The service was fantastic and the food was as good as usual. The bar got a little behind but that worked itself out. Really like the online reservation service. Highly recommend this location!!

We enjoyed our evening.....food was good....atmosphere was nice and condusive for visiting with family. There were good gluten free choices and good children’s menu in addition to regular choices. We enjoy Blue Moose and the Hopps points.

It was good! I ordered medium-rare steak and got rare, but I was pretty full toward the end so it was fine. The menu didn't have a lot of options for healthier foods that weren't salads (3 choices that were under 600 calories) but I was still able to find something satisfying. They also had wonderful appetizers and small plates!

We visited the Blue Moose for the first time for a Father's Day dinner with reservations at 6:30, a normal dinner time. The food was overall good. The service was wonderful. The wine tasted wonderful. The pasta and wings were cooked nicely. However, my husband, the man of the hour, ordered his steak medium-well and it came out well-done. Although the steak was unfortunately overcooked, it came out with good flavor. There were no dessert choices left at this time which was very disappointing considering we came for a special occasion and the dessert course is my husband's favorite course.
Despite the short comings, we will definitely consider coming back as 3 out of the 4 dishes we good and the service was wonderful!

I must say we were VERY disappointed in the Father's Day Brunch. What food was left was cold and unappetizing, some even unfit for consumption. They were out of the Prime Rib, however they did bring some out later. For $118.00 the food was of poor quality. We have enjoyed the Mother's Day Brunch in the past and it was awesome. Will not attend another 'special day' brunch there again. We dine at the Blue Moose often and have always been pleased. Not this time.

Went for Father's Day Brunch, was very disappointed. We were there between 1-3. Most of the food containers were empty or almost empty, lots of labels for items but not items to choose from. Their Prime rib was very tender BUT SO OVER COOKED. No med rare or rare just WELL DONE ! UGH Felt it was a bit overpriced for what they actually offered. And they charged for a cup of coffee...geesh Trying to decide if I want to go back and try some items off their menu.

We went for Father’s Day brunch. When we arrived, most buffet trays were empty (there was still 2 hours left for the buffet, so it was not close to being over) and stayed empty most of the time. After waiting about 1/2 hour, some of the dishes slowly started being replenished, but we had already filled up on stuff we didn’t necessarily want. Also, desserts were never replenished. They did have a few dishes served from the kitchen that people could order. The food we did have was good and our server was great. But, waiting for a buffet to have food was annoying and made the selection too limited for the price.

Fathers Day Buffet. The food was good but there was very little available every time I went up for more food! Seemed the kitchen couldn’t keep up with the demand. We enjoyed how quite it was but our server forgot about us SEVERAL times. My father in law had to go to the bar to get a second beer and my mother in law walked around to find our server who was not able to be found. Our drinks were always empty and the one meal that came from the menu was wrong when it was sent. This was my first experience with The Blue Moose and I was very much so looking forward to it because of all the good things I had heard! but unfortunately left disappointed and still hungry.

We tried the Sunday brunch for Father's Day for the first time. Everything was so delicious!! There were so many choices of foods to choose from. One small disappointment was they were so behind on making coffee, it took 20 minutes for my Husband to get a refill and then I was told there was no more decaf coffee. The waitress offered me an ice tea, which I gladly accepted. Our waitress was apologetic for that. She was very nice and on top of the service for us!

The food was the problem. I order Carne Asado Tacos, I think that is correct. There was hardly any steak on two small tacos . There were 4 tacos, but there was not enough filling for more than two. Even that was skimpy.

Pico de gallo was served tasting mainly of vinegar. Instead of a chunky salsa it was a runny, pureed green substance.

Altogether a disappointing evening.

We had eaten there 2 weeks earlier and the buffet was great. We ate there for Mothers Day and the food was average. Plus the waitress failed to tell us the buffet was $24 on Mothers Day instead of the $14 dollars the previous time we were there.

This was my first time at Blue Moose, but will definitely be back. The service, atmosphere, and food were all good. It is a little pricey, but good for a special occasion. The outdoor seating area is kind of small, but still nice.

My mother and I had a 645p reservation. Waitress was pleasant and Mom ordered her recommendation of the Chipotle Short Ribs, I ordered the Chicken Nachos. Waited for at least 30 minutes and the food came out cold. We did let the waitress know and she did offer to heat it up but we could not wait and certainly didn't want anything ruined in the microwave. Even if the Nachos were hot, I would not recommend them. Just a pile of chips with stuff thrown on top. Would have prefered grilled chicken but received ice cream scooped shredded chicken plopped on top. Mom loved the mashed potatoes that accompanied the short ribs.

We’ve given Blue Moose in Lawrence several chances because we really wanted it to be successful. I’ll say we’ve been 4 to 5 times and have been littered with terrible service and sub par food. Our experience last night was the final try and we won’t be back. The worst food, (in one case no food) and longest service times to date. The worst being my friend ordering the short ribs and 45 minutes later being told they didn’t have any. Then the kids waited an hour for grilled cheese sandwiches. Although, because of the horrible experience, we got out of there without paying. I’m not sure where the problem lies but nothing seems to be improving. I won’t be recommending or visiting again

I really enjoyed my Blue Moose experience. Had a kind and attentive waiter, the drinks were tasty and the food delicious. The menu is a bit pricy, so as a student I won't be a frequent diner here, but 'night out' experience is definitely worth it.

Me and my wife went on a KU basketball night the weekend after Valentine's day , so the noise level was a little loud but tolerable considering there was a KU game on . My wife ordered pasta and I ordered the Cajun steak . We both ordered cocktails , my wife had a vodka limeade , and I had the chocolate martini . They were both wonderful tasting . We got our order in short time . My steak was slightly over cooked instead of medium rare ; a warm red center it was more on the medium side which I was fine with , I found the steak to be very well seasonedand succulent and the sauce that comes with the Cajun steak to be a very good pairing . The waiter was very responsive to our needs . The only problem was with our check in which I got charged for my two sides that came with my steak , we told the waiter , and he quickly resolved the problem . We would love to come back again .

Their make-your-own mac n cheese is amazing. It's the best I've had. However, the roll they served with it was stale. And my husband got their Mardi Gras special of blackened catfish with red beans and rice, but they were out of red beans. So he got black beans instead. Seems like that's kind of an important ingredient to have for that special. The cheesecake was just okay. The chocolate flourless tort was really good.

The food was great. However, they were out of the main advertised special early on Saturday night. They were also out of some other regular menu items. We ordered the regular Creme Brulee and were surprised to find they were out. We found out when they just brought out the small. They should have brought 2 small for each regular order for the same price. I was very disappointed that a restaurant would be out of so many menu items.

Food took 45 min to be served, 3 out of our 12 entrees had to involve substitute ingredients because they were “out” of core ingredients. Two separate orders of carne asada tacos came out 20 min apart because they “ran out of carne asada”. Chicken piccata was bland and pasta was cold.
Won’t return nor advise anyone else to.

Timing is everything, as they say. That was certainly true for this visit.

We arrived and were seated promptly. Our server took our drink and appetizer orders and returned with the drinks shortly. She then took our meal order. I ordered the Chipotle Braised Short Ribs with a Caesar salad, my wife ordered the 7 oz. sirloin cooked medium with the squash succotash on the side. Our server asked if I wanted the salad ahead of the meal. I did and told her so.

Ten minutes later, the appetizer (buffalo wings) arrived. They were hot and tasty. About five minutes after the wings arrived, my salad also arrived. I thought it was a bit soon but it was not really a problem... I just set it aside.

But then two minutes later our meals arrived. We had only eaten a couple wings and had not yet even touched the salad.

Our server stopped by the table a few minutes after the food arrived to see how things looked. We mentioned to her that the food had gotten there way too fast. She apologized but that is as far as it went... that feedback clearly did not make it to the manager.

My wife's steak was hot and she decided to skip the appetizer and eat it before it got cold. My ribs were very warm (not hot) and I decided that I could not really let them sit until after the wings so I ate my entree and the appetizer at the same time.

About 15 minutes after the food arrived our server stopped by the table and dropped off the check! At this point our entrees were only half-eaten, we still had a couple wings left, and the salad was untouched!

And to cap off the evening, when we finally got to the salad we realized that it had enough dressing for two or three salads.

We visit this restaurant frequently and have always been pleased with the food and service. On past visits a manager has always stopped by the table and inquired about the food and service. We stayed at the table 10-15 minutes after we finished the meal and then paid our check and left without seeing a manager.
