Michelin starred Boka Restaurant has been a fixture in Chicago dining since 2003. In January 2014, Chef Lee Wolen joined as Executive Chef/Partner after the restaurant underwent a major renovation. Since his time at Boka, critics have taken notice. Phil Vettel of Chicago Tribune and Eater Chicago both named Lee as “2014 Chef of the Year.” Most recently, Lee was named 2015 “Chef of the Year." Boka’s food features contemporary, American cuisine, focusing on seasonality and sourcing as many local ingredients as possible.

What Insiders Are Saying
Boka serves fancy contemporary American food, but it still manages to be cool and fun despite being nice and expensive.
Great place to take folks visiting Chicago. Our server Brandon was excellent. Definitely will dine here again!
Second time getting the tasting menu, the asparagus was by far the star of the show. The bass is my personal recommendation as far as entrees to. So many creative dishes and the service is always spot on. Can’t recommend Boka enough!
Amazing dinner before a show. The ricotta dumplings and crudo are fantastic, the duck was delicious and each of the desserts was incredible. Loved the cocktails and a nice wine list. Portions are not enormous but I actually love a wonderful dinner with dessert when you don't leave miserably full.
The courses were great!!
Everything was amazing! This is what a true Michelin rated restaurant should be like. Service, taste, ambiance were all great!
The service was excellent as were the drinks. We both enjoyed the starters and deserts but thought our main courses fell short. We had different meals but thought the cooking method chosen for both required a higher standard of produce than was used.
Loved everything across the board. Can’t wait to visit again someday.
Had a 8 course meal experience which was outstanding. Server was gr8, meals placed at regular intervals, exceptionally tasty desserts, would love to visit this location again.
Expected more from Michelin star restaurant. Limited choices, fish tasted a bit past its prime, waiter forgot our potatoes (but did not charge us). Meal just ok.
Phenomenal experience! We had the 8 course tasting menu. The staff made it a special night for us
Been waiting 15 years to go here, shouldn't have waited so long!
Our experience was simply average. I had heard so many great things about dining here but nothing really stood out as being worth all that praise. There are so many restaurants in Chicago at this price point that I feel offer more so we won’t be returning.
Terrible experience. Kitchen was extremely slow. It was clear the waitress could care less about our table. It was like she gave up in the middle, stopped caring or trying to make our experience right. The food was mediocre at best. Will never return. Waste of money.
I came with a couple friends for Restaurant Week. We were seated on the patio side of the restaurant. It was nice, but a little quieter and didn’t have quite the same ambiance as the main dining area. I’d request the other side next time.
Service was good. I liked that service wasn’t overly intrusive, but there were a couple times we did have to flag our server down. We had mentioned that one of my friends just got promoted at work, and they wrote congratulations on her dessert dish. That was a very nice touch.
The food was the highlight. The cavatelli and roasted chicken were fantastic. Overall, it was a very good dining experience, and I look forward to going back again.
Great we had a lovely time
Very tasty but portions were small and paired wine for the main course was too strong that it overpowered the main dish.
Enjoyed restaurant week menu.
The people at Boka were helpful with my cow's milk allergy. The food was interesting and in general tasty. But the salmon was a little overcooked for my taste and I think the chicken had been brined a little too long.
Food was good, service great, very high corkage fee and the portions of the prefix menu are tiny
We dined at Boka during Chicago restaurant week and we’re definitely not disappointed. It was a really cold and miserable evening. And they were running behind, but after a delicious, unique, and satisfying drink at the bar. We were set. From the fresh, hot rolls and creamy butter to the pork neck (Happy Chinese NY!), we didn’t NOT love anything. Can’t wait to go back.
We went for Restaurant week. The menu was absolutely delicious; the shrimp in particular were spectacular. The wine pairing was reasonable and very well selected -- a different wine for each dish. So my wife and I, who ordered different dishes (and shamelessly swapped) got a wholly different selection of excellent wines. I really do not regret the choice.
The food was good, ambiance was great, overall great value meal for Restaurant Week.
We went there for a restaurant week menu. Food is fantastic, worth every dollars.
Our waiter was marvelous! Beautiful space and fun food.
Restaurant week. Food was delicious. I have been wanting to try this restaurant and it delivered.
My favorite restaurant in Chicago. Love love love!
Don’t skip dessert.
The waiter was a little bit impatient.
I think boka is the best Michelin one star restaurant in Chicago. Excellent service , beautiful interior and superb taste.
Boka has proven over the years to be a great destination for food, wine and impeccable service.
There is a reason Boka is a Michelin starred restaurant. The ambiance, level of service and the quality of the food are all outstanding. Add in the Restaurant Week price of only $48.00 each and it’s a great value. My wife and I have gone here for five straight years and will continue to dine here.
It was Amazing!
Thank you for a lovely evening. We sat in your pretty green room and it was worth the wait. The food and drinks were perfect and the service was excellent. We can’t wait to come back!
Restaurant Week experience. Surprised by some courses, disappointed by others...
Chicago restaurant week. The food is delicious. Love the pork neck. but onething is not good. We have a reservation at 9.45, but when we got there on time we still need to wait.
Amazing experience!! Excellent food, service, and ambiance. If you want to have an amazing culinary experience- this is the place to be!
I have been to Boka twice and each time I am blown away by how wonderful the experience is.
First, lets start with the service. The service is wonderful. Everyone is friendly and very attentive. The meal was perfectly paced from start to finish. On to the food!
2 friends and I had the pleasure of eating the restaurant week menu which was amazing from start to finish. I had the opportunity to try everything on the menu!
Roasted Beets • My favorite cold app. Was fresh and well seasoned.
Marinated Hamachi • *GF- smaller in size but absolutely delicious
Shaved Foie Gras • bGF- perfectly seasoned
HOT- All three below were absolutely wonderful!
Key West Pink Shrimp • - Plump shrimp that were perfectly cooked. The sauce was amazing.
Ricotta Dumplings • black truffle, pecorino, broccoli *V- Perfectly prepared and delicious.
Cauliflower Soup • - This was completely delicious soup! I highly recommend this. Its smooth and creamy.
Grilled Salmon • bok choy, turnip, pickled daikon *GF- Perfectly cooked salmon with crispy skin. The sauce that came with it was out of this world; would have preferred just a little more sauce.
Tagliatelle • One thing we didn't try.
Roasted Chicken • caramelized celery root, chewy beets, chinese broccoli *GF- This was the best chicken I have ever had. The skin was crispy and brown and the breast was totally tender. If you love chicken you will love this!!
Slow Roasted Pork Neck • sunchoke, grilled cabbage, pickled mustard seeds *GF- This was tender and the sauce went perfectly with the meat.
Dark Chocolate • black sesame, banana, osmanthus *GF- not a fan of chocolate but the banana was perfectly carmelized
Mango • blood orange, earl grey, coconut, meyer lemon *V,GF- tangy and fresh
Pear • almond, chai, brown sugar caramel *G- My favorite dessert of the evening! Hands down. Spiced and amazing with homemade ice cream
I would go back again and again to eat this menu! I encourage you to try this amazing restaurant!
Very professional service. Attentive without being invasive and very professional. Amazing ambience. Food was all excellent and portion sizes were enough for everyone to leave full. Have been here twice and was impressed both times. Highly recommend!
Our server Jack was amazing. We were there for the restaurant week offering and enjoyed all our courses. Hamachi and the the roasted chicken were our favorites. Jack made excellent recommendations and managed to talk us into returning for some of their regular dishes. We will just have to do that!
Everything at Boka was so special. Loved the coat check, beautiful ambiance, perfectly paired food and wine, and impeccable service.
Generally, I'm a huge fan of Boka and Restaurant Week is a great way to try different things you wouldn't normally order. I found this experience to be a tiny bit lackluster in terms of the environment and service. However, the cocktails we great, the wine pairings with the meals were nice, and the food was quite good.
