   I was looking forward to a better dinner since it had been recommended by @SanDiegoMagazine and my expectations were higher. Food and service was ok but you could see it had been cooked hours ago and put under a heat light giving the sauce and meat a dry appearance. It wasn’t terrible but definitely not memorable

   We’ve been here a few times and I’ve read many of the posted reviews. Most state similar stories, the views are great and the food is an excellent surprise! Great kitchen and staff helpful but at peak times service is slow and another server needed. But a good value if your willing to wait n use patcience.

   We stayed at the BW Island Palms for 3 nights. We were thankful that there was a restaurant on premise. My husband and I are not huge eaters, and often share meals. The one thing we didn’t like, was that there was a charge to split meals, if the kitchen divided. We said no, and we divided our own plates, N/C. The meal we had was delicious...Pork Shank, that was very tender. We also had drinks in the Bar area...lively upbeat. Overall a satisfying experience.

   We had two reasons for choosing Blue Wave: location convenience as we were staying in the hotel, and fresh fish choices. Both of us ordered fish entrees (Sea Bass and Swordfish), and we were not disappointed. The fish was cooked just right—not overdone, and the respective sauces were great. The one odd thing for us was the absence of a host..for an upscale restaurant where we had reservations, it was strange to see a sign saying seat yourself and grab your own menu. The adjacent bar was pretty full and somewhat noisy but not overwhelming.

   We enjoy eating there when we come down to vacation for a couple days. We get down there about 4 or 5 times a year and always eat breakfast every morning at the Blue Wave. We love the morning servers Jose and Roberto! Sometimes we eat there for dinner and enjoy the soft lights, glow from the pool and the twinkling lights on Point Loma across the water. We’ve come to know the staff at the hotel and restaurant very well. They are apart of the charm that keeps us coming back when we get to escape to Shelter Island.

    A nice facility. I had expected something a little fancier, upscale. The entrance and the restaurant were somewhat shabby, but the facility was clean and well maintained. We ate on the patio. The service and food were very good. It seemed to us to be a great place to hang out if you has a boat moored in the area.
