Pricey but amazing experience and delicious food!!
Amazing! Worth every penny.
Our friends time being here and it was such an opulent establishment . The service staff are all so welcoming and attentive . Our server Christopher was amazing !! Such a great guy . He really knew how to ask any of our questions about food and drinks . He was even so kind to make us a reservation after dinner with their sister restaurant craft and commerce to get some drinks . He went well over beyond with his service . Dining here is a one of a kind experience and lives up to all the hype .
I was really looking forward dining here based on the reviews. Overall we were rather underwhelmed. The music was blaring so loud you could barely have a conversation and it’s dark enough you will need your phone flash light to read the menu. Steak tartare was very good, the scallops were just ok and very salty. My snails were good but my steak wasn’t anything to write home about. Mushrooms were excellent though. Overall wouldn’t go back.
Not as good as last time I went about 1 year ago. Ribeye was tough and chewy.
Amazing! Such attention to detail and everything we order was amazing!
Good ambiance, but food was too expensive for the quality
We always have an absolutely incredible time at this restaurant. The food is insane! Our waiter, Trevor is one of the best we’ve ever experienced there. So professional, educated and detailed. We will definitely always ask to be served by Trevor in the future.
Anniversary
We had a reservation for 6-guests, the other night, yet 1-of our guests wanted to add 3-more at the very last minute. B&R was extremely gracious to accommodate this last minute request and Sarah A., our server, was amazing! She was kind, attentive, kept us happy and satisfied for the entire evening. The outstanding craft cocktails, food, beautiful ambiance and unique atmosphere caused even the four (4) of us who are in the industry to practically forget to let our server know, ahead of time, how we wanted to split up separate tabs. Again, Sarah A. didn't hesitate to work with us, made it happen and accommodated another last minute request with patience and grace! We really enjoyed our time there & were well taken care of :-)
We came to celebrate my husband’s birthday.
1. The waiter had a very strong BO smell that could be smelled from tables away. It was unbearable.
2. He asked us if we wanted an olive oil luge from our appetizer bone marrow. Not realizing it had alcohol or it would be an extra cost, we agreed. My husband tried it and stopped because he thought it was too much olive oil. He said it tasted acidic and like it had alcohol in it. When we got the bill, we were surprised there was an additional charge because it wasn’t mentioned. We looked it up online and it turns out it did have alcohol on it.
3. We ordered the bone marrow and escargot appetizer, A3 sampler, hashbrowns at the same time. We waited over 40 minutes between the appetizer and A3 sampler plate. The waiter said it was coming and 20 minutes later I asked about it and he apologized that he thought it was ready but he was mistaken.
4. Our experience as a whole was so off putting from the customer service that we couldn’t appreciate the food. Maybe it was just an off night but we were left disappointed.
The waiter called the the manager after the delay of the A3 and he was pleasant and apologized for the delay. He did comp our dessert but we left so disappointed.
We were not able to get our cork from our wine bottle! We’ve been collecting these since we started dating
Food was excellent. Table side salad prep was perfect - made to order. Steak and bread excellent. Server was friendly and helpful but the place was so busy we didn't get the proactive attention that should be provided by a high end restaurant like this. We sat downstairs and the noise level with music was too high. We could hardly hear each other.
Celebrated a birthday, service was great food was delicious
Outstanding from start to finish. Our server Devan was incredible. Fun yet professional, incredibly knowledgeable of the menu just overall OUTSTANDING
GM Allison and our Host Art, were beyond professional and courteous! We don’t make it to BAR as often as we would like, but when we do, it’s quite the memorable experience.
Everything from start was top notch and over the top, big shout out to the entire team at Consortium for making this birthday weekend a success. The epitome of hospitality and a memorable experience to say the least. Will be returning for round two with a smaller group in the very near future!
We really did enjoy everything about this meal. The bone marrow with escargots is a MUST. Really glad I finally tried this place out.
Our server Colin was great and definitely elevated the experience for us. The ratatouille was phenomenal. I was afraid I wouldn’t have any good options as a vegetarian and it definitely exceeded my expectations. My friends loved their food and drinks as well. They got the Wagyu steak, rib eye and Cesar salad. All were great. We can’t wait to go back.
All the food was fantastic the surprise was the chicken one of our party had unbelievable best chicken I ever twisted
Superior service
Super cool interior
Fantastic. Food was out of this world. We will be back!
Succulent and divine
This was a birthday dinner for our son and we loved it. Everything was awesome.
I think this is the best steakhouse in San Diego. Great service, ambiance and experience.
Amazing service and food. Néw Chef has great mastery of flavorful food.
Tough to get a reservation, but worth the wait. Food was excellent. Drinks amazing. Service was great. Started with the champagne cart - cool start to service. Shared the tableside Caesar - nothing remarkable, but presentation was fun. Dry aged Filet and wagyu were both spectacular. Highly recommend dirty hash browns. Green beans were good, but tough to compete with the rest of the meal. Had an espresso martini for dessert - great way to finish a really enjoyable meal. Social distancing done well with dividers between tables for more privacy/ambiance.
Favorite place
Lovely meal. Everyone is amazing. Loved the service. Thank you.
Amazing experience! A must see if visiting San Diego.
Not my first time and I think the food has gotten even better. Everything from the service to the ambiance, to the wine and the incredible food. Love it
We went for my birthday. Everything was fabulous - food, service, ambiance. Everyone we met made a point to roll out the red carpet knowing it was a birthday. I highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or any time. Trevor, our waiter, explained the menu perfectly and made excellent recommendations. The general manager made our table-side to-die-for steak tartare and checked in with us after our meal. If you are thinking about Born & Raised, stop thinking and make your reservation!
Such beautiful place. Great food. The dirty hash brown is out of this world. The beef Wellington is perfectly prepared to a rare flawless tenderloin. This place is better than
It was so nice to see B&R thriving and it was just as good if not better since the last time I was there (March 2020 prior to shutdown) thank you for making my boyfriend’s first experience there so positive and it was great to celebrate our anniversary there! We will be back soon!
Amazing food and service
Amazing! Great service and drinks. Wonderful overall experience.
Loved this place before Covid! Awesome service, food, etc.
Now their menu is a little more limited and they’re even charging for bread! The side dishes are smaller than I remember and their martini glasses are now these tiny wine glasses (definitely not the same size/volume!) Our server was OK, took forever to get our drinks, didn’t seem as knowledgeable as those in the past, didn’t upswell or have suggestions for us, and he didn’t ask us what sauce we wanted with our steak.
I have had dinner at this restaurant a handful of times each time outstanding, except for this last time I visited with my wife and a couple of friends who we wanted to show a great dining experience.
Our reservation was at 9:15 PM and we were seated at around 9:30 pm, which we did not mind as we had a couple of drinks at the bar while waiting. Once we sat down we waited a few minutes to even get our drink order in. A bit later we placed our dinner order which consisted of Ceasar salads and as for meat a porterhouse and tomahawk and specified we wanted a medium-rare. We received the first course the salad and the waiter told us it was the LAST CALL for the bar so we ordered a couple of drinks to make sure we had wine to go with the steaks. Once the meat arrived the meat was a bit more than medium-well so overcooked and that was disappointing. a few minutes later our server returned and told us it was the LAST CALL for the kitchen, so to place a dessert order of which there were only 2 cake options and the est of the menu was not available. We placed an order for one slice of each and while we were taking our last sips of wine the server returned one last time and told us that they had a midnight noise limit and stated "Thank You for Coming, but I'm going to have to close" there were still a few bites of dessert left and the last of our wine to finish.
IF there is a midnight limit it should be stated upon making a reservation SO LATE and on top of that, we felt rushed during the entire experience. The price point is a bit steep to rush such a dining experience especially without having been notified previously of such a curfew. If this is the case then we will rethink coming back because we like to enjoy and take our time not to mention the tab for 4 ppl was over 550.00 dlls. Basically, if a MEDIOCRE dining experience is going to be had because there is a time limit, then there should be a LAST available time slot to reserve and be able to ENJOY your dinner.
Amazing service! It was my boyfriend’s birthday and we had a wonderful time
My husband went with a friend and said the food was po
