Wonderful waiter and excellent food. Everything was outstanding!!! The only issue small issue was that the restaurant was particularly warm in our corner.
Great service, amazing food. Very happily surprised, will definitely be back.
This is a great restaurant and maybe it was an off night, or maybe we ordered poorly, but it wasn't as amazing as the last time I went. Don't get me wrong, this is still an amazing restaurant but there was a few things that were off. Our main server never check back in on us when food was served, it was super cold to the point i had to go get my wife's coat from the coat check.
Best duck on the planet. Great service and an incredible value for a Michelin starred restaurant.
Excellent upscale dining venue with beautifully executed cuisine accompanied by a superior wine and spirits list.
BOKA was outstanding. Total transparency, we were there during restaurant by week, so it wasn’t their full menu, but what we had was simply outstanding. The best we are during the two week restaurant week. Every course was unreal. They were gorgeous and filled with flavor. I cannot wait to go back!
Lovely place with excellent food .Best taste experience
Great food and a great atmosphere. The taste is really amazing. The service is also prefect.
Delicious, creative food paired with outstanding, attentive service. We loved taking advantage of the Chicago Restaurant week deals. Ambiance was lovely - restaurant was full and lively but not too loud.
It was great! Would recommend. Really good date location, great cocktails, had a great time!
Amazing food and service. One of the best meals I ever had!
Finally made it to BOKA, overall good but wished and was hoping for more.
1. Ambiance: Really liked it! Dining room is beautiful and well laid out. Darker atmosphere.
2. Food was alright. Honestly had higher expectations since it has been hyped up quite a bit. Some of the courses were very good and others were just okay. For example the foie gras was excellent as was dessert. However, the chicken entree was a bit dry and soup which was unique in flavor was nothing to write home about. Balanced drink menu with BOTH alcoholic and nonalcoholic cocktails was another strength of the restaurant. I tried all three “mocktails” on the menu for the evening and all three were very good and had interesting flavor profiles.
3. Service. I’ve had mixed feelings about the service. Our waitress was very courteous but I couldn’t help but notice that important elements were lacking. Drinks took a very long time, and there were times that we had a course served but no setting was given. The waitress even came over and asked us how the food was and we had to tell her we don’t have a serving to actually eat it. Obviously she apologized and was very professional so props to her but I still think that at a restaurant of this caliber these are some pretty glaring service inconsistencies. It was restaurant week and it was busy so perhaps it was just an off day.
I probably would come back and try their “normal menu” but with more realistic expectations.
The foie gras appetizer was a little like a delicious peanut butter and jelly paste. The roast bass was a nice small second course, and the hazelnut/ice cream dessert was delicious. As was the Bordeaux wine we chose. And the dinner roll with butter should not be skipped!
A comfortable, upscale urban restaurant with outstanding food and cheerful, generous service.
We loved our food! I also would recommend the wine pairing. Everything we had was fantastic and the service was great. The ambiance was also nice as it was easy to talk but not too quiet.
Amazing food! Visited during the Restaurant week and the food which I chose from the selected menu was delicious! Great spot and really loved the atmosphere!!!
We went for RW with a small group of friends. Absolutely phenomenal food as well as fantastic service. We were so pleased with every dish and impressed with the attention to detail for plating and presentation. Thank you for such a lovely meal and such a lovely experience.
Everything was extremely slow. We arrived on time and had to wait 20 minutes before we were seated. Nobody from the staff acknowledged this situation or apologized. I had to remind them that we were still waiting. Our waitress was slow - after sitting with our menus for 10 minutes, she took our drink orders. When we then mentioned that we were also ready for our food orders, she said she needed a moment and then took another 10 minutes to come back. Otherwise, the experience was very nice - amazing food and ambiance. Though the start of the night certainly put a hamper on the overall experience. I normally don't leave reviews, but I had emailed Boka about this experience and never heard back. I had visited Boka a month prior for their full tasting menu and that was an amazing experience, but my most recent visit makes me not want to go back.
Even more lovely than I anticipated, delighted to make it to Boka for Restaurant week and enjoyed the prix fixe menu 2020. Service attentive and knowledgeable, ambience classy. Please do continue to have diversity on your front staff roster.
The service and food was exceptional. All the servers explained in detail what was being served. The food was delicious and very rich. I was satisfied at the end of the meal even though the servings were small. I let Open table know we were celebrating my son's birthday. His dessert came with a candle in it, no singing which he was grateful. Boka made it a memorable evening!
We went there early. We were well served in the bar. The food is wonderful. The chicken is surprisingly good.
Our restaurant week dinner was amazing. Of course I had high expectations from this Michelin starred restaurant and I was not disappointed. Very well thought out courses and extremely well matched wines. The laid back atmosphere let's you just enjoy the meal.
Boka has the best Restaurant Week menu! Great meal!
Went for 2020 restaurant week. Great food and great value!
Above and beyond service. Boka knows how to take care of it's guest. Great experience and will definitely be back!
The food was a big meh
My favorite resultant in Chicago. Approachable fine dining. Such wonderful complex yet simple flavors. Top-notch ingredients. Never been disappointed.
If you are looking for food that is truly amazing from taste to presentation, try Boka! I'd recommend trying at any time but during restaurant week you'll get to taste more options.
It lives up to its recognitions, awards, and reviews.
Elliot and Augustus are the best. The food is always great but the service is top notch.
Relaxing atmosphere. The bread roll melts in your mouth. Foie gras dish tasted like adult version of peanut butter. Must try one of the drinks on drink menu.
Awesome dinner for restaurant week
Kale the waiter was so awesome!! He took such good care of us and was so professional/warm/humble and answered all questions we had about the menu. I never knew a michilin star restaurant could be so fancy-pants without that atmosphere of arrogance/better-than-thou that most fancy places have. It was elegant without being uncomfortable or unapproachable. I think that 4-course meal was the worst thing that ever happened to me in a way, because now I'll forever be chasing that high of the flavor explosions my mouth experienced that night. Now I'm gonna go to other restaurants and think to myself, "This is good, but it's no Boka!" Absurdly amazing restaurant. Loved every moment I was there and every microgram of food on my plate. Recommended this place to all of my friends/coworkers. 11/10 Thanks for the wonderful birthday, Boka. 🖤
I went there for a restaurant week 4 year ago which a memorable experiences. But at this time, the food and service just ok.
I am saddened to write this review. Do NOT waste your time or money here during restaurant week. With all of the accolades this restaurant has received along with it's stellar reputation, I was surprised by the dismal performance. The foie gras appetizer was a joke and the beet salad was mediocre at best. The octopus had decent flavor and the rigatoni was the standout dish for the second course. In the third, the chicken was rubbery and the salmon was under seasoned and under sauced. The desserts were the best of the evening, but nothing to write home about. The staff was hovering over every morsel so they could remove your plate immediately and turn the table quickly. I was so looking forward to this meal. What a shame.
The service and food was outstanding. The salmon was incredibly fresh and well prepared. The deserts were incredibly yummy. The dining area is a low light and well appointed.
Ok experience. Host had an attitude and wasn't very friendly. Food was good. Small portions
Came for the Restaurant Week menu. I was incredibly impressed with the food. Every dish, both mine and my date’s, were absolutely delicious. And the cocktails were top notch.
It's only been 2 days since my dinner and I have already recommended Boka to several friends and coworkers now. The food here is so divine and well-crafted for outstanding flavor profiles. I had the Chicago Restaurant Week menu and loved everything. To start with my favorite. THE DESSERT. I'm normally not a dessert person, but I will absolutely be returning to Boka if they continue to have their Lemon dessert. The balance of sweet coconut and tangy lemon was both decadent and refreshing, and I'm not sure how that's possible, but it is. My friend had the Foie Gras course, which was so silky and soft in texture with singing notes of peanut butter taste. The cauliflower soup was a great surprise as well. I've had cauliflower soup before but the taste of the cauliflower really shines in this one. Seriously! And the creaminess sets a whole new level for soup standards. Overall, the portions are perfect. You will devour everything in sight and leave this restaurant very happy.
Firmly in the running for best meal I’ve had. Service was excellent.
Restaurant week menu was great and we had good time. Definitely recommend
During restaurant week it was a good experience and I think it’s better than last year
