It is always a delightful event to dine at this restaurant
Easy to park and have dinner here before an event and walk to downtown area shows.
Food is always mediocre. Service is hit or miss.
Food could easily be better with a few tweaks.
Restaurant food and service were great. Had great service from Victor
Micheal our waiter was awesome. The food was delicious and the speed of service was excellent. I love going and not being rushed and having the food come out in a reasonable amount of time. It’s not close to us but I would make a special trip for this place.
It is awesome. Great service and food. Aldo a great place before the theater.
Not only was the food terrific, but the ambience was delightful. Plus!!! They kept my leftover box in the frig while I was at the theatre to be picked up when the show was over. Wow!
Thank your Lynne for your 5 star review. We do save desserts and bagged up leftovers as a courtesy to our guests who do not want to store them in their car during the performances.
Very good experience our waiter was nice and and patient great food for a good price would highly recommend.
Thank you , we are tickled you enjoyed your visit!
Our server and manager were fantastic!!
Brunch is always great!!
I ordered the 3 course special before the symphony (steak and shrimp) the steak was 25% fat, shrimp was ok. Not what had I expected.
Seated right away and asked if we had a preference for a table. Prompt service. Food was very good. Prices were fair. Wine by the glass was a fair price. In and out in plenty of time to get to our show.
They were very attentive and professional. They DID read the special requests I made via OpenTable and they even had TWO options that would fit my request for me to choose from when I got there. I asked for a secluded table and they reserved two and let me choose (Outstanding!)
There was live jazz and bossanova music playing in the background which I enjoyed quite a bit. This was a Sunday afternoon.
Parking was a bit pricey in my opinion but you are in the theater district so it makes sense they would want to capitalize on that. Nevertheless, this was a special day for my wife and I so I was not going to let that detail damage my day. That fact did not influence my experience in the restaurant that day, although it has the potential to do so any other day.
Food was good and they had a good wine selection, but I definitely want to give a shout out to their service.
Thank you David for the wonderful review and comments. We are excited that we lived up to your expectations. My apologies, but we are not affiliated with the Alley Theater Parking garage only that we occupy the ground floor. I wish you had mentioned the server so that we could give them some accolades also.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted in such a welcoming matter. We were by far under dressed in our Astros gear because we were going to game after brunch.
Thank you for the 5 stars. We are happy you enjoyed your visit! We have people come in all the time dressed in there team gear, we encourage the show of support for our home teams.
I always enjoy coming here with my mom when we go see plays at the Hobby Center. It's close enough to walk there, and the parking is cheaper than valet parking at the Center.
Thank you for the 5 stars, we are tickled you enjoyed experience!
Great food! It took a while for server to attend us after being seated. Other than that, I recommended it!
The food and staff are always great. They get you in and out to make curtain time but let you relax and not feel rushed.
Great experience! Reservation honored with no wait time, service was good even though it got very busy on a Friday evening. Food was perfect!
I did not receive what I ordered. Instead I received a steak which I kept due to the time it would take to get what I ordered. They then charged me for their mistake of serving me a steak instead of what I originally ordered. When we commented on it the server she said she would have to get the manager's approval. We did not have the time to wait as we had tickets to the theatre. Also, she was already aware of the mistake in the food but had done nothing to remedy the situation. It was very loud and we really didn't enjoy our meal.
Parking is easy; service is great; food very delicious; wait staff friendly & professional.
Had a very nice lunch before a matinee at the Alley. The entrees were very good, but the salads had very little flavor. I was also a little surprised that an Italian restaurant charged for bread with our meal. Overall, a good experience.
We eat here every time we attend a play. This visit found the restaurant very crowded due to several events going on nearby that evening. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our table despite having reservations. There is really no lobby so everyone waiting was crowding around the bar and entrance and we felt in the way of those dining as well as the servers. Once we were seated the service was prompt, but my one complaint is that our meal arrived at our table just after our appetizer. This left our main entree getting cold while we finished our appetizer. :( Otherwise the food was good and we enjoyed the evening.
Saturday night in downtown Houston was one of the most crowded nights I have witnessed . Every place was full . The restaraunt was packed . We had a reservation . The manager got us a table in under 10 minutes , actually ahead of our reservation time . The server was prompt and the food came out quickly
and well prepared . They were all courteous and attentive . We went on to our reservation at The Alley and enjoyed the play . We came back to Birraporetti's after the show for drinks . We were remembered and welcomed and had a great time hearing the live music .
Thank you for the 5 stars, we are tickled you enjoyed experience!
We've enjoyed going here on our theater nights for years. It can sometimes be crowded, but the staff is adept at handling the rush. They also know how to get patrons in and out in time for the curtain.
Drinks are first rate, and the food has never disappointed us.
Wife’s steak was tough. My grouper was average. Service was nice. We arrived early but the hostess found a good table for us right away. We’ll be back.
Overall excellent with a couple of minor missed steps.... irrelevant to a positive review!!
I had the best salmon I’ve ever had! Crispy top but super thick & moist inside. Service was friendly and attentive! Loved the entire experience!
Thank your Barbara for your 5 star review We are tickled you enjoyed experience!
It seemed that they were not prepared for our reserved seats, we were stuck in a corner near the front window, but it was okay, because it was quiet there. Pork chop was dry, too hard to cut, white fish was good, overall the food was good.
Background recorded music was too loud and not soothing dinner music
We ordered water, a glass of wine, garlic bread, salad, and 1 entrée. The salads arrived first and were soon followed by the entrée. Water arrived after both the salads and entrée. The garlic bread and wine were no shows. Very disappointed that no one appeared to be walking the dining room making sure the diners were having a good experience. No signs of anyone in charge. Birraporetti's should be knocking it out of the park, but they appear to be asleep at the wheel.
We came at 6:30 for an 8PM play. It took 40 minutes to get our salads. The main course came before we could finish our salads, probably because of the play schedule. Our meal became a little rushed but it all worked out.
My wife and I went for dinner prior to a show at the Hobby Theater. I dropped off my wife at the front door while I parked the car. When I came in, I didn't see her right away so mentioned to the hostess that my wife had just come in a few minutes prior and mentioned my last name (we did have an OpenTable reservation, and were right on time). The hostess simply looked at me like she had much more important things to do than answer my question - fortunately, this was the only low point of the evening.
While I was originally planning on ordering an Italian dinner, their Curtain Call menu (3 courses for $ 38.00) included a ribeye, so I went that route instead. The steak was huge, cooked medium rare as requested, but was not anywhere near top-notch at that price point. My wife had the jumbo cheese ravioli with meatballs and sausage, which was good, though not necessarily great.
The service was friendly, the ambiance was pleasant, and the bill was reasonable, so it met all my requirements for the night.
Our waiter Felix was awesome! But the food was ok. I guess you shouldn’t get steak at an italian restaurant. It was tough, no flavor and so bloody that when he cut the steak blood spewed all over his pasta. We were running late for a show and didn’t turn in a complaint. Alot of money wasted. Next time only pasta will be ordered.
As always the food and ambiance were great. My Veal Picatta was wonderful. However, our waitress must have been new so not very efficient. There was a problem with our credit cards getting processed. We had to sign on a separate form which I have never seen before. That took much longer than usual. Thankfully it was dinner after the Alley Matinee and not before the evening performance so we were not in a hurry. We have never experienced these delays before.
Food is always above and beyond expectation, staff are always pleasant, atmosphere is worth the dining before or after a play.
The service was great, The Raspberry Lemon Martinis were delicious! The food was fresh and delicious! We had the bacon wrapped shrimp which were huge, also the Marco Polo was amazing!
Great food as always. Great service and they will really strive to get you out quick if you need to.
Multiple times here but will not be back. Service was terrible. All orders were messed up but the final straw was my basic order. Spaghetti with Italian sausage, but was burnt and dry so did not eat and just left.
There are a lot of options before a show and I will not go back after 20 years. Go somewhere else. Also note wanted to complain to the manager but she disappeared not to my surprise. I will not be back!!!
Nice ambiance and great staff, ready for diners wanting a quick meal or patient for leisurely diners. Parking on site if needed.
Before show dining. Always great. Chicken picatta is the best!
The restaurant was busy as usual before an Alley Theatre performance, but they were able to accommodate us quickly and the service was prompt and friendly.
We enjoyed being able to talk and hear each other at our table. Our server was attentive and personable. Our only disappointment was the calamari was just ok. Everything else was fabulous.
