Food and service were great
Great onion soup. The rest of the food was wonderful as well.
Food was great but disappointed that many of the rotisserie items were not available
Everything was perfect and I was really impressed with the attention to detail. Food was incredible and service was prompt and attentive. Highly recommend this amazing restaurant.
This was our second time at Bordeaux. They must have been totally overwhelmed by Mardi Gras. When we arrived for our 8P reservation there was clearly an issue as the hostess spoke with what appeared to be a manager. The manager came over to let us know that they were out of one of the entrees and a couple other things on the menu. However, when we ordered it turned out that they were out of almost everything. 4 of us ordered chicken but it turned out that they only had 2 entrees left. They brought us a sides and a dessert but we basically had mashed potatoes and gravy with some small pieces of chicken.
The food was not bad, but the place was disheveled. The staff seemed exhausted - likely just tired from dealing with the all day menu created for parade traffic. Our waiter was polite and apologetic and tried very hard and the hostess apologized in the end but we the truth is that they should not have stayed open for dinner...they were totally unprepared for same and that was very disappointing. I am more accustomed to places with good food and bad service; Bordeaux was no food and great service. Sad.
Food wasn’t really that good-service was great.
My girlfriend insisted that we go based off of her friends recent visit. I read a less than positive review recently, but am glad that did not dissuade us. We had an outstanding experience! I used to live in France, and this place is a bistro just as you would find in Europe. The bone marrow escargot was the best dish I've had in recent memory. The french onion soup hit the spot on a cool evening. The wine selection is very good and affordable. Fresh king cake for dessert...wow. The Rotisserie duck was tender and delicious. The patio has such a fun ambiance and was quite cozy with the heaters on. The french music playing set the perfect mood. I will definitely be a frequent customer and will be showing off this gem to friends.
I heard they got a new chef and I wanted to check it out. Honestly, I think the food is even better than before! The rotisserie lamb was absolute perfection! The wait staff have always been on top of their game This is just such a friendly non-pretentious place. This is one of my favorite restaurants. Although it is late Jan and chilly outside, the heaters on the front patio kept it very cozy. My friends and I all took off our coats and were quite comfortable. The mint julep and old fashioned cocktails are the best in uptown.
My third time there. Very cold all three visits. We are not California. If you are going to have outdoor restaurant you have to invest in enough heaters. And it’s not a French restaurant. Fish mahi mahi.....generic. It’s Cajun and that’s not the same. Pork chops tasty with cornbread (Cajun). Still could be a great spot with heaters and comfort food.
Food was not cold but not hot.
Our first visit after reading good reviews. Not a good experience this night. We arrived at 5:25 for a 5:30 reservation. No one else was in the restaurant except at the bar, for the next 30 min. The hostess kept trying to sit us next to the noisy bar at a hightop instead of a table. She claimed that all the tables were taken even though no one was there, and we had a good reservation that we confirmed. We did not see a waiter until 6. The bar staff did get us a cocktail while waiting. I do not know why they open at 5:30 when clearly they are not ready to operate until 6pm. The waiter was very good, but that did not help the food. A bone marrow and escargot appetizer was the only good choice that night. The satsuma salad was very dry, with very little satsuma. They specialize in rotisserie meats. A unique idea. However the pheasant was way way overdone, and tough. The lamb was a little better only because it came with a sauce. These are supposed to be their specialties. Lots of meat, and one fish dish. In this part of Magazine street, it is very hard to park, so I recommend you take an uber if you want to try this restaurant. Maybe it was just a bad night. With all the great choices in uptown New Orleans, it will probably be a long time before we return.
I was really disappointed with my experience at Bordeaux. I was cold from the minute I sat down and my chair was really hard & uncomfortable. Only one patio heater was working and not enough heat to keep everyone warm. Our table was in traffic with servers bumping my son's head at every pass. My steak was overcooked and the fries just uninteresting. We brought our own bottle of French wine and luckily it was the best part of the evening. It's a pity to spend that much money and get little in return. I was really looking forward to a great night out with my family and left knowing I would not return.
The flatbread was good. Would love to see more pescatarian and vegetarian options. Vegetarian plate was fair— a little expensive. Cheese & fruit plate?
Jeremiah made my visit a positive one
Atmosphere was great, food was great, service was excellent. Definitely will go again.
Nice meal at new place
Wish you had sweet tea
Great shrimp salad
Hubby had short ribs - were delicious
We will be back soon
So glad that you enjoyed it. Hope to see you soon!
Great place to catch up with old friends! I had a blast meeting up with my old roommate and his wife on the outdoor patio. The atmosphere here is just plain fun. Everyone was laughing and having a great time. The food was outstanding. Excellent affordable wine list. I have been here before and it was really good then. Word on the street is they have a new executive chef and wow. I feel the food was even better this time around. I will definitely be back to see what new menu items await!
Thank you so much for dining with us. We look forward to having you again soon to taste our new menu!
I went there with my boyfriend to celebrate New Year's eve while visiting New Orleans. I found their special NYE menu not that good. The words in the menu made me think it would be spectacular but it wasn't. It was definitely overpriced.
We have addressed the issue and have a new kitchen team. We hope that you come in on your next visit and try our new menu.
I brought my girlfriend to meet my parents at my favorite restaurant and once again, Bordeaux provided the perfect atmosphere for a memorable dining experience. The outdoor patio is such a relaxing atmosphere. I opted for the Duck which was fantastic, my lady enjoyed the redfish and my parents opted for the steak and pheasant. Everyone enjoyed great food and great conversation over amazing wine. The new cocktail list is dangerously good.
Thank you for leaving a review Josh. We look forward to you dining with us again soon!
Excellent meal and service!!
We love Bordeaux and Chef has Dominique has done it again🏆
meh...foie gras was not seared correctly, so ended up being really slimy. the crabmeat salad was overly salty. the sweetbreads were great, but on top of mashed potatoes seemed like a weird mix. the steak tar tar was fantastic though.
The lunch left a bit to be desired. The food tasted OK... Two salads and a BLT that was simply a ham sandwich with bacon. The restaurant was out of spinach goat cheese quiche at noon. The molten chocolate cake was still cold though mostly defrosted and heated through. Service needed to be reminded to bring water. Otherwise OK. Disappointing lunch experience.
First time at Bordeaux and it was overall very good. The food was excellent. I started with a craft cocktail that could be very dangerous. I say that because it was so good it would be easy to overdo and get into trouble. Our server was excellent, but I did rate the overall service down a bit because I tried to order from the bottle list and both my two tries were out. I also heard another table have the same problem. They need to keep their wine list up to date. For a restaurant named after a famous wine region in France you would think they would do better with their wine program. Food was great had the oyster app and the foie gras app and both were delicious. The entrees and dessert were also very good. Only other caveat is a lot of the seating is outside. The weather was great when we were there, but it might be problematic if the weather does not cooperate.
I had some friends come in town, so I took them to my favorite new spot. They loved the vibe of the outdoor patio that makes Bordeaux unique. The new cocktail list is even better than the last one. The rotisserie lamb is my favorite, my buddies tried a variety of rotisserie meats and emptied the plates quickly. I was pleased to see the venison is back on the menu and will be returning for it. The service is always good with funny wait staff.
I brought my girlfriend and her family here for her birthday celebration. What a hit! The food was on point. Amazing fresh rotisserie pheasant and lamb. The Fois Gras was authentic. Great cocktails and wine selection. Everyone had such a good time on the outdoor patio right on magazine street. Such good Ambiance. Service could not have been better.
For lunch Menu was too limited. They were out of Caesar dressing, plate was too small for salad and quich was dry. Chairs were uncomfortable.
Lovely experience. The food was great. The service was spot on.
Great food and great service made for a great evening. I had the suckling pig rotisserie, which was outstanding. Not surprising considering who the chef is.
Good food. Not enough choices or sides. A little pricey for what you get.
Would have given 5 stars all around, except the chairs are so wretchedly uncomfortable you can barely sit there long enough to eat.
It was not good. We were promised that a “chef’s table” would be reserved for us and it was not and we were forced to sit outside on a very cold night. We sat for a long time with no drinks and no wine list. The food was old fashioned and uninspired. Almost no vegetables on the menu. Salad was overdressed, onion looked like it was sliced by a child. Potatoes dauphinois gratin was greasy and too cheesy, my husband’s steak was underweight and overpriced. The pork and duck from the rotisserie were decent. Desserts were super basic. Seemed like the people in charge havn’t been to a good restaurant in the past 40 years.
Really enjoyed our meal! Double date night! Thanks y’all!
Beautiful place, great food, good selection of wine, would definitely go again!
While our salad was good, our steak and fries were burned and not the best. I love the ambiance but they need to get the basics of not serving burned food to guests covered.
Weather related....Outside seating. Very little or no inside seating. Hot if outside in the summer, but fun.
The food was delicious. We shared spit roasted duck with au gratin potatoes, greens and a rich cream sauce. With the generous portion, one order was all we needed. It was preceded by red fish and octopus cerviche. We will go back.
Fun new spot. Enjoyed the creole tomato and burrata salad - it was amazing. I had the FEUILLE DE BRICK CRUSTED REDFISH - quiet French indeed, but I think it would be better if they had served it straight out of the oven. The dessert was delish - a pear tart! The portions are rather large so I certainly did not leave hungry. Would return to try other dishes. Service was nice and prompt. The atmosphere was fun with the porch dining - however they crowd far too many tables on to the porch. I think patrons and staff would appreciate more space on the porch. The lighting could improve to provide a more 'intimate' feel - a bit bright. I wish Bordeaux success.
Great outdoor atmosphere !
Food was delicious! Great fish in a thin pastry and very large serving!
Bordeaux was outstanding. My husband ordered the rotisserie lamb shoulder and I ordered the steak with chimmichurri sauce and both were phenomenal. We gave our compliments the chef. Our waiter Larry was incredibly attentive; wine was great; open atmosphere with the ceiling fans was perfect for night dining. Will highly recommend Bordeaux going forward!
I brought my mother to my new favorite restaurant in town...she was blown away as I have been on repeated visits. She raved that the creme brulee was the best she has ever had, which says a lot as she travels the world over frequently. I was excited to see pompano on the menu! I don't see this fish offered at restaurants very often. It was outstanding! My mother loved the rotisserie lamb. This place is consistently amazing with an ever changing menu.
