About
Reservations are welcome for dinner anytime, and for weekday breakfast and lunch (weekend brunch is non-reservable). We also have a few stools at our friendly little bar, and have a tasty little snack-driven happy hour Monday through Saturday from 2pm-5pm.
Please Note: Our cozy dining room can get quite lively during dinner, full of laughter and life, between 6:30-9:30 -
especially on weekends. If noise level is a concern for you or your companions, we recommend making an early evening reservation.
They were not open. We went and when we got there they weren't open. They let us make a reservation for a time they were not open.
I understand brunch is very good here. I will probably never know because I will likely never attempt to eat here again. I made reservations on a Wednesday using Open Table for dinner at 6 pm on a Friday night. The OT site allowed/processed/confirmed the reservation. The Blackbird website had a dinner menu and dinner hours posted. Google showed dinner hours matching the website. I showed up w 3 other people at 5:55 pm to find out Blackbird recently changed hours and is no longer serving dinner. The lack of attention to online presence/accuracy and ensuring thorough communication of business hour changes suggests Blackbird doesn't care much about attracting anyone who doesn't live in the neighborhood.
You can ignore all the stars above as the restaurant was closed when we got there. I'm not sure why OpenTable allowed us to make a reservation when the restaurant is closed. We ate across the street at Nighthawks. About 15 min after we were seated another group came by that also had "reservations" at Blackbird. Nighthawk was having a great night! I love Blackbird, but OpenTable really screwed this one up.
We showed up to the restaurant and it was closed. Frustrating that we were able to make reservations to a place that wasn’t even open.
Had a dinner reservation, got the email reminder, when we got there we discovered the place isn’t open for dinner. We weren’t the only ones standing there staring at the closed sign. How hard is it to change the settings on Open Table to not allow dinner reservations when you’re not open for dinner?
We made reservations to go here on my wife's 40th birthday. The online reservation program and the Blackbird website said the restaurant was open, but when we got there...it was closed. We had to scramble in the heat and humidity to find a new restaurant (and this was an added frustration since my wife is 25 weeks pregnant). In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a big deal. In the world of restaurant etiquette, however, the failure to sync your hours online is an amateur move. There was even a second couple who discovered this mess-up at the same time as we did, leaving us to wonder how many people arrive at a closed Blackbird on a daily basis. With plenty of restaurants in the Twin Cities, it is now quite easy to decide not to return to Blackbird.
This restaurant suspended dinner service and has not updated their availability. Please call before booking.
Made a reservation which was confirmed via email. The restaurant was closed with Open signs and lights on. Very unprofessional and frustrating
Definitely recommend the Big Bird, featured on the happy hour menu. So good!!
Weekday breakfast was lovely. Great menu to suit all palates. Service was excellent. Little pricy for breakfast but worth it.
I love this neighborhood spot. Only difficulty was that our waitress was there w/o no other wait person for inside and out. She did well (not her fault)..but it affected things that she had so much to do
The food was delicious. Our waitress was amazing. Service was fantastic. The only thing to complain about was the temperature.
I was too cold
Excellent food and drinks. Looking forward to coming back again.
I had the beef short ribs. It was about the best ever. My spouse had the burger: generous but not overwhelming & very well prepared.
I love this place. Each time I have been there the service and the flavors have been tremendous.
Cesar salad was with spinach and arugula, not romaine. Wine was $15/glass. Burger was good. Light lunch for 4, with only two getting wine was $100, which seemed pricey.
Not a great experience for happy hour. One dish (noodles) had a broken dish chip in it. The bill was incorrect for another item. A lunch there previously was excellent (service and food).
Great place! We were in Minneapolis 10 days (visiting from Idaho) and we ate there 3x, each time for breakfast. Harrison is an attentive, polite, engaging server and made our vists all the more charming. Had the Swedish pancakes and the Norske scrambler for our Scandinavian fix, both of which were wonderful! Can't wait to return.
Great place, we had the Swedish pancakes and the Norske scrambler...what’s not to like? Jaaaa.
Dining Out for Life. Apparently there has been call offs with wait staff or something. Waited 20+ minutes to have drinks delivered/had to go to the bar to check on status.
Love this place overall, been many times.
Our service staff were wonderful, kind, knowledgeable, & understanding when one of us arrived late.
My food was not good. I had the spaghetti with bread crumbs. The noodles were swimming in a bed of oil & did not taste good. The Brussels sprouts were not good either. My wine was stale.
Blackbird is relaxed and comfortable. The decor is eclectic with antlers on the wall above the bar, but not a hunting lodge feel. Seating is adequately spaced to permit conversation with those at one's table without feeling cramped. The food was good though all à la carte. We shared a crab cake and greens dish and a grilled vegetable plate. I was not overly impressed with the crab cake. It was good, but not outstanding. I loved the grilled vegetables. The romesco sauce was unique and very flavorful. Vegetables were perfectly grilled. Service was fine, but nothing extraordinary. They were friendly and brought extra plates to accommodate sharing.
Perfect spot for a conversational lunch in conversational voices. Food was simple, clean and tasty.
Our previous visit was fine. On MAR 28th we brought friends from out of town. We had reservations but were seated next to everyone else in the 2/3rd's empty cafe. I received the wrong drink. My Caesar salad was very poorly dressed and the lettuce marginal. My wife had the Arugula & Carrots. The arugula should have been thrown out previously and was inedible. The waiter was unfamiliar with the menu and the drinks. The meals our guests received appeared OK at best. The same day an employee posted on Yelp that the employees were treated poorly and that the people in charge had no idea how to run a restaurant. We will never go back. Major, major disappointment.
Interesting food, fun decor, great staff, and a well-stocked wine and beer list.
Food was delicious, brussels sprouts with tahini sauce and shrimp cocktail were wonderful. All the pasta dishes we tried were nicely flavored and we will certainly be back.
Great food, atmosphere and service. Our second time at Blackbird. We love it. Would eat there more often if we lived closer.
The cauliflower app was flavorless, and when asked if it could have more curry flavor the server brought us salt and pepper. The portions of both the burger and salmon were small for the price and just ok taste wise. The music was for more like bar music not somewhere were you spend $$$. It was an online radio station, so there is as talking or ads along with bad rock music. The server knew it was my friend’s birthday and didn’t acknowledge it when bringing the dessert. Worst experience dining in along time.
We made a reservation for 6pm for 5 people and when we got there they thought it was for 5pm, even though we made it through the Open Table App!?? Thank goodness it was not busy and we got a table. Our service was a little slow, but it appeared that they were understaffed! The food was excellent, but the portions were very small and too expensive for what you got. I got a burger and asked for the sauce to come on the side, but it came with it on the burger!
As usual, the menu selections were diverse, interesting and the food delicious. The wait staff was superb, even accommodating a fifth person (child) when baby sitter failed. One of my favorite restaurants.
The Brussels sprouts are a spiritual experience. Absolutely delicious.
Table was ready per our reservation time - even a little early which was great. Excellent service. Brussel Sprouts were really good and I don't like Brussel Sprouts. All the food was excellent.
We were seated in the front room and it was COLD. The food was excellent however. Server was average, we’ve had better experiences here but still enjoyed the meal...once we put our coats back on.
Always a great place to eat. Sometimes can be noisy but it was a quiet night and we had a great date.
I was very disappointed with the food. i ordered a smoked salmon scramble. I was cold with little evidence of salmon. The hash browns were raw potatoes. Altogether a very poor meal.
Super friendly staff and great food!
While the food was unique and tasted good, it was definitely overpriced.
This has been one of my favorite places for the past couple of years so when some friends from out of town wanted to meet for dinner, this is the first place to come to mind. I actually wound up apologizing for the choice when we left. The food was mediocre, the soup had very little flavor and our server was much too distracted by it being a slow evening that he would disappear for long periods of time. He forgot a few things that were ordered and we waited for a very long time to get the check too. I’ll be back but I have to say that this visit was the worst we’ve had there. Hoping it was an off night rather than the new standard.
This place was amazing! Great food, staff was attentive, and it was quite. We went with a party of 7 and everyone was happy with their meal and no one left hungry. If you enjoy Ena, or Corner Table, give Blackbird a try. You will not be disappointed!
The crab cakes are wonderful! I encourage all to not forget about Blackbird. It’s cozy, neighborhood, and a pleasant experience.
