About this restaurant

  • Lively
  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for groups
Blacklock is a modern version of the Great British chophouse. Set in an old brothel, we take the best meat in the country from the award winning farmer and butcher Philip Warren in Cornwall. We cook chops simply over our real charcoal grill with a little help from vintage Blacklock irons and serve it all up alongside cocktails that give back and wine on tap in our atmospheric subterranean chop mecca. On Sundays we serve a Sunday Roast almost as good as Mum's. Bookings and Walk-Ins available.

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Blacklock Soho is a must-visit for steak and Sunday roast enthusiasts. Known for "amazing service" and "delicious food," the restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere where "staff are amazing" and attentive. Try the "unbelievably tender" meats and "to die for" cheesecake. It's a "great experience" with excellent value for money.

Usually an excellent experience but this time was nowhere near as good. The beef and lamb were both totally overcooked and completely well done (you could barely taste the difference between them) and the pork was full of fat. The waitress brought a few tiny slices of extra beef but when we saw the paltry offering, it was not worth bothering to mention the lamb and pork. On the plus side, the starters, all the veg and the white chocolate cheesecake were all great and just as good as ever. What was meant to be the star of the show - the ‘all in’ meat platter - was a total disappointment.

Very good Sunday roasts. Nothing special but all done to a very high and consistent standard. Food came very quickly, all of it seemed pretty fresh and came out hot. Love the bottomless gravy refills. We spent just under £100 on there for two which of course is a lot more expensive than you’ll pay for most roasts in the UK. I would come just for the white chocolate cheesecake, though.

Hi James, thanks for leaving us this 5 star review. We do try to maintain good value for our guests and at £27 per person the 'all-in' roast is still quite competitive but of course with drinks etc things can add up. We're happy you enjoyed your experience and hope you'll visit us again soon. All the best

Sunday lunch. Chose all in roast option for £27 per person followed by White Chocolate Cheese Cake (£8) for pudding. Excellent roast, with actual crispy roast potatoes which is unique when eating out. Gravy is rich and pulls all the elements together. Plenty of food for two people. Cheesecake was generously portioned out into a bowl which we shared. Worth a return visit just for that pudding alone. Service, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Wine on the pricey side, but its a restaurant so to be expected.

Thanks for leaving us this glowing review of our roast Darren and our iconic cheesecake of course. There's plenty more of all that waiting here for you when you need it. All the best

Thank you Jason. We love our roast too. Our steaks and chops we do every other day of the week are pretty good also even if we do say so ourselves. See you again soon. All the best

This was my 2nd visit to a Blacklock. We shared a 1kg porterhouse steak between 3. It was amazing !!! Our waiter Nickolas was a great host. We really enjoyed our visit and will be back.

Good service and ambience. However, unfortunately, food and specifically meat quality was way below expectations.
