THIS is it!!! You have to do this. Yes, a little different (allot different actually)!
WHO-go with fun, and talkative people...in the dark everyone just by nature gets quiet.
WHAT-unusual experience of eating and appreciating all of your senses
WHEN-kind of the beauty of it...go whenever it’s convenient and wear what is comfortable-white may not be the best idea (DUH!)
WHERE-Vegas baby..this concept doesn’t work unless you have an open mind and are most likely on vaca
WHY-awesome service...Z was our server (yes, just a letter-easy to remember)-funny, sarcastic (which we love) and took great care of us! Food-really great food!!!
Zzzzzzzzzzz super hard to spell, hard to say (NOT) guy is so good he only needs one letter! Boom!
Basically-if you are looking for an “experience”...worth the money!!!
Thank you ;)
Our waiter Z was really awesome and made us feel at ease since we couldn't see anything. All of the meals were wonderful and he gave us helpful tips to enjoy the meal.
this was a truly unique experince . very fun, easier to do than expected worth going at least once
probably will go back some time.
NO SPOILERS! Read THIS review first. - Suuuuch a fun time and great dining experience! Here are my TOP 10 observations and everything you 'need' to know before going:
1. It's 7-courses (dinner service), but they don't tell you what you are going to be served (though they do take into account any food allergies) and don't ask. The unknown is a big part of the dining experience.
2. The food is very good and you will be full. I'm a big eater and there are hearty courses that will satisfy you.
3. There is a high likelihood you will try some familiar dishes and ingredients in ways you've never experienced before... in a very good way.
4. You will most likely be pretty uncomfortable for the first 15-minutes because, even if you think you're ready, being blind is tough. Hang in there, you will get comfortable. The full meal will take 1 to 1-1/2 hours. If you need to go to the bathroom (or start freaking out), raise your hand and someone will lead you out for a break.
5. It is so much fun trying to figure out what you are eating! You will learn you are not as good as you think.
6. After dinner you will see the full menu.
7. Before dining you are required to place your phone and anything else that emits light (watch) in a private locker.
8. Your server, wearing night-vision goggles, will carefully march you to your table, conga-line style.
9. Our server, William (Willy) was fantastic. Very helpful in putting us at ease and also very personable and a lot of fun. Just think about how much you actually have to trust your server when you are blind.
10. Be careful reading other reviews because you will risk spoiling some of the surprises. All you need to know is what I've written above.
Check out their website for more information. Trust the high number of stars Blackout gets and try to resist reading more reviews at the risk of spoiling some of the surprises for yourself.
Very unique! Really wonderful. Food was great!
It was a great experience we would recommend to everyone. Our waiter Anthony was absolutely amazing.
INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE, MUST DO AT LEAST ONCE!
Fabulous vegan food. Great service. Fun meal. Music was perfect. Only complaint is that I thought I’d see what I ate at the end. Instead we were just shown the “menu”. I wanted to SEE the dishes I had so much fun eating. You eat with your eyes as well as your mouth! Just show us a tray with all the courses on it. I would return if I ever come back to town.
Liam was great. He kept us engaged and had a great since of humor. He made me and my wife feel absolutely wonderful on our 7th wedding anniversary. I would recommend this experience to anyone who want to be adventurous in fine dining and with making for a special date. Loved it
Wussy an amazing experience for the senses... or lack thereof?! Thre food tasted amazing and the service was wonderful.
An amazing evening. I must admit I was hesitant but SOO happy we went. The concept is quite genius. Listen, you can go have a basic good dinner anywhere, but getting to use your senses, share time in an adventurous way, and try new foods..... awesome!
In addition to learn that the meal was plant based was amazing!!! Kudos to the chef..... the food was delicious and innovative. We did the wine pairing and weren't disappointed.
Our waiter was Zee and he was fantastic. He was truly ninja-like in his movements. All of sudden we would hear his voice and find a new course was in front of us with a new glass of wine.... and we never heard nor saw him!!
Overall, great experience. We will be returning.
Collin was our host and super entertaining! It's not something I would do every month, but if you've never experienced dining in the dark before, it's worth the price with a group of friends. The food had a few really great courses, but a few courses were pretty standard. If you said $100 for the food alone, it would not be worth it. But add the fact no one is allowed to bring a phone in, meaning your friends are 100% present, the great staff, and the fact you get to eat with no one judging you (use your hands, eat stuff you found on your table since you made mess trying to find your mouth, lick you plate lol), it's fun. Whenever a friend visits out of town, I'll definitely suggest this as a thing to do. A lot of fun in a big group!
I really can't rate the ambiance because I didn't see a thing! Service and food was great. It did get a bit noisy as people tend to talk louder when they can't see.
Got the best waiter ever(!!!) - Willy. He made this experience UNFORGETTABLE . A must visit place in Vegas!!!!
This was our first time doing a blackout dining experience and it exceeded our expectations by far! Cory did a great job explaining the experience and guiding us of where things were. The food was outstanding and it was so much fun trying to guess what we were eating throughout the lunch. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Will definitely go back next time in Vegas!
The best date I’ve been on in my life! The experience was unmatched! I couldn’t stop smiling...in the dark haha
Really fun and unique experience. Our server Cory, hope I’m spelling correct, was great. Loved that we had a great vegan dinner. The only thing was that the entree was a little bit salty, otherwise everything was Aces.
Very nice place, I have been there when they first opened. Little things has been changed but overall I love going there once in a while. We will totally recommend!!
The experience and food were both incredible! I think that everyone should experience dining in the dark at least once. We definitely look forward to going back with friends
Overall it was a great experience! Only complaints... And our server even mentioned it but for some reason it seemed like EVERYONE talked really loud in the place for no reason. It was one of the louder dining experiences I've had in a setting that had no background noise needed to be spoken over. The experience was great! Food was great! I won't lie... I wasn't expecting to be out $300+ for the 2 of us to dine but it is what it is... I think we underestimated the price of the drinks there forgetting it still is a Vegas Touristy deal so expect to pay even as locals. Whatever though, still was a blast and I'd definitely suggest it to others. Cause of the cost it may be a one time only deal for me cause that's pushing my dining budget quite a bit and makes me think of other places that may offer less of an experience but a higher scale strictly culinary wise that I could go to in Vegas at a similar price range. Thanks for a great evening though!!! Cool concept and cool joint for sure! OH!!!! The option of having the server tell us what each course was while either eating it or just after finishing it would've been neat cause as foodies we were having a great time trying to guess what each course was and we did great at guessing even in the end but the discussion would've been cooler if we'd known while it was fresh on our pallet still!
You can only rate ambience as LOW since you can't see a thing. Great overall experience. Highly recommend bringing your friends to this for something completely different!
Way too noisy....could hardly have a conversation with my guest. Seems like everybody yells to compensate
for not seeing their partners. The food was OK and not hot...... The waiter was kinda corny with the blind jokes. It took 2 hours and honestly....was getting tired of the "experience".
Very unique experience -- a five-course meal in complete darkness. The server, or "dining guide," was very helpful. It was fun! The food was quite good, better than I expected. The entire experience exceeded my expectations, actually. We went for lunch; both meals are fixed-price but a bit on the costly side. Good for a group or couple.
This is a great place to have a whole new experience. I would recommend this to anyone that's open to trying something new and different.
After realizing we were going to be fine without our sight; it was really pleasant to have great conversations with my guest. 'Not so sure it would have bee as much fun with our sight being a distraction.
Awesome, one of a kind experience. You must experience it as words will not do it justice. Put it on your to do list.
Didn't know what to expect but the experience was fantastic! Lots of laughs, the food was superb and our server Anthony was excellent. It was just the 2 of us but I can imagine that to do this in a group setting would be hilarious! Definitely recommend! 5 stars for sure!
The most amazing date ive ever been on. Great for couples no distactions
Very fun! Server was great. Only issue was my wife stated that under no circumstances would she eat mushrooms and told the front desk, asked for a substitute meal if anything had mushrooms or alcohol (pregnant). Main course did have mushrooms and it made her sick afterwards (not an allergy, but always a physical reaction when accidentally consumed). That was the only exception asked for and we don't think it was unreasonable, she would have been fine with an additional appetizer course or dessert.
Such a unique experience our server Christopher was amazing, well informed and entertaining. Would definitely do it again
Eating in the dark is quite an experience. I was excited to try something new but my.husband was a little unsure. In the end it was great. The food was very good and sever, Rico, was awesome. This was our first time eating and walking in the dark so he explained everything. I can't judge ambiance because it was dark. It's a little pricey but worth it for the experience.
Very fun, unique experience. We weren’t expecting much regarding the food, but were pleasantly surprised that it was so good! Our server, Anna, was great!
Corey was fantastic! Experience was adventurous and limit pushing.
I’m amazed at how fun that was!!! When you can’t see each other everyone gets really silly and we were all laughing the whole time. I’m surprised that we all liked all the courses too, I expected it to be hit or miss, but it was all great! You don’t have to pace yourself through the seven courses. The portions and pacing are appropriate so you can enjoy each one
Only issue was that there’s a security camera with a green light so I couldn’t stop staring at that one green light the whole time. It was only from my chair that it was visable
Thanks Collin for making our dining experience memorable. I definitely caught my family off guard with this reservation and it was so much fun to listen to them carry on about how crazy it was to dine in the dark!
Great fun 7 courses is more then enough. Small portions are right amount.
Honestly too expensive $230 for two people sitting in the dark.
Sitting next to the door and silverware bins sucks.
They need to manage the acoustics better knowing other senses are heightened. Carts rolling on the tile floor clicking clack never stops. Rummaging in silverware never stops.
When they lead larger groups thought the dark. Watch your head an toes. Guest drifting out of line will step on your toes and hit you in the face. It happened to us.
Over all ok night.
Christopher our attendant was engaging and descriptive. Being in a pitch black room with strangers should be frightening but the staff kept the conversations light-hearted and entertaining and were attentive.
The next day I went to dinner with the same person the experience was completely different and they were on their phone most of the dinner. With Blackout dining you have to use your other senses.
Smell (nearly all of the meals - smell drew you in)
Touch( plates- shape the texture) The food had different textures. I completely enjoyed the experience and can't wait to do it again.
Had a great time coming into Blackout not knowing anything about it. Our waiter Collin, who was reasonably new, did a FANTASTIC JOB. He was on point delivering our food and giving us subtle hints as to what we were eating. When they say it is DARK in there, they MEAN it is DARK..... Cool experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a great time! We'd heard a lot about the place in reviews and everyone seemed to love it. I have a wide palate as does my father in law, however my wife and her friend don't and they loved only a couple of things on the menu. My father in law and I loved each serving. We tried hard to guess some of the items and weren't very successful. My only concern was that although our server was friendly and did his job, his enthusiasm wasn't there at all. And we only noticed when we were able to hear the other servers having the time of their life with their tables. To note, we were 45 mins late because our Lyft driver took us on a ridiculous route and got us lost. The person who answered the phone was polite and very considerate and patient which I was grateful for. Maybe the server was upset at our tardiness but for a first time experience, his enthusiasm was seriously lacking. Other than that, he was professional and still guided us through the experience.
We went on NYE. Had no idea what to expect. Needless to say it was a blast. Our waiter, Willie, explained what was going to happen etc. I don’t want to give to much away but you should definitely try it. At first it was kind of noisy because of a large boisterous party but after they left it got a lot quieter.
