Michelin starred Boka Restaurant has been a fixture in Chicago dining since 2003. In January 2014, Chef Lee Wolen joined as Executive Chef/Partner after the restaurant underwent a major renovation. Since his time at Boka, critics have taken notice. Phil Vettel of Chicago Tribune and Eater Chicago both named Lee as “2014 Chef of the Year.” Most recently, Lee was named 2015 “Chef of the Year” and Boka restaurant was awarded 2015 “Restaurant of the Year” at Chicago’s coveted Jean Banchet Awards. Boka’s food features contemporary, American cuisine, focusing on seasonality and sourcing as many local ingredients as possible. Pasty Chef Meg Galus joined Boka’s kitchen in 2015 and provides a seamless transition between savory and sweet, mirroring Wolen’s use of excellent, high quality ingredients that are prepared and plated beautifully.

What Insiders Are Saying
Boka serves fancy contemporary American food, but it still manages to be cool and fun despite being nice and expensive.
Did not like the Greek farmed striped bass dish. The fish was a little fishy which in my opinion should never happened but I am hopeful it was flash frozen and not plastic sealed frozen. I think a restaurant your caliber should only offer fresh fish or don't bother putting it on the menu. The beet salad and dumplings were excellent.
Very enjoyable evening to celebrate boyfriend’s birthday. My short ribs and sweetbreads was delicious, as was his duck and another’s venison. I would definitely make it back to Boka.
We had the best dinner ever! Our waiter Augustis was amazing. His recommendations did not disappoint. We had the Spanish octopus, ricotta dumplings and beef tartare to start. The dumplings melted in your mouth. As our entrees we got the short ribs, chicken, and duck. All of the entrees were delicious but the duck was extra special.
We enjoyed the beet salad, ricotta dumplings, sea bass, and the cod! Service was outstanding.
Magnificent food, great wine list, impeccable service. We even made a mistake on the time and arrived late. They handled the difference with ease and got us to our play on time.
Augustus was our server he was totally amazing! All of the food was out of this world and exceptional. Several of us ordered the duck and it was outstanding! What a wonderful experience. Great girls weekend in Chicago!
I've been to Boka twice in the last month. I don't generally repeat restaurants as there are so many great ones in Chicago but this one is fantastic! Everything was fantastic including the service. I highly recommend. Not as much of a theatrical experience as Alinea but the food was as good.
I get the buzz now about Boka! Incredible service-always present and helpful but unobtrusive. Very accommodating regarding requested slight tweaks to menu. Wine recommendations perfect. Ask about items not on menu (a wonderful house salad). Had the best cod I've ever had. Bar was hopping and both restaurant and bar managed to be elegant yet relaxed and comfortable. Will definitely be back.
Had a most enjoyable birthday celebration at BOKA. Attentive staff, discrete and appropriate. No Hoop-la. Delicious food, as ever, pastry chef was outstanding. A perfect place to celebrate birthdays or anything else.
Phenomenal experience - from food to the service everything was exceptional. The fine dining at its best. Dishes were unique - without compromising the flavors in over all experience
Well deserved Michelin star! Very creative in many ways.
Fantastic! Expect the very best ingredients used in ways you never thought possible. Magic the way some of it comes together. Beef Tartarre app that will change your life. Impeccable service. Very professional - attentive but not overly so.
Four of us enjoyed a wonderful early evening meal at this outstanding restaurant on Saturday, December 1st, 2018. As this was my wife's birthday, I was sure to book the table making note of this special event.
As we were seated at our table we were all greeted with a pre-placed menu at each seat exclaiming "Happy Birthday!" Along with Brandon's attention to detail, this set the tone for the evening.
Each of us tried a different cocktail based upon a few questions and suggestions that proved to be spot on upon our first sips.
It was recommended to each choose an appetizer and then share as the portions are on the smaller side. Once they arrived and we each had our first bites, all refused to share and were only willing to provide a small taste or two.
For the main course, upon Brandon's recommendation, I chose the duck for one. My wife and her friend opted for the chicken and my friend picked the short ribs. Again we shared small bites with each other and found that each entree was exceptional. By far though, the duck was the favorite of everyone.
We all chose different desserts and as before we sampled each others. The textures and flavor of each dessert was nothing short of brilliant.
Our seating was at 5:45 and I planned a show at 9. I had not planned event in between and was contemplating at the beginning of the meal what to do after. I quickly realized that I did not have to worry as we were encouraged by the staff to take our time and enjoy the experience. This we did, ending our evening at Boka with a toast to the birthday girl at 8:15.
Be careful: the food portion is not small compared to most other fine dining spots, especially the main dishes. Considering its size, the price is more than reasonable I would say. The espresso and tea selections are outstanding, which is a hidden gem in its menu.
The sea bass as main is more than fabulous and all the appetizers cannot go wrong.
Would definitely come back again sometimes, when I’m really hungry.
The roasted duck was so good
You forgot the option “quality of food” which was outstanding. So was the service. Kudos to the young lady at reception who helped me with my Uber
Delicious food and great service!
An amazing experience for a very special birthday!
Tisch Reservierung ohne Probleme. Kein Zeitdruck.
The food was tremendous and the service was perfect. We did the 6 course tasting menu. Fantastic!
Tasting menu is well worth the cost. Varied courses made for a perfect meal and left us guessing what would be next. Highly recommend and can't wait to go again!
Another great meal at Boka! We had such a wonderful time. Great cocktails on the list, and wonderful menu items to choose from. I highly recommend the roast duck -- it's the best I've ever had!
This is perhaps my favorite restaurant to go to for a special occasion! Everything was perfect and the food was once again OUTSTANDING!! Highly recommended.
Delicious food, wonderful service and beautiful atmosphere. They go out of their way for you
We always enjoy Boka. The ambiance is quiet and refined, but not stuffy. The service is attentive and friendly. We usually get the seasonal tasting menu with reserve beverage pairings. The food is always great with unique and interesting flavors. The cocktails are equally stand outs. It’s a fun and relaxing dining experience.
Best meal. They we're all very nice as well. We had a great time and the food was delicious.
great food, dessert to improve, maybe a bit too dark
Family of five all together. Very accommodating for a vegan. Delicious food. Husband and son left hungry as very $$ beef with very small portion.
It was our anniversary, and Boka could not have given us a more special experience!
Everything from food to service was great!!
It was a great place to visit on Sunday evening definitely recommending to make a reservation and taste the delicious chief meals
Swanky and sophisticated place for a special date!
Excellent food, service and ambiance! Went specifically for the “White Truffle Season”. Also ate at their sister restaurant GT Prime Steakhouse the night before, excellent!!
Boka is perhaps the most consistent venue in Chicago. Been coming here regularly for several years now and always have a fantastic dining experience. We greatly enjoyed a round of cocktails at the bar upon arrival and then opted for the tasting menu. The dining room is beautiful and comfortable and the staff at Boka is among the friendliest and skilled in the industry. The meal itself was phenomenal; the octopus was my favorite dish of the night, but was hit-after-hit. Look forward to returning soon.
The wizards in the kitchen are well supported by the capable wait staff for a memorable experience.
A wonderful dining experience in a first class restaurant. Be aware it's about 20 minutes outside the downtown loop area if you are visiting and staying in the loop area of Chicago.
The food was excellent. The service was outstanding. It was our first trip to Chicago and our first time in Boka. We went to celebrate our anniversary, and they succesfully made it into an unforgettable night. Everithing was on point and delicious
Excellent restaurant with exquisite food, lovely decor and a fun vibe! Would recommend to anyone and everyone.
Food was exceptional and service was amazing! Second time at Boka and looking forward to returning!
