Blue Moon Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I had a lovely dinner at the Blue Moon for Valentine's Day. The space is elegant and charming, the food was delicious, and our server was attentive but not intrusive. The special for Valentine's Day was a shared chateaubriand which was tender and cooked perfectly. The kale salad was fresh and had a wonderful combination of cheese, nuts and a light tangy dressing. The drinks were superb with a special spicy martini - perfect amount of zip. It was a memorable experience!
First off, it was the best dining experience we have had since coming to Rehoboth for the past 13 years. My husband and i have made it our mission to try all the restaurants in the Rehoboth/Lewes area. We decided to try Blue Moon to celebrate Valentines and our upcoming 40th anniversary. What a beautiful evening we had. Anna was our server and she was perfect. She gave us plenty of time between drinks, apps, entree and dessert. We were actually there 3 hours. The atmosphere (beautiful displays of red roses everywhere) was very romantic. From our refreshing drinks (Burning love martini and a Dark n Stormy n dangerous), the delicious complimentary stuffed date, the to die for crispy octopus, the great rack of lamb cooked perfectly and ever so tender braised short ribs, we were in heaven. We couldn’t resist ending the night with their famous Blue Moon Bomb—oh my god! It was enormous—4 layers of different ice cream coated with whipped cream n caramel n chocolate—unbelievably good. We also had delicious coffee drinks too. Needless to say, we were stuffed and loved that we chose Blue Moon to celebrate our love for each other! Thanks Anna and thanks to the chef!
It was New Years Day and we decided to go to the Blue Moon (ok we made reservations a few weeks before) and it was very delicious, relaxing and we had a fabulous brunch. We started off with the warm beignets with caramel sauce followed by the steak and the French toast. My husband said that the steak was one of the best that he had in very long time and the French Toast was also very delicious. Jackie our server was totally outstanding and she thinks of things to do for you before you can even ask. The Blue Moon is now closed until early February and we are really going to miss them. We are already counting the days until they open again.
The meal was delicious and our server, Ana, was fantastic. The rest of our experience left much to be desired – particularly for our first New Year’s Eve since moving to Sussex County.
We arrived for our 10:00 pm reservation on time and were informed that there was a 15-20 minute wait. We went to the bar area and had a drink while we waited by a drafty door. After 20 minutes we were ushered to our table. I’m sure this is a perfect location during warmer months, but it’s a bad idea to seat customers on an enclosed porch in December. We froze! Once the main dining room cleared out, we asked to move and were promptly accommodated. Rather than make excuses that it’s an old house and the city doesn’t allow modifications, it would be smart not to seat customers on the porch when it’s below freezing. At a minimum, don’t seat customers by the windows (that were visibly frosted).
I’m surprised that the restaurant was struggling to keep their reservations on time. If they were a start up establishment, it might make sense. But this wasn’t their first New Year’s Eve. The couple next to us had a 9:00 pm reservation and weren’t seated until 10:00 pm! They ended up leaving after the second course because it was already after 11:00 pm. We didn’t get our main course until 11:30 and opted to have our dessert “to go.” That should have been a great idea (and a perfect breakfast dessert) except they packaged the hot apple crisp in the same container as the ice cream. Needless to say, we had a melted mess when we got home. On a positive note, the fried green tomatoes were the best I ever had. Light and perfectly seasoned. I could have had two of those and called it a meal!
We visited the Blue Moon because of its reputation and the minimal “fine dining” options in the area. Next year, however, we may go for a casual New Year’s celebration. This wasn’t the standard we were used to or expected.
The BLUE MOON provides consistent excellence- lovely menu prepared superbly, with attention to special dietary needs, presentations are gorgeous and delicious! The service is professional yet friendly.
We love the ambiance and local vibe!
The restaurant is enjoyable for a date night or special occasion.
For New Years Eve they offered prix fix menu and we received a gift of 2 lovely champagne flutes 🥂
This is my second time going to Blue Moon and it's ever so delightful. From the time you arrived the staff is personable and friendly. My date and I went there for Christmas Eve dinner. I enjoyed my dinner which consist of Fried Green Tomatoes for starters, which were great and I chose Smoke Duck for the main course, which, too, was great. My friend started out with Squash Soup, which she loved and finished with Poach Lobster, which she didn't care too much for. Still the side dishes were wonderful. We will be back, next year.
Stopping by Rehoboth on the way back to NYC for two days that included Christmas Eve so was looking for a nice Christmas Eve dining experience. Unfortunately the two of us had developed colds on the way so we decided to forego Christmas Eve cocktails. We each ordered a starter and a main course all of which combined with the cold left us deciding to skip dessert. Everything we ordered was delicious. We both had a scallop dish for the entree that was creative and so tasty that we found ourselves eating slowly so as to prolong the enjoyment. The service was exemplary and friendly. And while the restaurant was very busy with it being Christmas Eve, my friend and I could easily have a low level conversation and still hear each other. More and more a rarity these days. The setting was lovely and we sat near a window that looked out on a misty night. If I lived in Rehoboth Beach this would be one of my regular restaurants. For the traveler looking for top notch food, service and ambience, I can't recommend Blue Moon highly enough.
Very nice local restaurant with excellent food choices. Beet salad with goat cheese appetizer was very nice, although I prefer blue cheese..next time. Roast lamb chops were awesome and the beef brisket, spatzle bolognaise was to die for. Generous portions.. Very nice..white table cloth restaurant. Super service.
Blue Moon continues to amaze us! Our entire meal from appetizers to drinks to dessert was absolutely delicious. They are so good as using fresh, simple ingredients and turning them into something extraordinary. The wine list is also exceptional. They definitely pay attention to detail! We will be back again and again!
It was Tuesday afternoon and three of us decided to go to Tasting Tuesday at the Blue Moon. Lucky for us that we were able to get in and what a wonderful evening we had. We started out in the bar for cocktails which Zack made and they were all very delicious. After that we went into the dining room and enjoy a the most delicious soup, fried green tomatoes and then we topped that off with the rockfish and the pork chop which was an added special to the Tasting Tuesday menu. The wait staff sees to you even before you have to ask for anything Jackie is totally outstanding and she really enjoys serving. If you have not tried the Blue Moon or their Tasting Tuesday you missing the best that Rehoboth Beach has to offer. If you want to try the Tasting Tuesday menu you had better hurry since they will be closing on New Year's Day until just before Valentine's Day.
We had the pear and apple salad and fried green tomatoes to start...for our main course we shared the special which was a 2lb Berkshire pork chop with a whole grain mustard sauce, roasted veggies and mashed potatoes. We managed to save room for dessert....the key lime meringue pie...each dish had the right balance of flavors and sauces...everything was cooked and prepared to perfection and our waiter was great!! We have eaten at a lot of restaurants in Rehoboth and have loved many but this was the best meal by far :)
