Had a great meal, unique menu and very fun casual atmosphere
Went for Sunday brunch. The food was great and the different types of food were awesome. Can’t wait to go back.
I love the varied menu and atmosphere. Great for families and a variety of ages.
Blue Moose is a very good neighborhood find for those living in Prairie Village & those coming from other places. It is welcoming and has EXCELLENT SERVICE, the wait staff being friendly, always aware of the diners needs while not being too friendly or "sitting down at the table" which is becoming common in some restaurants.
The food is always excellent and it does not matter what I have ordered: It is all delicious. The Burger's are great and the Chicken & Shrimp Curry is so good I could eat two orders!
There is a beautifully arranged outdoor garden that is pet friendly. The tables are well spaced for a private conversation and on a beautiful evening or nice afternoon it is a perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends.
THERE IS ONE MAJOR FLAW that makes what was a PERFECT EVENING TURN TO LESS THAN PERFECT: SMOKING IS ALLOWED WHICH IS A REAL SHAME. WHEN ONE IS ALLERGIC TO SMOKE OR ONE JUST DOES NOT LIKE POSSIBLY GETTING LUNG CANCER FROM SECOND HAND SMOKE EATING OUT IN THEIRWELL PLANED AND WELCOMING OUTDOOR PATIO BECOMES A RISK AND A PROBLEM. SITTING OUT THEIR LAST EVENING ALL IN OUR PARTY AGREED THAT WITH THE DELICIOUS FOOD AND EXCELLENT SERVICE WE WOULD HAVE GIVEN THE BLUE MOOSE A TEN. BECAUSE OF THE SMOKE IT BECAME A FIVE. (TRUE, WE COULD HAVE GONE INSIDE TO EAT OR WE COULD HAVE GONE TO ANOTHER PLACE THAT DOES NOT ALLOW SMOKING. THE FACT THAT BLUE MOOSE DOES A FINE JOB WITH EVERYTHING AND WE ENJOY EATING THEIR IT MAKES GOING THERE ON A NICE AFTERNOON OR BEAUTIFUL EVENING SOMETHING WE WILL NEED TO CONSIDER IN THE FUTURE.
BLUE MOOSE COULD BECOME A LEADER (KANSAS LAW OR NOT) AND NOT ALLOW SMOKING ON THE PATIO OR THEY COULD MAKE 1/2 SMOKING AND 1/2 NO SMOKING. FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!
My hubby and I ate on the patio for our anniversary dinner. The food and service was great!
This is a regular spot for the family and as long as they serve the mac & cheese my kids will continue to go. It seems to be a first-time spot for servers who have a bit of a learning curve but still enjoy the place.
It was a night out with a neighbor and had good food and good conversation
They messed up our omelet orders, but we made it work. Wide variety of brunch buffet items! Big round booth not very good for buffet eaters- in and out, moving constantly. We will ask for a table next time. Waiter seemed fairly new and was frustrated when the omelets didn't come quite as ordered, but we told him it was ok, we'd deal with it.
Our waiter Daniel was superb! I would come back for such terrific service.
The 4 of us that attended ended up sick that evening and/or overnight. Food mediocre compared to other breakfast buffets. No omelet stations seen and prime rib was overcooked. Very noisy atmosphere. Hostess seemed "put out" when we asked for another table. Normal buffet is $14.99 on weekends; hiked to $23.99 for Father's Day? Lastly, I thank our waiter for the senior citizen discount for 65+ over.....I'm only 59 for a couple more months. Someone else may not have the sense of humor I did for the one part of the dining experience...
Our service was extremely slow, we were there for an hour and a half, and our waitress barely checked on our table. We did not get to order food until we had been there over 30 minutes. Additionally, my cheesy corn side was dry, cold, and still had copious amounts of corn silk in it, so that I had to pick around inedible clumps. Overall not a great experience.
Waited a long time to have order taken, salad came late then 2 minutes later the meal was delivered.
Bill was incorrect. Had to have adjusted as salads were double what they should have been.
Menu board at front door mentioned meat loaf special for 9.99. Was charged 12.99 as I was told the special was for lunch only even though this wasn’t mentioned on sign.
Great local spot that never disappoints! They have options for everyone and they have an amazing Tuesday night wine special:)
we get together for sunday brunch a few times a year and this is convenient, good food and a good place for conversation.
Waiter not trained, uninformed on menu offerings, food came over a half hour after ordering, some orders not prepared correctly including drinks
Server was very patient while we conducted our meeting. We ate and drank afterwards. Thank you. It was much appreciated.
This restaurant should definitely be on your ‘pass’ list with so many great restaurants in the Kansas City area. Good service, but food was very mediocre.
We were given a separate dining area, which was great since we had a 6 month old with us. My guest really enjoyed their choice, Taco Salad. A good choice as it was recommended.
Not crowded. Seems tired. Boring. Food just ok. Missing huge opportunity in PV neighborhood to offer exceptional food.
The food was great and the happy hour specials were wonderful. nice environment overall but the customer service was poor. when we walked in for our reservation we were not greeted by the three young ladies at the hostess stand, they all just stood there talking. When I mentioned we were here for a reservation I asked if we could sit outside on the patio she said there was no room and didn’t even make a suggestion to sit near the large open window. After sitting down and taking our drink and food order, the server did not come by and ask how everything was until we were finished. she appeared to be very busy and overwhelmed.
Typically a huge fan of Blue Moose and the brunch. This day we had a reservation. When we arrived, we asked to be seated in a certain area of the restaurant that had many tables open. The hostess told us that area was reserved for patrons with reservations. I replied that I had a reservation and she said no other reservations. Don't know what that means. Throughout oiur visit, those tables were never occupied. The service was not at all what we had come to expect from Blue Moose. Not rude or unaccommodating but we had to flag her every time drinks needed to be refilled or plates removed from the table, etc. We will visit again for sure, just surprised and disappointed--not what we have come to expect from this great establishment.
good brunch, lots of options, good service and atmosphere. Not too crowded that day, which was nice for our group.
I rated the service only good, but it wasn't a fault of the waitstaff. The kitchen was running slow so it was a 20-30 minute wait to be served. Fortunately, we weren't in a hurry. We enjoy this restaurant for its casual atmosphere and menu variety, although I almost always choose the 5 oz filet with succotash squash and whipped cauliflower. One of the best low-cal dinners around.
Food quality not what it used to be since they have opened other restaurants. Very disappointed in a panini that had stems from pesto in it and turkey was cold meaning it was not out in panini press.
We did Sunday brunch -good brunch-senior price I believe was $12.99. Good service and do not let the blind grumpy hostess spoil your outing. She definitely needs a hostess refresher course. Timing is important-before 11:00 is good. Enjoy !!
Love making reservations at Blue Moose because they always have us set up at the best table in the restaurant right by the big fire place.
Food was good except crab cakes. They were brought at same time our entrée were. Very odd and clumsy. Crab didn't taste fresh. Took long time t get desert and longer time to get check.
Food was good for a bar and grill. Service was excellent and our server exceptional! I ordered the Wedge Salad with grilled salmon (cooked perfectly but a bit on the salty side), and was a good portion. The pork belly was delicious but the portion was smaller than usual, and others in our group ordered fish and chips, chicken picata, caesar with salmon and the spinach and artichoke dip. Would recommend all!
Somewhat over priced for what you get, but service was good and food was okay. The Mac and cheese was very good, the fish tacos were just okay.
Service was great, manager came over to check on us and chat for a minute—very friendly and accommodating!
We enjoyed a very tasty brunch. The prepared to order eggs Benedict and omelettes we're delicious. We liked that they were brought to the table rather than having to go check on them. The server was attentive and kept our drinks filled and removed dishes quickly. A few notables: smoked salmon, pasta, and dessert.
Good place to eat; neighborhood gem; check it out.
Great value for a brunch buffet that had a wide variety of items that were delicious. Our service was a little slow. Half of our table ordered from the menu and did not do the brunch buffet. They all said their food was excellent, but one person didn't get their meal until everyone else was done.
We enjoy dining out as a family. Conversations are a big part of that and the restaurant was not too loud that this was not possible. Great atmosphere, we will return.
Great food! The best chicken tenders we’ve ever had! Also highly recommend the artichoke bisque, the blackened mahi tacos & pork chop!
We choose a new place each year for Restaurant Week. Their location photos pulled me in and a neighborhood bar sounded fun. How can you go wrong with a place that has a blue moose head over the fireplace, right? The online menu was quirky for us, but we thought for restaurant week they may have something a bit more standard. We called to say we were running about 5 minutes late and they did not have any idea we had a reservation. I dropped off my friend while I parked. When I went inside , I said the other person was already seated and they told me he was in the sun room, with no offer to take me there. I had to ask where that was and she took me to the door of the room, letting me find the right table. We did not get restaurant week menus and had to ask for them. They brought us one to share. I know they had more because a table of six asked for one and they also got one to share. The choices were as quirky as their online menu. Our opinion was that the goal had been to crowd as many flavors as possible into each course, and it was too much in almost every instance. I love herbs and unique food combinations. I'm not a big fan of beans or sausage in pasta , but it was the best of the choices. Mashed cauliflower, broccoli, and rice sounded good as a side for the sea bass, but in this case there was almost no flavor. On the plus side, they served Harney and Sons hot teas and the double brownie was very good. They were not all that busy on a week night but our food came slower than we would have thought. Our server did a good job keeping beverages topped and we did get to sit in front of their large, toasty fireplace. I wanted to like this restaurant since we don't go out often to a nicer place, but when I compare what we've had for the standard $33 at other restaurant week locations, this was not the value nor the experience we hoped for.
A friend and I meet at Blue Moose for dinner every couple of months. I really like the hummus plate. We were seated in the porch area by the fireplace. It was very warm and cozy.
Turns out a friend and her family were there celebrating a birthday. Fun time.
A leisurely refuge on a cold winter day. Fireside table with sunshine coming in the window. Attentive service. Many menu choices. A pleasant experience.
Great brunch buffet for $15. Lots of options if you want to be healthy or if you want a traditional breakfast.
