Seafood-centric restaurant with sweeping views of the Fazio Foothills Golf Course and Austin’s Hill Country. Features a daily selection of freshly shucked oysters, fish and shellfish incorporating local “garden to table” items when available. Great non seafood selections include tender steaks, braised and grilled dishes. Pre-dinner, enjoy creative hand-crafted cocktails at the bar and on the outdoor patio.
Great time n Valentines excellent service!
Hi, Thank you for your five-star review! Cheers, Tobias Cox Director of Food & Beverage
Several technical errors with the food, but the service was spot on. FOH staff did a great job with service and the production of a memorable valentines day meal. Great ambience and the resort was beautiful. Definitely will return to see more of the venue.
Great place but a bit too pricey. Service was very good!
This was our first visit to the Blind Salamander and it was a great experience. This restaurant is located at a beautiful resort in the hill country near Austin, but only a 25 minute drive from downtown. The restaurant staff was exceptionally welcoming and friendly. Our server Barry could not have been nicer. He was very attentive and made sure our experience was outstanding. We didn't expect to get 5-star seafood in Austin, but they delivered. The swordfish was thick and juicy; among the best I've ever tasted, as was the Yellowfin Tuna line-caught in Hawaii and somehow shipped to Texas at peak freshness. It was a memorable experience and we hope to return there soon.
Early Valentine’s Dinner. Great good and service again!!
Our experience was very positive except the noise level. The noise level at our original table was so loud, we could not have a conversation. Our waiter was gracious enough to move us to the quieter booth area of the restaurant.
If he hadn't moved us we probably would have left the restaurant and would have never returned.
The service is AWESOME! We went there first time and everyone was impressed by their service. The food is great! They even hand wrote a birthday card from the servers. Highly recommend this place!
Menu not that creative, sides that came with fish were too heavy
Our dinner was average. Our waiter was great and we liked the atmosphere, but the food was served room temperature if we’re being generous. We might try it again if we return to the hotel, but it was nothing special.
Excellent food and cocktails. Not loud as others have commented. Tuna prepared perfectly. Would return.
Too bright and loud. Need to work on the atmosphere.
The food was unique with flavors that tempt me to return. Excellent service. A stroll after dinner with a view of the hill country made a memorable evening.
Dem oysters doe!
Wonderful evening, service was fantastic. Highly recommend the Rhode Island Oysters on the half shell and salmon!
Service friendly, but very slow. Mains took almost an hour from ordering. Food good, but not great
Christmas Eve - great service despite a full restaurant. Beautiful ambience.
Outstanding is all that needs to be said!
Excellent food and service.
There were a few large parties and families with small children. The staff was very friendly and professional. The service was very good , the food was delicious! Lovely venue. The drink menu is very creative and the cocktails were yummy. The menu is varied with something for everyone. Fish to burgers and fries! Go for a cocktail first at the tiny but intimate bar area.
The food was disappointing. I had the sea bass (which was rubbery) and my wife had the pasta (that was bland). The restaurant is in a prime location and is beautifully decorated, but unfortunately I can’t recommend the food.
Excellent server, attentive staff, main dish of halibut with veggies and sauce divine (thank you, chefs!). Bartender crafted a perfect spiced Old Fashioned which was delightful. Luxardo cherries are used, thank you for your attention to that detail. My only suggestion is do away with the packaged rolls (Hawaiian brand) and enhance that part of the experience. The two rolls I received were still stuck together and tough on the bottom. Other than that small, insignificant misstep, I commend the entire crew for a memorable meal.
They sat our four top between 2 six tops. We couldn’t hear each other, much less have a conversation! I should have asked to be moved. They need help with the acoustics big time
We booked for our anniversary and was looking forward to a nice meal and quiet conversation but that wasn't to be. The noise level was very uncomfortable for enjoying the evening. We downed our cocktails and ate our meal very quickly so that we could leave the restaurant.
We had been there on opening night and thoroughly enjoyed it but clearly if there is more than a few couples in the restaurant, it becomes very very noisy.
So disappointed. The only thing that saved the evening was a trip to the Crenshaw bar within the Omni Hotel where the ambiance was very nice and the staff were fantastic.
Our dinning experience was fine. For a relatively small number of customers, the service was a bit slow. The food quality was good except that the salmon was a bit dry. I noted that to one of the staff and she brought a small container of season liquid that solved the problem. It provided the needed moisture and a seasoning that enhanced the flavor of the salmon.
yes but the noise level will intimidate and irritate some.
We were in Austin on a weekend get away. Never eaten here before. Stayed at Omni Barton Creek wanted to dine at hotel. Excellent, fresh seafood choices, pleasant and professional server, table with a view and an exceptional dining experience. We ordered freely and felt that the prices were excellent. High value, exceptional quality. I ordered the blackened redfish and my wife had the Halibut special. She said it might be the best Halibut she has ever had. The seasoning on my redfish was outstanding. Highly recommend.
The halibut was outstanding! Thank you for a great evening.
I thought for such a new restaurant it was really a great meal and good experience
The noise level is unbearable. My wife literally left with a headache. The staff is aware of the issue but doesn't seem to have a resolution in sight. This is a deal breaker for me until resolved.
Food is good, but not outstanding considering the resort pricing. Menu is limited, but I hope it’s expanded down the road, once they have been open longer. Decor and ambiance is more cafe like than fine dining. There are tables and chairs on the perimeter of the space and booths in the middle. Noise level high, as every surface is hard. Why do restaurant designers do this? I would probably return to give it another chance in the future.
Fantastic from top to bottom. Atmosphere, food, service, and recommendation were spot on. I don't even like scallops but I'd go back and order that dish until I was sick of the word scallop...then I'd order another.
Slow and untimely service
This my opinion, we have traveled the world many times over, and seeing what we have experienced at the Blind Salamander is truly amazing service here in Austin Texas,it makes you feel like you are across the pond.and regarding the noise level, we all have to understand that it is a new business and I'm sure they are making the necessary changes to make it comfortable for everyone, I would truly suggest to try it,the food in amazing!
Great food and great service. Restaurant is loud.
Service and food were great however the noise level in the restaurant was extreme. It is very difficult to carry on a conversation with others at the table. The acoustics in the restaurant really need to be addressed.
The food was absolutely nothing exceptional, one of our wait staff spoke absolutely zero English (and no one in our party spoke her language) and the noise level was STUNNINGLY LOUD! Not impressed.
Good afternoon, Thank you for dining with us on Saturday. I would first like to apologize for the underwhelming experience you had with us. I will certainly share this with our culinary team as well as work with our international interns to ensure they are communicating clearly. Thank you for sharing your feedback and we hope you give us another opportunity to wow you. Kind regards, Alicia B. | Restaurant Manager
Food was amazing!! A.J. was awesome and took great care of us! So glad to have a really great seafood restaurant in the Westlake area! We will be back often!!
Good food and service. Lindsey was great. Thank you!
Too loud for such a nice restaurant
It was as loud as a school cafeteria
The food experience is really 'uptown,' on a high level. The hamburger is actually with every penny of the $18. It's may be as good as we've had in Austin, anywhere. The sushi grade tuna actually was first rate. And all the portions are hearty. Service with a smile and constant presence, presentation of food as tasty as the items. Some might feel it's a tad pricey. I'll pay an extra couple bucks for satisfaction like this.
I'm a member at Barton Creek CC. Blind Sal was very good. They just opened so give them some time to perfect.
