Bonobo American Bistro
Great ambience great food fantastic waiter. The bar could use more help they were backed up.
Enjoyed a lovely dinner at Bonobos!
Between the two of us we had chicken picatta and Skate. Both dishes were smothered in capers with fresh green beans on the side and were very tasty. The picatta was resting on babaganoush, which was excellent, though I missed the usual lemony sauce. The skate was outstanding and was accompanied by a handful of roasted potato coins.
We had apple cobbler with a dash of ice cream for dessert. We would have enjoyed it more if there had been a larger scoop of ice cream.
Overall nice dinner to try. Quite pricy for some of the dishes.
Lovely evening with fantastic food
Good food and service. Wish they had a more extensive dessert menu. Would definitely eat here again.
Great food, great service by Jaron!
Friendly service and good food but it took a while for our server to come and get our order and then about an hour for our food to come out after that
Loved the atmostpher and it was very quite which I appreciated on a Sunday night.
Great place to go out to dinner with friends. Service great and food was very good!!
Fabulous in every way. Such a gem in our neighborhood!
Very nice place.
Excellent in every way! We will return once a week and we’ll spread the good word about Bonobo.
Baked cod embarrassing drab and tasteless.
Trout special ok but fish itself not special.
Menu limited, because of supply issues, I’m sure.
Will try again.
NOTHER GREAT NIGHT AT BONOBO. BECAUSE OF THE COOL WEATHER, WE SAT INSIDE AND ALL WAS WONDERFUL. WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN NEXT WEEK.
Another great Thursday evening at Bonobo. We enjoyed salmon salad and crab cakes along with some beer and wine while we were stupendously entertained again by Christopher’s Project featuring Christopher, D’Quela and Theo. Our server, Dan, whom we had the pleasure of being served by before, is very congenial, efficient and we are pleased to have had another memorable evening at our super enjoyable Bonobo American Bistro in Shorewood
The hamburger was delicious, perfectly done. The fries were good but were lukewarm when delivered to table. The waitstaff was outstanding even as the tables filled up around us, he was very attentive.
I would come back and try something else on the menu.
My husband and I truly enjoyed the food last night. Especially the skatewing and trout. Absolutely delicious !
Sat outside under a heat lamp. Very comfortable. Had a lovely server and the kitchen, knowing we were splitting a salad and entree, plated it for us separately in the kitchen which was very nice of them. I had a vegetarian entree of roasted celery root over curried lentils and I think the celery root was undercooked -- quite tough. I'd choose a different option next time.
This was our first visit to Bonobo. We were greeted immediately with a very friendly greeting from the bartender and the hostess. We were given our choice of seating, which I appreciated. Within a minute or two we were greeted by our friendly server with water, and a request for a drink order, or any questions that we might have. All employees were masked, which shows me that they care about their customers. We ordered meatballs, Brussels sprouts, crab cakes, and skate wing. The meatballs were good, but not my taste. The crab cakes were excellent, and mostly crab, not filler. The Brussels sprouts were very tasty also, but the star of the evening was the skate wing! It was just slightly crispy on the outside, moist and very tasty inside, with a garnish of capers. The accompanying haricot verts and the potatoes were very tasty. The apple cobbler was perfect. We were very pleased and will definitely return!
A perfect night in every way! Definitely a neighborhood gem.
Sat outside here for dinner on a Friday night and it exceeded all my expectations! Appetizers were really good (beet salad, brussel sprouts, tomato salad) and my gin cocktail off their menu was amazing. I had the salmon special on wild rice and it was done perfectly, really flavorful, I honestly was scraping my plate to get every little last drop. Fun and engaging waiter too, will go back soon!
The food was delicious, both my wife and I really enjoyed our meals. The patio dining are is the perfect atmosphere for dinner.
Super yummy! We tried the skate wing, chicken, and crab cakes.
I've been here many times and always a great experience here!
It was wonderful dining experience in every way! Thank you.
We had a reservation for four outside, had a cocktail them were moved inside because of rain. The staff was so accommodating. Even when we became a party of six. Brussels sprouts and calamari starters were delicious. Cod fish fry was amazing. Highly recommended. Special thanks to Mia and Barb!
The portions were rather small, the wait person forgot to tell us about the specials and you were out of decaf coffee.
This is our 4th visit and the first three times our food was very tasty. Unfortunately last night the special was just okay and very salty. Might have been just an off night. We will be back.
Outstanding meal and service, as always! The perch dinner was delicious.
Our dinners were great and the service great as well! Will definitely return!
We had the salmon and chicken entrees and were very pleased with the taste.
I liked my barrel-aged old fashion drink a lot, too.
We went on a Saturday night and it was packed, which surprised me since there were so many reservations open on Open Table the night before. I wish we ate outside because it seemed like a nicer atmosphere. My boyfriend and I were seated in the back by this large noisy table with a bunch of antsy kids—didn’t seem appropriate for the environment which appeared more upscale. We ordered the mussels appetizer and the sauce felt like just lemon juice—not very flavorful. I expected a richer broth with more depth. My boyfriend’s beef short ribs were good and he enjoyed them. I ordered the scallops which were fairly good, but the saffron risotto was bland. Also, I’m just not a big fan of green beans, and they came with every entree. The waitress was polite. Our entrees took an hour to get to our table. I just wasn’t impressed by anything, which was too bad given the great location.
HI MgnK, Saturday the 11th was indeed a poor night from our kitchen staff and we apologize for the poor experience at Bonobo. I am very confident those issues have been addressed and If there is anyway we can convince you to give us another try, and it is not exceptional, it will be on me. Thank you for your time, -Spencer Owner Bonobo American Bistro
Once again, a great night at this wonderful restaurant.
Our 5th Thursday in a row at Bonobo…Dinner was with a dear friend. Food was excellent as was service from Paul, our waiter. We had a delicious variety including: scallops appetizer, salmon dinner, salmon salad and Brussel sprouts. Wine and beer selections were very good . Thursday has been our weekly choice because of the music. Christopher’s Project featuring Christopher Pipkins and Joe Jordan together last night were outstanding and made our night “perfecto❣️” They are so talented and absolutely kind, fun friends❣️
Bonobo's beef short ribs is to-die-for!
The skate wing ain't so bad neither!
Outstanding! I did not expect to be blown away by the food but I honestly was. I had the scallops with saffron risotto while my husband had the skate. They were both prepared perfectly and the flavors were everything I could have hoped for. I can’t wait to go back!
Noisy. Salad was great but entrees modest size and uninspired. Cocktail was so tart as to be almost undrinkable. Poor dessert menu.
Excellent from the crab cakes and calamari to the Salmon, chicken piccata, scallops and rainbow trout to the apple crisp. Waitress was excellent. Highly recommend
We had reservations for outdoor dining, but an hour before our time, it started to look like rain. We appreciated getting a phone call from someone at Bonobo, asking if we would be ok eating inside the restaurant. Good customer service!
So happy to be able to wine, dine, and dance outdoors at the so very pleasant patio area at Bonobo. Hope we can do this for a few more weeks as we still are not dining indoors during this “time.” Bonobo’s menu options, especially seafood, fantastic Brussel sprouts, and specialty salads have been just right for our family and occasional friend night dining. Service is very congenial and, though crowded evenings may slow it a bit, servers do the best they can to accommodate all guests. And we are not in a hurry to complete our dining experience because we are treated to fantastic live Jazz music every Thursday (weather permitting) outdoors provided by Christoper’s Project. Christopher and accompanying vocalists have made our Thursday date night/family/friends dinner evenings perfect joy. Thank you ALL!
