Como el nombre del nuevo restaurante del South Place Hotelpodría sugerir, el South Place Chop House se inspiró en los tradicionales restaurantes de cortes de Londres, presentando una combinación de excelente comida con el mejor servicio y un gran ambiente. El lugar ha recibido un cambio de imagen, con torres de tradicionales cazos de cobre, obras de arte por Thorbjørn Andersen y una selección de mesas para cenas íntimas, así como también grandes mesas comunitarias. Choose from Corn-Fed Free-Range Chicken, 21-Day Dry-Aged Pork Ribeye, or treat yourself to the luxurious 28-Day Dry-Aged Whole Ribeye (available for an additional £10 per person). For those feeling adventurous, our signature dish- the Carne a Trois for two boasts all three meats. Not a place for a pre-theatre dinner. It was dead. Food ok for the quite high price. Don’t be fooled by the offer of a set menu when booking. Apparently you have to select it before arriving and download a coupon to bring with you, but can’t see what dishes are on the Set Menu on the website, and maitre’d refused to allow us to consider set menu once arrived at the restaurant, despite choosing food listed on both menu’s. One of only two couples in the restaurant 5.30pm - 7pm and we’re placed on tables right to each other so could hear each others conversations. No thought or awareness! Hopefully just small teething problems but left frustrated and a little disappointed.

I was rather disappointed with the quality of the food given the price. Bacon was undercooked. I asked for replacement bacon as the sausage had gluten, but got charged extra. Toast arrived but no butter - by the time the butter arrived toast was cold. The order was taken three times because the lady didn't ask standard questions. Overall, unimpressed. Breakfast is not difficult.

Went for a dinner on Saturday, the service was really efficient and friendly, the starters were okay but the mains were very good, especially the fish and chips, probably the lightest batter I’ve had. The only challenge was that we were the only people in the restaurant so the ambience was not there, saying that we did visit at 5pm Saturday, so that is not a great time after lunch and before dinner. I would recommend as restaurant for the area.

The service was awful - grumpy and disengaged staff that either ignored you or came over and impatiently requested orders. Never took an order for drinks, until we chased, brought one drink...not the others. Didnt bring table water despite requests. The food was average at best. I had a salad (£)20, which was lettuce, one olive, bland tomato and an under cooked egg...the tuna was ok. The dressing was supposed to be mustard but was greasy and had no flavours. Shame as the overall hotel/restaurant area is lovely.

Many items on the menu were unavailable and we had to change our orders twice. Staff were not particularly friendly and we were surprised to be asked to leave 2 hours after being seated.

Service was really slow, to the point where we had to chase up someone to order drinks is and then food. Food was pretty poor, we sent one dish back as it was not cooked properly.

We had a superb waitress, the blood Mary and old fashion we ordered is the best we have ever tasted, the food was great too. The blanket down was an extremely loud, drunk party who ruined the atmosphere in the restaurant as you could hear every word they were saying. It ruined our experience. I think a manager could have sled them to keep it down ie moved it to the bar.
