Wonderful meal in this elegant maison!
If you don't have tast buds this is the place for you. The food is very bland and tastless. The only great thing about this place is the service. Aside from that don't wast your money, it's not worth it.
This was the perfect Montreal experience. The food was excellent and the service was superb.
Our reservation was ready when we arrived. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was well presented and tasted very good. We were not disappointed in anyway.
Excellent, varied menu. Quality dining. Service was not only warm and friendly, but explained in detail the menu options. Wonderful and delicious experience!
We come up from Vermont a couple times a year and this is our new favorite!
Was just OK. Ambiance is lovely, service is good, but food is just OK. Two of us had the Dover Sole-- almost the most expensive thing on menu and it was pretty unremarkable. I was disappointed. There are so many other places in Montreal to choose from and i wish I had chosen differently.
Phenomenon experience and attention to detail. Definitely recommended and always make a reservation!
The food was slightly less than superlative which was what we were expecting. There were very long waits between courses. The presentation, wine suggestionsand waiter service were all very good. Overall we were happy with our experience, but not wowed!
My daughter and I dined at Bonaparte while on vacation in Montreal. Our second time in Montreal and at Bonaparte. Delicious meal and wonderful service. Look forward to dining there on our next visit!
It was good!
Highly recommend the tasting menu! Mushroom ravioli and Dover sole were heavenly!
Wine choices by the glass were very poor. Otherwise everything was quite nice.
Upon making the reservation on Open Table a notation was made regarding a life threatening allergy to eggs. The host acknowledged this notation when we arrived. We informed our waiter and reiterated the severity of the allergy on numerous occasions. Despite our repeated reminders, twice during our meal, egg containing ingredients were served to the guest with the allergy. After the first event, I admonished the waiter as to the deadly consequence a mistake would cause. Yet, it happened again. It was only because of our vigilance and persistent questioning that we avoided a potentially fatal outcome. When we dine at a fine restaurant we expect that the trust we give to the establishment be honored. A chef or manager never came to the table to apologize. Unfortunately, we have previously experienced an unexpected visit to an intensive care unit due to someones negligence. We nearly had a repeat and possibly fatal experience last night.
A lovely place to enjoy dinner. Service was friendly and the food terrific.
Pick a night when tourists from the cruise ships are in the area and you have a home run.
Lovely ambiance, perfect service. I had the duck breast. The sauce was delicious but the meat was a bit tough.
Had intimate romantic dinner with my wife! Awesome 👍🏻
Fantastic service for our anniversary meal:) great food, a lovely traditional French restaurant.
I will begin by saying this is definitely a "special occasion" destination. That being said, it was worth every penny. Old school charm and service matched with bright, delicious, fresh food. Our server Nadia was solicitous and professional. A classic old-world experience in a beautiful room. We started with aperitifs at the bar where we enjoyed conversation with fellow patrons and the bartender. Then we were seated in a beautiful room near a roaring fire and had memorable meals. Highly recommend.
Dinner was definitely as good as it gets, both the food and the service!
We had a wonderful meal and a great evening; we enjoyed the tasting menu which was absolutely perfect and very reasonably priced. The reason for the 4 stars overall and 3 for service is that our server was definitely over the top. We were two ladies out for a nice evening and the server was very flirty. We did not want for anything but we would have preferred more professionalism and of course dream of a world of where unwanted attention such as this didn't follow women everywhere.
We had a wonderful experience celebrating our 20th anniversary. Both the staff and food were excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Great French fare at a good value. Really enjoyed our dinner
It is always a pleasure to dine at the Bonaparte. Fine dining and excellent service in a comfortable environment.
Wonderful food, great service and beautiful location in Old Montreal.
My two sisters and I were quite pleased with our appetizers and entrees. Our server made an extra effort to find out the answers to a few questions we had about the menu. I like the ambiance there -- especially since it is brightly lit with nice decor.
We had one of the best meals we have ever had here. It is not inexpensive but does represent excellent value. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the food was outstanding. We would highly recommend this place for people looking for a wonderful night out. Note it is currently difficult to get to the restaurant as they have torn up the cobblestones in front of the restaurant but there is a path through the fencing. However it makes it difficult for taxi's and Uber to get to you.
My husband and I were visiting Montreal then took a 10-day Regent Seven Seas Fall Colors cruise. As good as our two-week experience was, Bonaparte was the best meal we enjoyed and Bonaparte was sublime.
Very good experience and well worth visiting. Menu with good choices and the choices we made were very well executed. A favourite destination each time I visit Montreal. Hope they fix the roads before my next visit.
Absolutely outstanding. Somehow I'd gotten the mistaken impression that Bonaparte was good but old-fashioned and stodgy. I guess it was the fact that reviews often referred to it as a long-time fixture on the restaurant scene. I made the reservation anyway expecting the quality to outweigh an overly traditional menu. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Bonaparte is both a very high quality restaurant and one with an innovative and intriguing menu. My wife and I had an excellent meal and hope to go back in the near future.
We had a beautiful meal at the Hotel Bonaparte. My husband had the Fillet Mignon and I had the Duct Breast, both meals were stunning. We’re staying at the Hotel and the staff both in the restaurant and on the Concierge are very welcoming and a pleasure to encounter. We highly recommend both the restaurant and the Hotel for a wonderful experience in Montreal.
Breakfast is also of a very good standard.
Lovely! French in ambiance. Great service. Good food. Reasonable wine menu.
Delicious. I recommend the mushroom ravioli. It was incredible. Service was excellent and the atmosphere is lovely.
wonderful food as always with exceptional staff and in particular our waiter Clement.
The visit was due to a friend recommendation who had been there the previous week. Other friends (two elderly English speaking women) were treated flippantly (they asked for more time to look at the menu and he said OK I will give you one minute) by their waiter but we went anyway. We are glad we did as our female waiter was superb. The meal (terrine followed by venison) was outstanding in all aspects including presentation. The wine is extensive but also WBG and 1/2 litre is available and quite good.
the entrance is through the hotel Bonaparte lobby so please persevere. Truly a top notch dining experience. Pricey by Montreal standards but within reason for the meal.
Food was fantastic - we tried confit, French onion soup and scallops - all excellent. Highlight was server, young petite woman, personable with great knowledge of menu and ingredients. Return in a heartbeat.
Very elegant but a little pricy. The food was unique and the service was great.
My wife and I visited the restaurant for the first time in June and decided to return due to the excellent food and service. Nothing had changed since the first visit. Great food, good service. My only issue was that it was my wife’s birthday a few days ago and I had specifically asked for a candle on her desert, which the restaurant often does brilliantly. No candle came, even after I spoke to someone when we arrived. That was disappointing.
This is a very nice, professionally managed restaurant. We would never have chosen a Saturday evening to dine, but a birthday required.it.. Good food, slow but cheery service, overall good experience. They do a good job, all the details correct, highly recommended on any other night.
Catherine, basically, made our night. Don’t let her get away; she’s a “keeper”!
