Bistronomy by Nico Downtown
Look for dishes like duck confit steamed buns, tuna tartare, escargot dumplings, and steak du boucher on Bistronomy’s menu, which Romo developed as an homage to the food he’s cooked since arriving in Charleston in 2007.

Food was poor quality. Do not recommend if you’re a foodie or from a food city (NYC / SF), you’ll be disappointed.
Very nice food and service. Noisy and lively. Thank you!
Just thrilled that we could get a reservation here while we were in Charleston
it was worth all the hype and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal service and the atmosphere. We will be back
Bistronomy by Nico was amazing! Innovative food which was sooooo yummy and good. We sat out on the patio which was cute and romantic. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. Exceptional meal at a wonderful restaurant! Best food we have had in quite some time. We will be back soon! It is a must! Our favorite items were the escargot dumplings, herbed butter bread and pate en croute.
Excellent food. The bouillabaisse was incredible and the staff was very attentive. Great time.
Absolutely delicious
Always GREAT food and GREAT ambience...we LOVE this restaurant!!!
Excellent food and service. Probably best food we have had in a while in Charleston
The food was amazing and the service was superb!
I can’t wait to come back! The scallops were wonderful. Delicious veggies for vegetarians.
Wonderful place !
Excellent!
We sat at the bar and our reservation was for 5:00. It was quiet and did not get very busy/noisy as we enjoyed our dinner. Had the Goat Cheese Spring Rolls and Escargot Rice Dumplings for appetizers. My husband had the Duck a L’orange and I had the Market Catch fish. (I apologize for not taking photos of our entrées!) We also had the pommes frites and the chocolate mousse and profiteroles for dessert. Everything was EXCELLENT! We wished we would have found Bistronomy sooner than our last night in town! We will be back the next time we come to Charleston!
I was very pleased ... definitely going back
Fabulous service and dinner! I think we tried most of the menu between the four of us and we enjoyed everything. The only drawback is trying to find parking.
Excellent service, bar seating very uncomfortable, great drinks, wonderful scallops. I need to be a bit sharper when offered a choice of regular or sparkling water...didn’t realize we’d be charged at all for sparkling water much less $6.00 for a bottle we didn’t even finish. Overall a very nice dinner.
Great dining experience, now one of my favorites in Charleston.
Overall, our experience was neutral. The food was just ok. It was interesting, but the execution was a little off. My husbands duck breast was over cooked. My scallops were tasty, but the coconut rice was a disappointment, and the pickled vegetables were also on one of our small plates, maybe the spring rolls. We weren’t unhappy, but at this price point, we expected better.
Amazing wait staff and amazing food!
Shock and Awe ! I treated a NY friend and his son to dinner as they were in town touring the College of Charleston as a possible choice. The dinner was so good it may have iced the deal ! Being a Restaurant management headhunter for the past 3o years, I have eaten great meals all over the world and this experience was awesome.
Keep up this work and you will far exceed every diners expectation !
They made a Striped Pig Lavender Gin Cocktail with locally made Striped Pig Gin and it was heavenly!!!! I cannot wait to go back for another!
We went to a few other highly rated Charleston restaurants and this was by far my favorite. We hope to come back soon.
Highly recommend: duck confit, goat cheese spring rolls, filet mignon & the chocolate mousse dessert cup. OH and the side of mushrooms were maybe best mushrooms I’ve ever had. Chic ambiance inside. Cozy patio for al fresco. Fantastic service. Highly recommend.
Here for a month and been eating our way thru Charleston... this was literally the best. Fantastic food, flavor, amazing dishes and selection 😋
Thank you Chef Nico and staff!
Wonderful dinning experience...food was exceptional and wait staff were very attentive an knowledgeable...Best meal we had during our visit to Charleston.
Great service and exception food.
Great place to go to eat true excellent french food !
Beautiful all around! Loved everything about it. Food was AMAZING. Can’t wait for Summerville location
All of the food was superb. Sangiovese wine was a bit disappointing and table next to us was very noisy. But otherwise, the restaurant is a masterpiece.
Mother inlaw in town
There wasn’t a bad bite on the menu. Thoroughly enjoyed the octopus and the Duck Confit made me gasp it was so good. Will definitely be back many many times.
We are Charleston residents and dine out often. My family celebrated my birthday at the Bistronomy by Nico. I was delighted to experience this new restaurant with outstanding food and service.
We sat outside for lunch and I ordered the quail stuffed with sausage and a mushroom cream sauce. It was amazing. The pork buns were great and my husband ordered a tubular mu shoo wrap off the weekend lunch menu, also great. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and wines. I would recommend it highly. It is just off king street.
Everything was great. The head chef/owner came out a few times and greeted us.
Excellent server!
While on vacation we happened upon this incredible restaurant. The full and total experience!
The food was outstanding- delicious, creative. Seasonings enhanced flavors without disguising them. The service was prompt, personal and efficient. We truly enjoyed our evening and will definitely return.
Expectations were so high! But, the food just didn't match up. It didn't seem to have much flavor. We found this with 4 out of 5 dishes we ordered. Sorry! There are so many better options in Charleston.
This was not what I would call a typical French restaurant. There was not a lot of choices but what there was was good. The biggest problem this restaurant has is parking. There is none for the restaurant and you need to try and find a parking spot in a residential area that requires parking stickers to park. There are lots of empty lots and churches with empty lots that might be available to the owner of this restaurant. The Hyatt parking lot is about 1/2 mile walk and is only $2 per hour. That is where I finally parked.
Was really looking forward to dining here based on reviews. The service was very good, the food was good too. My issue was that the cost of the food didn’t represent accurately the quality or taste. I had the “market price” filet mignon, which came out to $42. The filet was good, was it outstanding, no. I’ve eaten much much better steaks for quite a bit less money. My husband had a salad with four shrimp on it which was around $17. We were excited, we love French food, we don’t mind spending money on good food. This was disappointing.
Great experience. First time there. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was well prepared and presented. Not over the top. Nice selection of wine by the glass. It got noisier as more people showed up but still manageable.
