Was a great atmosphere, great service and good selection of drinks.
Great location, ambiance and drinks.
the food and drinks were declines! Will come back!
Great service. Wide range of cocktails. Very comfortable atmosphere.
Well we were staying in the Hotel Gray on a cold night and opted to stay in and eat upstairs. We have traveled to Peru and were intrigued to try out the Tapa style menu.
The Pisco Sour was spot on so is you have never tried these do. The meal was sadly not really very exciting. Yuka fries were meh, the empanada was greasy, the Mahi was the best item we tried. Nothing was terrible and the staff were good but the meal was a little disappointing.
There seemed to be a short staffing problem, which resulted in a delay in our orders. There also seems to be an issue with a lack in update in their online menu, as we didn't have a lot of things available to us anymore.
Drinks were amazing. The muscles were undercooked and not the best deal. Stick to the drinks and empanadas
The aesthetic of this place was very nice and also makes a good spot for pictures. The food portions were quite small for the price which makes sense because it was tapas.
Food was good, be prepared for small bites. Our server was a little slow, had to go to hostess stand to ask for bill and had to pay at the entrance which wasn’t ideal.
Extremely small portions, not very helpful waitstaff. NOT ALLERGY FRIENDLY!!! Very expensive with extremely small portions.
Went with my wife for Valentine’s Day. Excellent food and great service. Was a touch loud. Overall it was a great date spot and was perfect for a pre-theatre dinner.
The empanadas were great and so were the ceviche and the tiradillo. The pulpo and beef were very bland. Our waitress was attentive and apologized for the delay in bringing the food and drinks.
The pisco sour was ok, but not great.
The maracuya dessert was outstanding.
Since the food was expensive, we expected better quality food.
We will not be going back.
Food was good. Plates were small but tasty and authentic flavors.
The only thing that was disapointing was the attitude of the waiter.
Boleo has great drinks and amazing shareable Peruvian dishes. Friday nights they have live music, and the staff is great.
I highly recommend if you’re looking for a hidden gen
Staff at both the 2nd floor bar and the host and waitress at Baleo were sweet and accommodating! They sent out desserts when I asked for the dessert menu, as we had discussed, for a birthday surprise for my friend for her birthday. They all made the experience a very positive and memorable one.
We were advised incorrectly on how much food to order for 12 people by Atleast half. My clients left hungry so we had to go somewhere else. We could have ordered more.... if I could get the servers attention. I had to keep tracking down the server for drink and food orders. Lastly dirty plates piled up quickly and I had to track down more people to take them. I had 2k budgeted for the event and only spend 25 percent because I couldn’t get anyone’s attention.
Great food. Drinks were tasty but the bar service was extremely slow.
It was ok Not bad not great It would be better to seat parties based on size as we were two and next to 6 who were very loud
The small plates offerings were generally good, but limited compared to the drinks menu, and severely limited for my vegetarian companion. Definitely a bar with food vs. a restaurant with bar service. Very small crowd on a Friday night, but the design of the space makes sound travel so it was noisier than expected. Small plates we ordered were really small, except for mussels and fried rice dishes, so it was also a relatively expensive choice for dinner vs. snacks. I don't think we'll be going back any time soon.
Amazing food and service!
Great food options in a beautiful setting. Our party of 4 had a comfortable spot under the atrium share small plates and conversation.
Boleo would be closed for a few days, the night we visited was to be their final night before this temporary closed. There were many items missing from the menu. As visitors from to Chicago, we were a little disappointed to see so many options be cut out of the menu, without offering an alternate option or maybe a complementary drink? We made our reso with Boleo from our hometown and would have preferred to have tried it during a time when more options could have been sampled from the menu.
Service was great, options that we did get to select from were also good.
Very good food very well prepared almost everything was great we had the chicken thighs, the salmon ceviche, the short ribs, the duck, good but not great, but all in all the food was wonderful. But do note, with live music it makes it very very very hard to have conversations but if you want the good food
We enjoyed our dinner here! The food was very good - we loved everything we tried. While service wasn’t necessarily bad, there were definitely opportunities. What we needed was happily provided, but we did have to ask for almost everything. We are glad we tried Boleo and will likely return for Happy Hour but will reserve a full dinner for somewhere else.
Great spot for after work happy hour. Loved the happy hour menu!
Although it’s a roof top, it has no windows other than the roof.
Wonderful location and ambiance, and the servers were all friendly and attentive. The food overall was amazing, especially the aji sauces. The one less than extraordinary dish was the yucca fries: good but not fried quite to perfection.
Third time eating here since the hotel opened. Tasty, inventive menu, cool space, very friendly servers. Only negative was the ceviche, which was extremely spicy to the point of being nearly inedible, and I generally love spicy food. Off that the server seemed suprised when we mentioned
The service wasn't good, but no fault of our heroic waiter who had an impossible task – there should have been at least two wait staff in our area. The pisco sour was excellent, and the food more than decent, although not up to the best Peruvians I've eaten in. The room is gigantic, a barn, which does mean it doesn't suffer from the besetting noise problem of many/most Chicago restaurants. Pleasant overall, but not especially memorable.
Even being small plates, food portions were quite small for the price. Not a good value in this competitive Chicago restaurant environment
We were celebrating and wanted a roof top bar The location and ambiance is great with a view of the “Sears” tower. The food tasted good however we all woke the next morning with a mild case of indigestion which manifested differently for everyone except one -a vegan who felt fine. Our server was really attentive and did a great job but the hostess was unpleasant and maybe should not be the first person you meet.
Excellent happy hour as always! Jason was amazing and had some really great knowledge and banter that impressed my business colleagues! Great atmosphere too!
Boleo's service is excellent and happy hour is a great deal! However, their new menu leaves a little to be desired having taken several of their ceviches dishes off for now. I was also surprised to find that many of the new dishes on the menu are very spicy and seemed to be overwhelming with garlic which was not my experience the first time I dined there. I would give it another try because the drinks and ambiance are great! Hoping their next new menu is upgraded.
