Bistro La Chaumière is bringing authentic French Mediterranean cooking to Divisadero Street, the gourmet corridor in San Francisco’s North of the Panhandle neighborhood.

Initially opened in 2023 as Crêperie La Sarrasine and renowned for authentic Breton galettes, Bistro La Chaumière’s menu now expands with interpretations of iconic bistro dishes inspired by a Mediterranean culinary heritage and seasonal ingredients ~ from lunchtime favorites like Croque Monsieur, Œufs Cocotte and Galettes Bretonnes to bistro dinner staples like Soupe à l’Oignon, Moules-Frites, Bouillabaisse, Confit de Canard, Boeuf Bourguignon and Steak au Poivre.

La Chaumière’s airy space, inspired by classic French bistro interiors,opens to sunny sidewalk tables and a sheltered parklet, offering the perfect perch to observe the buzzing neighborhood.

This was our first dinner at Bistro La Chaumiere and we really enjoyed it. For appetizers we tried the prawns in tomato sauce and the bacon, onion and cheese crepe, and for our entrees we tried the beef bourguignon and a side order of fries with aioli. We had the profiteroles for dessert. Everything was delicious and we look forward to returning.

While the prawn appetizer was wonderful, the rib eye steak was drowed in the cream sauce. And the french fries were a bit soggy.

Their crepes are amazing! The wait staff could be more attentive in filling up our water glasses but overall it was an excellent experience, ambiance, and value. Give it a try!

In the[past week we had both lunch and dinner at the Bistro. Both food and service were excellent. The hard to find buckwheat crepes were well prepared ;the egg cooked to perfection. For dinner I would not skip the brussel sprouts. The slight creamy texture added a pleasing touch. The overall ambience was that of an old, established Parisienne Bistro. Chaumiere Bistro is a valuable addition to the neighborhood. Don't miss it!

Slow service. Fries for the table came out at the same time as the main entrées. We had to ask for water refills several times.

Party of 4 ordered several different dishes. 2 out of 4 entree were extremely salty. Brussel sprouts were fantastic.
