had taken over our cover. We know it’s a glitch, but I do hope it doesn’t happen to others.

    The YYC experience was very good. The appetizers and Alberta Duo was on point. It is sometimes hard to get seafood perfect in a land locked province. It is surprising however, that the food presented for YYC experience is not available on the everyday menu. Too bad.
