      Delicious food for fair price based on quality and taste. Service friendly and very attentive. Dog friendly out area that is covered. On site parking is limited, but ample public parking near by. Overall, enjoyed our visit.

      A great deal of confusion regarding what was on the menu. We were directed to the website which was out of date then to the QR code - also out of date. Came for fried oysters, lamb and lobster mac&cheese. All on each menu except the one they were using that night. Fries were other worldly as was the mac&cheese. Steaks were decent. Good sized and cooked to order. However not as flavorful as I would expect for $50. Each comes with a sauce that was very good. Exceedingly noisy where we had to shout across the table.

      Wayne, Thanks for your feedback. Yes, we did have some trouble for 48 hours with a third party menu software we use for our QR code. We have since moved to another system and the problem has been remedied. We are terribly sorry for the confusion but know it has been addressed and shouldn't happen again. I would recommend checking us out for happy hour when we offer a killer deal of $18 for steak frites from 4:30 to 6:00pm daily. In regards to the noise, yes it does get a little lively in here but feel free to request seating in the front room or even on our covered patio for a quieter option.       Server was nice….misunderstood one of the orders in the party and brought wrong thing; two orders - one being the crab cakes and one being a filet- were undercooked - had to be sent back to kitchen for adjustments - lobster Mac was really good BUT seafood not as fresh as I’d like - we live on the ocean so fish is literally right of the water an on plates in minutes - so VA might not be the place for fresh seafood given it’s location…. We had really been looking forward to going to this restaurant and left disappointed overall

      We've been to Black Cow many times and have typically enjoyed it. Our experience on May 4, 2025, however, fell far short. The service was very slow, particularly for a Wednesday night when they were not overly busy. The server provided no updates or apologies for the slow service. Even the bread didn't come out until after we'd been there about 45 minutes... which wasn't a big deal because we don't eat much bread, but it was indicative. Our food arrived not cooked as we asked (requested medium, but it was more rare). What's worse is the food was all room temperature, as if it has been sitting for 10-15 minutes... which could explain why it took so long to get to us. You could even tell by the sauces... they had started to form a film on top from sitting. This is unacceptable, particularly for a a fairly high-priced menu. We will be giving some second-thought to returning.

      Food was excellent, as usual. The service was very slow. Multiple tables that arrived after our table were served and received food before us. There was a long delay in getting our beverages served.

      Delicious steaks but really everything was well thought out and prepared including the appetizers,salad and desert. Has nice outdoor seating area when weather permits and an attentive staff. Definitely worth a splurge.

      Most delicious meal I’ve had in Cville in years! Our filets were so tender, plus the Brussels spouts and red smashed potatoes were perfectly done. I didn’t love the patio because it’s on a busy street; but will certainly be back to eat in dining room. A must try!!

      My favorite restaurant in Charlottesville hands down. Service and food was great. However we went at happy hour and voiced this with our server. I usually get a certain cocktail waitress shared a new cocktail that we may like took her suggestion. It was very good. However when we got the bill it was not a happy hour drink and we paid double what we expected to. Waitress misled us and did not make it right.
