At dinner, Bistro Casanova is a romantic destination for meals before a show or the perfect stop before flying out of Maui or after picking up a friend in nearby Kahului's airport.
Food is always good and the prices are reasonable. They have a great Happy Hour from 4:00PM
TO 6:00 PM. You can also reserve a room for a private party. We especially love the past dishes and the bread and cheese sticks.
The restaurant was so unnecessarily loud. The server had given us menus of food that was no longer available. The food took almost an hour to get to us. The bread was cold. The server was hardly ever around. They brought us tiramisu to compensate for the wait, but nobody wanted it. The capellini pasta was severely under seasoned, like no salt or butter at all, and the shrimp very very overcooked. The carbonara was flavorful. Wish our experience had been better, but it wasn't. Probably will not return.
A Bon voyage to our kids
Love to go there , but they have only a couple wait staff who have been trained proper, if they’d train their staff it would be a 4 star place. But until they train them it will always have issues .
Cansanova bistro has a nice vibe, medium priced, friendly staff and a decent value for central Maui.
Menu items not available, waitress was slow and did not attend to or check on us regularly, had to wave and jail assistance
We split the Surf & Turf and the Paella, food was outstanding as always!
We’re so blessed to have this excellent neighborhood Italian restaurant only minutes away! Food is always great, friendly service, and
changes in menu & specials! We go there nearly weekly. Owner is so special.
Last dinner in Maui before we flew home to Florida later that evening. Could not have made a better choice. Great food, super happy hour drink prices and very efficient and anticipating service.
Service wasn't that great. Waited too long for waiter to come back
long story short ..made a resi for 7 ..hostess that checked us in took off of work ..they sat other couples before us..they forgot about us..had to say something by 7:15 ..sat us right away then..told us they were gonna take care the cost of half the dinner.. they covered the side of lobster tail ..(probably not half the bill) ..steak was way under cooked..had to get cooked more..food was ok..oh well ..first time there..probably not going back
Usually a great dinner experience however, most recent the service wasn’t not up to par. We had to ask multiple times for one refill of water. After a long wait we finally were able to place our dinner order just to wait another long while. When our food came half of our party was done eating by the time the others received their food. Thank goodness they didn’t wait. Our server was very apologetic for the wait and gave us their most popular dessert free of charge.
Went here before a concert at Maui Art & Cultural Center (Jake Shimabukuro-phenomenal ! ). We had lunch here several times, this was our first dinner; it won’t be our last. Service was impeccable, the waitress was fully knowledgeable about all the dishes and had no hesitation in making changes to meet my wife’s dietary needs. Food service was quick and the presentation and flavors were faultless. Drinks were at Happy Hour prices and were full-sized and excellently crafted; the wine list had a nice variety of choices and reasonable prices for Maui.
Overall, a wonderful experience for us. My only regret is not coming here for dinner on previous vacations on Maui.
Kara and the other gentleman went out of their way to ensure that our special needs were met, e.g. finding the last of the breadsticks - Anna's favorite, lobster salad available, tako preparation inquiry, and tolerated our many requests for photos. Bistro is always my go to place for special occasions. I have celebrated many milestones here and will continue to return. Mahalo also for the Tiramisu for Lucia's and my birthday treat!
My sister-in-law was visiting from the mainland so we brought her to Bistro Casanova! She was skeptical that there was good Italian food on Maui! I've been to Bistro many times, so I knew she would love it! Jeff was great! He timed our dinner perfectly since we were heading to the airport. My sister-in-law had the ravioli and absolutely loved it! The chef sent out a couple of tapas which were enjoyed by all! The gentlemen in our party enjoyed steaks cooked to perfection! Overall, a really enjoyable dining experience!
Always our favorite restaurant when we have tickets to the Iao Theatre or the MACC. ( we live on the West side) . We treated ourselves to the surf and turf this particular night ( 5 oz lobster tail and 6 oz filet mignon...yum!). One of the great servers there, Pietro., Took care of us graciously and efficiently as always. We will see you again, Bistro Casanova!
Great food and service. Love the all day Saturday Happy Hour.
Happy hour special on wine cannot be beat beaten. $5 for a tall carafe of Chianti or Pinot Grigio until 6 pm. The Caprese salad is pretty awesome and the pasta dishes were great as well
Wonderful food & menu
Wonderful Italian fare. Chosen for its nearness to pineapple plantation.
Creative sauces on the fresh Mahi. Portions were perfect, but watch out, the minestrone is excellent, but the cup, comes as a large bowl.
Visited Bistro Casanova on 2/24/18 it was suppose to be a nice dinner date with my husband which turned out to be horrible service. Booked a reservation on open table for 745pm. When we 1ST got there we had to wait addtl 15 min due to that they had given our table away. The couple who walked in without reservations got our table. 2ndly once we did get seated and ordered it took the waitress 20 min to give us our drinks. 1 hour and 10 min after placing our order
Our dinner had not arrived at that point we got up looked for the manager and said we were leaving. She apologized and said she could have our items wrapped to go and would take care of the bill. Declined the offer because having pasta sit in my car while I watch a 2 1/2 hour movie wasn't an ideal solution for me. Plus what bothered us more is that not once did the manager come by and acknowledged us or how the service was. Very disappointed especially how rare it is for my husband and I to have a night out without our children.
All of our dishes were excellent, particularly the paella
Always a nice evening at Bistro Casanova. Central Maui does not have good restaurants. Period. Except Bistro Casanova. They are consistent in food quality and well priced. Our waitperson was attentive, polished, friendly, all qualities you cannot find elsewhere in central Maui. Their pasta carbonara is authentic, none of that pseudo-carbonara sauce that's really an Alfredo. Salads are fresh and flavorful. Minestrone full of veggies in a satisfying tomato base, served piping hot the way soup should be served. Noisy front room so if you need a quieter spot so you can actually converse, check out the tastefully done back rooms. Bravo BC!
Too noisy. Made experience bad. If I knew when booked reservations that 2/3 of the restaurant was booked for a special event, I would have gone somewhere else.
First, the chef and waitress need to get timing together .
Drinks ordered never got but billed for. Didn’t get extra vegetables and charged for . one dinner returned still charged.
Of course waitress embarrassed, sweet girl but get it together!!!!
3rd time of bad ness!
Who serves one salad 20 minuets before any other soup and salad came out? You must be going through a lot of chefs the egg plant is never the same. Take time to train your staff how to serve all at same time. Check the plates before serving ! Check ticket before presenting. Simple little details will improve on all around service! Clear those empty dishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My husband and I went there during the last 15 minutes of their happy hour time. Inside the restaurant was very noisy, so we chose to sit outside. We were able to order 1 round of their special drinks $5 mojito with strawberry (additional $2), beer and calamari to start. The calamari was dry, chewy and over cooked. For the entree, we shared the Paella. It was good and filled us up. The waitress was quick at the beginning then it started to take her a while to get our request (soda/check) to us. There was only 3 tables including our table that she was serving. We waited for our check for almost 10 minutes.
Overall, I would recommend to go during happy hour as it is a popular spot for groups. I would not recommend sitting inside if you want a quiet dinner. Prices, food and drinks are fair/good.
Was seated and treated rudely by our waiter and ended walking out after ordering beverages because the waiter was so horrible totally ruined our Valentine's Day
Food great!! Server great!! Drinks served after dinner served. Something wrong with bartender. Otherwise, excellent!
Very accommodating due to stashing luggage and moving us from the patio when the weather turned bad. Enjoyed the food, service and ambience. Great way to spend time awaiting a late airplane departure..
Similar service issues with dinner as last time. Salads came out promptly but entrees took over 30 minutes afterwards. Food was very good as usual.
My wife had the duck, and it was outstanding. I had veal scalapeni and was great. One of our favorites on the island.
A special locals place with reasonable food and wine prices. Will go back again. Cecil was a super server!
This is one of our favorites on Maui, have never been disappointed.
The menu is wonderful. The pricing is very reasonable. Friendly staff. Highly recommend a reservation. We were visiting the island and it was a close walk from our hotel. It is clearly a very popular local favorite as the restaurant team warmly greeted many people as we waited to be seated.
Great food! Bar was noisy but we were there during happy hour. Would definitely go back though!
Great food and excellent service! Perfect spot for nice dinner to kick-off vacation.
Food here is always good and tonight's dinner was no exception. We arrived very early and fortunately they had a table available despite being very crowded. Unfortunately, our server didn't approach us for over half an hour. This was very annoying. Once she took our order and our food came (another 30 minutes) we were fine. Two of us had the veal saltimbocca - meat was excellent but the portion was small. My wife had the mahi mahi special which was excellent as was the chicken entree. Service here is usually excellent but when it's crowded it can be slow.
The restaurant was not busy on a Friday lunch time around 1215. We order salads and it took a long time to come out. With a business luncheon we were only looking at 30 minutes being there, but ended up spending a longer time waiting for our salads
