Michelin starred Boka Restaurant has been a fixture in Chicago dining since 2003. In January 2014, Chef Lee Wolen joined as Executive Chef/Partner after the restaurant underwent a major renovation. Since his time at Boka, critics have taken notice. Phil Vettel of Chicago Tribune and Eater Chicago both named Lee as “2014 Chef of the Year.” Most recently, Lee was named 2015 “Chef of the Year." Boka’s food features contemporary, American cuisine, focusing on seasonality and sourcing as many local ingredients as possible.

Food, service, atmosphere excellent. Covid regimen a bit over the top. Never had to take mask on and off in other restaurants. Usually once food is ordered, mask is off until after dessert.

We loved our Boka experience — the staff was incredibly helpful and attentive, the food was phenomenal, and the ambiance was great. The duck was mouthwateringly delicious, and the wine selection is fantastic. I highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious. The outdoor patio is very comfortable.
Steak Tartare was one of the most delicious and unexpected tastes... Have to get.
The only disappointment was that the dessert menu did not excite us, but we had decided to order additional appetizers -- and each was truly incredible. Can't wait till we are back in Chicago to go again.

Food was ok. First dish was literally just one bite which is disproportionate to the price. Third dish was basically just asparagus. Not worth the money, when though the atmosphere and service was great. Waiters could use a bit more training on the dishes as some of them couldn't tell which fish was served in the plate put in front of us, etc.

Tasting menu appetizers and entrees were fantastic. Unique, flavorful, well portioned. We were served lamb and halibut, which were both exceptional. Desserts left something to be desired, especially the chocolate/decadent portion. However, service, ambiance and main dishes very much outweighed that minor disappointment. Shout out to Augustus who was informative and great to us all night.

This was my first time at a Michelin rated restaurant and it just blew my mind and tastebuds. Now I understand why they are considered excellent dining and this particular restaurant has been on the list since 2011. The food was exquisite, the service was impeccable. Just out of this world and an experience worth having. The best part is this restaurant was very reasonably priced. I would return in a heartbeat for the tasting menu as we did not elect that for our visit. The ambiance is as beautiful as the food plates. 5/5 stars.

It's so rare to find a restaurant that serves quality vegetarian & meaty dishes at the same time! My partner and I chose the tasting menu with eight courses. The food has wonderful flavors & texture and is very filling. Service is great and has well-implemented public health measures. The overall ambiance is quiet and cozy.

Ambiance was great! Large comfortable booths, well-spaced booths and romantic lighting make this a great place for date nights. Cocktails were unique, interesting, and lovely - Boka clearly has a great mixologist on staff. The food was fantastic - it's easy to see why they've earned and kept a Michelin star over 4 years. We ordered the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Our server/personal sommelier was very knowledgeable about the food and wine, and clearly possessed a great depth of experience in and love for the art of pairing. Food was coursed out at an easy pace, and we did not feel rushed, despite the 2.5 hour window. All courses were fantastic, but the fluke, halibut, and duck courses were really to die for.

It is worth noting that the whole restaurant had a bit of "sewer gas" smell emanating from the downstairs restrooms, which I noticed as soon as I walked in. The quality of the bathroom was also not what I would expect from a Michelin star restaurant - the carpet walking down the stairs was worn, stained, and dingy. The bathroom itself could have belonged in a fast food restaurant. Absolutely no attention paid to comfort or aesthetic. I certainly don't need a pretty bathroom to enjoy my food, but they really ought to do something about the smell.

Expected a lot more from a 1 michelin star restaurant. Food was ok (far from outstanding). Dishes were served with little or no description. In addition ambience and treatment from staff were cold.

Great food, careful service. A la carte menu is somehow limited but they make sure to include several proteins and one vegan dish it seems. No tablecloths, bold decision but not necessarily bad. Overall good experience and vey good food.

We dined here to celebrate our 5th anniversary and it was one of the best meals we’ve had. The service was outstanding and they went above and beyond to make our dinner special. The shaved fois gras is a must - I loved it so much I ordered it again for dessert. The smoked and grilled beets are a do not miss - such a unique dish. And do not skip the roasted chicken - you will not find a better chicken dish in the city.

We started off with the Kampachi Crudo which was second to none. For entrees Laura had the Artic Char with a preparation that gave the fish a unique lovely taste. I had the Beef Short Rib which was cooked to perfection.

My waiter, Andrew, was so amazingly charming and accommodating, and all of the staff are professional and welcoming. The ambience is romantic and chic, and the drinks are imaginative and tasty.
The food was varied, creative, and delicious. When you order the tasting menu, it doesn't list what's on the menu, which allows for great surprises if you're a daring foodie, and luckily all of the food turned out to be things I love which were all made incredibly well. It was my birthday as well, so they surprised me with an extra slice of chocolate cake, which I promptly devoured. At the end of the tasting menu, Boka gives you a paper menu of your meal to take home and see what you enjoyed, and they even added a birthday message on their for me.
This is why I love going to nice restaurants: unforgettable experiences. Thank you, Boka!

We came here to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately Boka wasn’t participating Im restaurant week, but still was worth the experience. The food was very savory and cooked perfectly. They brought out a dessert for my birthday in the house! All of the staff was very professional I would definitely recommend to go to celebrate a special occasion!
