Delicious steaks, sides and drinks in a f old fashioned yet modern decor. Great atmosphere. Great place to be on the weekend.
We were so excited to dine here and were not disappointed. Started out the evening with a complementary champagne toast. Followed by a round of delicious signature cocktails, the old fashioned and the whiskey smash were the hits of this round. For starters we ordered the scallop crudo, melt in your mouth delicious so much flavor!, the table side steak tartare which was amazing and a fun interactive experience, and the burgundy snails on bone marrow which was rich and wonderful. We then had the table side caesar which comes with anchovies and we loved that. Then came the entrees OMG: for the 5 of us we shared 10 oz of wagyu which was just amazingly decadent, we also had the bone in ribeye which was just perfect and the filet which was also so yummy!! For sides we had carrots, mushrooms, and the uni spaghetti. The carrots and mushrooms were super tasty. The uni spaghetti was cold which was the one flaw we had in the whole amazing meal. The server recommended a perfect bottle of wine for us to pair with the meat and sides. Both servers we had and the sommelier had great personalities and kept us happy the whole time we were there. Their service was perfect! Then for dessert we shared 2 slices of the most amazing carrot cake and a slice of cheesecake which I didn't try but I heard it was great. But definitely go for the carrot cake if you have to choose, such great flavor! We finished with a couple dessert cocktails, the grasshopper was super yummy if you're a fan of chocolate mint anything definitely give this a try! The espresso martini was a great drink as well! All in all such an amazing and luxurious meal. I can't wait to come back again!

Excellent experience-our first dinner out in one year.
This was our second visit to Born & Raised, and it did not disappoint! We had a table on the outdoor rooftop. It was extremely warm and felt very safe. Our server Reed was awesome. Very knowledgeable and great energy. The food was excellent. Uni pasta is a must try! 40 oz Tomahawk steak for sharing, along with a plethora of side dishes to compliment. The mushrooms were some of the best I’ve had! And don’t forget the BREAD! I work at a high- end steakhouse so it is always difficult for me to find something that is truly wowing, but this is the place! They hit every mark.

We had the best Valentine's dinner with our friends. It was the first time at Born and Raised for all 4 of us and we will be back. The service was excellent and our server Katie could not have been any better. She offered great suggestions and her wine choice for us was superb.

I went there with GF, we sat on the rooftop. Fun ambiance and the service was very attentive...maybe too attentive as they kept interrupting our conversation but I guess better to be overly helpful than all together absent.
The house salad was really yummy, I highly recommend. We also had the green beans and puréed potatoes which were both good. The ribeye was just OK which is why I’m giving the food a 4 star ⭐️ instead of 5. The last thing is I wish they had a larger and better selection of wines but I had the Napa ZD and it was fine with the steak. Overall I would recommend for a night out with some friends or date night.
We went in to celebrate a newly divorce. Had the best dining experience because our server made it an enjoyable time. Didn’t catch his name but just wanted to thank him ! We ordered a bottle of Dom perignon to start off the night. Got a Cesar salad, charcuterie board for appetizers then worked out way up to 9oz of Japanese Wagyu, dry aged ribeye and the chicken entree. BAR is definitely my go to place when it comes to steaks! It’s my go to place in general! The ambience, food presentation, everything is just on point. Definitely need to book reservations in advance since there’s hardly any walk ins and they’re usually booked.

We all know the food is great here and tonight was no different. We all had the ribeye and shared the dirty hashbrowns, mushrooms, and green beans. My favorite side is the dirty hashbrowns. I could eat that by itself. But the star of the show tonight was the service. This was the BEST service I have ever received for a special occasion. The servers were attentive and unexpectedly brought out a dessert TRAY, glasses of champagne, and glasses of sparkling cider for my parents who don’t drink alcohol. They also gave us a very thoughtful signed card congratulating us on our wedding. We will definitely be back for more steak dinners.

I took my girlfriend there for her birthday. Was easy to make a reservation off OpenTable and no waiting when we got there, food and drinks were amazing. Got the steak sampler and all were amazing. Staff was super friendly, especially our waiter who was open and was very personable. Then for desert when the waiter brought up 2 amazing looking cakes it was unfortunate that my girlfriend doesn't like cheesecake and the other being a carrot cake which is my girlfriends favorite, had nuts in it and she cannot have any. So our very attentive waiter said wait one second and ill go talk with the chef. And came back a little later with some homemade ice cream that was literally just freshly made with a hint of lime and raspberry sauce inside!! It was amazing!! My girlfriend loved it so so much and just the fact that they tried so hard was beyond perfect.

Foods greats, just didn’t feel as safe and comfortable as other restaurants have been during covid. Yea they had “barriers” separating the tables. But they packed them in so tight I was still only 3 feet from the person next to me and my side of the table didn’t have a high extended part of the barrier. The masks the servers wore were just cloth, it would be nice to see them wearing a filtered mask especially as close as they get to us to talk loud and serve. But they were better than some of the restaurants next to us that were crazy packed! Overall it was great food and a fun night, just thought I’d share for some improvements to attract more people that are still a little more cautious than others but want to get out and enjoy great food!
Best meal I have had in San Diego. Max our waiter was outstanding. Bring your wallet. Worth every dime.

I lovvvvvve Born and Raised! The best food. I did find a long blong hair in my dish this time, which was disgusting. But it happens and won’t. Stop me from returning. Just hope they invest in hairnets or something. My hair is long and dark so it def wasn’t mine and pulling hair out of your mouth after a delicious bite isn’t fun.

Excellent meal with professional, friendly, although a bit slow, service. Nice atmosphere on the rooftop during covid after dining on sidewalks for a few nights prior to visiting Born & Raised. Pricy meal, but not unexpected for a top-shelf steakhouse.
We were celebrating my husbands birthday here and it was amazing!! A bit on the pricey end, but accounting for service and the whole vibe of the place , we’d pay it again in a heartbeat. I had the lamb and hubby had the filet. Let me tell you, I wanted to lick my place clean hahaha. The filet was cooked perfectly as ordered and he had a sampler of the sauces... YUM!!
We’ll be celebrating another birthday next month and we’ll be celebrating at Born and Raised!!

The filet mignon and Porterhouse were both delicious. Also loved the house salad--nice dressing and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Yum!
Our first night out in many, many months & thankful to have chosen Born & Raised as our date night! Our waitress was excellent, food was delicious! The restaurant has down an excellent job with taking precautions & spacing people out. It was a great experience!

Our waiter was funny and attentive. Cocktails were strong and visually pleasing. Steak was cooked perfectly. The only thing was the crab legs were unusually salty other than that it’s always a pleasure.

Made a reservation for a birthday before indoor dining was shut down. I was pleasantly surprised that our rooftop table was ready right on time. The view was gorgeous. The food was divine! I highly recommend the Tomahawk steak with the added dungeoness crab on top. It’s such a beautiful presentation and sure to impress your friends. Our cocktails were prepared to perfection and never empty. Do yourself a favor and save room for dessert. The banana cheesecake was one of the best I’ve ever had and worth every ounce of guilt. Our table spent half the night ooh-ing and ahh-ing over how tasty every dish was. Bring a few friends, order one of everything and take a few bites of each! You won’t be sorry.
Brian was so amazing. His service was phenomenal and his assertiveness to our needs was impeccable. I’m actually “ BORN AND RAISED” in San Diego so I try to come there every time in town visiting family. I would recommend him anytime I go there.
