Superb food on the tasting menu, table d'hote, at 84cdn being about $56 per person, 6 courses.
Having spent 40plus years in a kitchen, I appreciate fine dining at a reasonable price.

Bonaparte was a great find! Belated birthday celebrations for my friend and I. The food was sublime: from starter: lobster bisque, to main course: lobster with pasta, to dessert: lemon meringue pie. Presentation of the food was eye catching, and the sauce for the lobster was divine. Our waiter, Yannic, was charming and knowledgeable, and provided attentive service. Great wine list! Have already recommended it to friends and relatives.

My wife and I ate here 20 years ago and was as great two days ago as it was then.

We chose this restaurant for our last night in Montreal, and I am sad to say that I was disappointed that
for us, Bonaparte did not live up to its stellar reviews. To begin, I had the carrot butternut squash soup and my husband had the lobster bisque; the soups were both delicious. For our entrees, my husband had the scallops and I had the duck. Unfortunately, my duck was tough and lacked flavour. Thus, our meal did not meet our expectations. I will say that our service was good and the ambiance is lovely. Maybe it was an off night for the chef, or maybe the fact that our reservation was at 9 pm dulled the kitchen.

Very nice, high quality French restaurant in old Montreal. We did the chefs menu, which was creative and tasty, with excellent presentation and service. We were not rushed, and we also didn't need to dress up, as more casual clothes for us as travelers was fine.

Bonaparte was recommended by my husband's client. My husband, teenage daughter and I had a wonderful meal here while visiting Montreal for a long weekend. Our server, Sam, was friendly, attentive and helpful with any questions we had regarding the menu. My husband and I went with the tasting menu and our daughter ordered off the regular menu. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Montreal and will recommend Bonaparte to friends and family.

The food and ambiance were both excellent! The portion sizes are also generous for fine dining, which led to my boyfriend and I over-ordering (a good problem to have!) We Gad the onion soup, lobster bisque, mushroom ravioli, roasted duck breast, and lobster linguine. Everything was perfectly cooked except for the pasta. My boyfriend found it to be overcooked but the seafood in the dish was perfect. We also had the chocolate mousse which was not too heavy and not too sweet. I would highly recommend eating here.

Saw the reviews on Yelp and decided to try this restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was perfect. We got the tasting menu and it took about 3 hours from start to end. So if you're not in a rush to go somewhere after dinner, then i would highly recommend this restaurant. Next time we visit Mtl again, we will definitely eat at Bonaparte again.

Bonaparte was a very pleasant and delicious experience. The waitstaff was friendly, professional and respectful of our conversation. We three all had the Table D’Hote. A great value. The rabbit tartin was exceptional. When visiting Montreal again we would return in a heartbeat!

Never a disappointment! We visit Bonaparte whenever we go to Montreal and more than once. The myriad of flavors, the presentation is gorgeous and the service is simply wonderful. The mushroom ravioli is to die for and the thinnest I have even seen and the cream sauce is divine. The ladies room is gorgeous too!

We stumbled upon this restaurant during our walk in Old Montreal... it was not on our radar of places to visit but the windows looked inviting as did he beautiful looking food arriving at them. We checked the menu and I made a reservation for Sunday Evening ( not all restaurants in Montreal are open Sundays... so we were happy to secure a really nice looking spot for that night) The place was gorgeous, different rooms, each with a different feel. Our Request for a bench rather than a chair was accommodated. ( we have a 7 year old son and he prefers a bench since many chairs are just not suitable and he's past booster seat age) - they brought him his off-menu requested items VERY quickly - so we got our little guy fed quickly and he was happy to let us enjoy the rest of our amazing meal in relative peace. Service was first rate, efficient and friendly - never had to look for a server and didn't have them pouncing on us when they were not needed. The food was beautiful and a great combination of luxurious without being super heavy. We shared a lobster salad which was DIVINE - the tastes were subtle but the lobster was very fresh and sweet. I had the Foie Gras with "Creme Brûlée" and the Mushroom Ravioli with sage ( the pasta was the highest most flavourful pasta - it was DELICIOUS!) my husband had the Dover Sole - it was excellent as well. I had the Symphony of Desserts - very pleasant and well priced ( $12) - wish we'd tried one of the soufflés and will on another trip. Next time we return ( and we definitely shall as it blew our other meals right out of the water) - we will do the tasting menu - it looked terrific and for a formal restaurant, was surprisingly well priced.... it's not a cheap meal.. but it's not over -the top either. It was a real find and we will return.

We went here on vacation for dinner. Everything we ordered was delicious! I had the rack of lamb- excellently prepared. My husband had the scallops and my brother in law had the fettuccini and seafood dish. We were all pleased. The chocolate chip soufflé was outstanding! I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff was solicitous and they do not rush you.

The excellent food was only exceeded by the fantastic service.

We had lunch on a warm day and came upon a refreshing oasis in Old Town Montreal. The mushroom ravioli for starters was very tasteful. My wife had a salad for her main while I had the duck leg confit - nice sauce and prepared wonderfully.

Service was attentive and affable. Really enjoyed our lunch!

The restaurant was beautiful and the people were incredibly kind and enthusiastic. We had the six course meal and it took about two hours. By the time the main course came we were tired and somewhat disinterested. It seemed to take very long in between courses which tended to be annoying. The food was good but nothing special or extraordinary.
