Great atmosphere, service, and food. Came here for brunch before seeing a show at the Bushnell. I had the best fried chicken and Mac and cheese. Also try the strawberry mimosa.
Birthday. Food was very good, server was excellent, and the Palin Orchestra was tremendous!
Excellent service and great music. Highly recommend as a fun spot and great food that is reasonably priced.
The only disappointment was that there was a limited menu the night we went, so favorites like chicken & waffles and shrimp & grits were not available. Otherwise, all was great, as usual!
We got a gift certificate for Christmas from our kids which went along with tickets to see Jeff Dunham. Our first time at Black-Eyed Sally's and we were definitely impressed. Connie, our waitress, was wonderful. She was very pleasant and chatted with us. I had the Jambalaya and my wife had the Salmon. Both meals were delicious. We definitely plan to return in the future. Thanks for an enjoyable evening.
Great time! Amazing food! Wonderful Service!
Delicious!! Love the environment and the menu we’re fantastic! My hubby and I have always loved New Orleans and this place is a little taste of that!
We had a great New Year’s Eve at Black-Eyed Sally’s!
This was our second year in a row ringing in the New Year at BES.
Such a fun place to be! An eclectic crowd, great food, great value (at $55 pp for a 3 course meal, including music cover charge), good music.
We’ve been regulars of the restaurant for years and have used them to cater private parties.
Here are my only criticisms:
Noise level. I know, what do you expect at a restaurant/music venue on NYE? However, we were a party of 4 & were relieved when the band took a break so that we could hear each other over the music. One of our friends got a sore throat trying to be heard. We had an 8:15 dinner seating, and I believe the music started at 9(?) Maybe start the music a little later, say 9:30?
Service issues: No sooner were we served the first course, our 2nd course arrived. Again, I know it was NYE, but still... Had to rush through the 1st course so that 2nd course didn’t get cold.
Also, despite our request as soon as we were served our drinks, our server never brought us a glass for our hard cider. My friend & I happen to have a “thing” about drinking beer/hard cider out of a bottle. She should have either asked us whether we wanted a glass when she took our order, or just brought us a glass automatically.
None of the above criticisms would keep us from returning.
It was New Years eve so it was understandably a little slow, especially getting drink refills. Sally's is my go to spot for dinner and music. The atmosphere was amazing, the band was awesome, and the food was great as always. I was a little taken back when I got the bill though. It was $190, which I didn't mind, but as I was figuring out the tip, I realized they already charged me an 18% gratuity. That's fine, but why have another line below for "Tip". Last I checked, gratuity and tip were the same thing. I wonder how many people didn't check and gave a double tip. Especially on New years eve! But that's the only thing, and it's not a common practice at Sally's. All in all, you can't go wrong.
Great southern BBQ. Attentive and friendly customer service.
We always have a good time at Black eyed Sally’s. My family has a tradition of going to “A Christmas Carol” at Hartford Stage and after we go for dinner at Black eyed Sally’s; it never disappoints!
The show was AWEFUL!!!!
Food was good and service was excellent. Staff was very attentive to a member of our party who had a food allergy. Great Job!
Excellent food at this restaurant with a great selection of dinner options. A nice selection of draft beers along with bottled and mixed drinks. Parking right across the street.
A fantastic place with great staff, fantastic food and tremendous music! What more could you ask for? If you’re in the greater Hartford area this is the place that you have to go to.
Great food and service. They had just had a power surge which destroyed their ability to "blacken" anything , and messed with some other systems, but soldiered on. We were unaware, until we asked why (none of us wanted anytime "blackened" ) before leaving. For us, all was golden.
Fabulous food, friendly service, great decor. We highly recommend the gumbo and jambalaya.
Great food with fun atmosphere
Overall a good experience for our first time. The only issue was the waitress was ehh... She took 10 minutes to come to the table. When she did she took drink orders and brought those back quickly. Another break in time before she came back to take our orders. She took a while to bring out everything and I has to ask for Comp Cornbread and water which should be a no brainier. The food and atmosphere made up for the service.
This was our 2nd time eating here and we enjoyed everything there. Can't wait to return!
Excellent waitress, very helpful, friendly, made us laugh. Plenty to eat, delicious cheeseburger, my date had a Mac and cheese dish with chicken and broccoli mixed in, she loved it. The blues band we heardhad the place rockin' and cheering. We will definitely be back.
This place always is great. We arrived at 5:15 and were immediately seated. Our waitress Michele was amazing. She took our order and returned with our cornbread. Food is always great here. On the way out we made reservations for our next two visits. Go there you won’t be disappointed.
A great blues venue in the heart of Hartford. Ample (fairly inexpensive) parking all around. The food was good and the (reserved) hightop tables allow you to see the performers above the crowd. Acoustics in the room are good and the crowd noise from the other half of the restaurant doesn't distract. I'd go back.
My first time there and I loved it. Would def go back again.
Food came out quickly and it was piping hot. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. Our servers was excellent, despite the place being extremely busy with a private party that was occupying most of the tables. Will definitely go back again!
Great to find this kind of food in downtown Hartford!
Our waitress was so wonderful - helping to make decisions about the menu. It was such a neat atmosphere and food was fantastic! Great portion size for value and amazing drinks! We’ll be back!
Food was good. Mike Cleary Band was excellent. Seems appropriate that if you come and buy dinner you shouldn't have to pay a cover charge. OR, maybe it could be a reduced charge to see the band.
Had a excellent time we will definitely be back food and drinks were great!!
We had a reservation, was given the worse table in the restaurant. Drinks were watered down. Food was mediocre. It cost 12 dollars to get a table near the stage. No plans to return.
I love this restaurant! I've been here numerous times and it's always great. This time it must have been short staffed because it took 2 hours for our food to arrive
Went for a pre-concert meal and glad we did. Friendly service great food ( bbq) reasonable prices. The hook was Nashville Hot Chicken and it didn’t disappoint. Others had the pulled pork, very tender and beef brisket...nicely done!
GREAT FOOD... FUN PLACE!! We had a large party before a concert and they got us in and out.. limited menu .... FABULOUS!
The food wasn't as good as the last time we were there. They might have been short staffed because our waiter seemed really busy. The band was good, and we always appreciate the ambience. Overall we had another good night there, and recommend it to anyone looking for a good night.
Food & their beer selection was great. The service was really good. I enjoy the music from the live band.
Chicken and waffles was amazing
Food, service, music, ambiance- all fabulous!
Server was the best part of our dinner experience. She went out of her way for us.
Appetizer portions are tiny and I had a sense that the kitchen attempts to disguise that with fusion. ( which there is no place for in southern cooking)
I was born in Memphis so I may be spoiled.
Fried green tomatoes were disappointing.
Mac and cheese was decent.
Best part ( Nessie’s our server) was the Ambience and Perfectly tastefully decorated walls
I do frequent Theodore’s in Springfield. Mass, so there is a chance I am comparing Sally’s portions to why we get there.
Great food and our server Nikki was on it from start to finish. Will return.
