The restaurant has been here for a long time and sometimes it shows. The reservation wasn't ready, the food was only average, and a few table near us were getting a lot of attention from a manager trying to make up for mistakes in their order. Our server was pleasant, but our order took a long time considering that people come here before attending shows and timing is important.
Waiter was a bit distracted by a larger party, but it did take a bit more time than anticipated to get wine glass refills and check.
Our waiter was great and the food was good but it took nearly an hour to come out. Our server finally said “let me go talk to the manager and see what is taking so long” and it came out a few minutes later. People around us were seated after us but got their meals quickly while we waited. While the server apologized repeatedly, no manager ever came by. Luckily we had plenty of time before the show, but it took way too long.
We have been here several times and each time it gets worse. We were seated promptly, and that was the last good thing I can say about the evening. The salads were all lettuce. One cherry tomato. We then were going to split a pizza. While still trying to finish our lettuce, the waiter starting shoving plates toward us in a small table. He spilled my drink on me. He shrugged and took my salad away (still eating my lettuce) and never offered to replace my drink. The pizza was very undercooked. Our dining experience lasted less than 39 minutes. It felt like an evening at McDonald’s. The manager came over and after explaining our evening, he finally took the spilled cocktail off the bill. We will never return.
The food an atmosphere was fabulous. Our waitress however was very slow in every aspect of handling our table of 6. She nearly made us miss the opening of the performance at Jones Hall we were going to see.
Service was very slow. It took a while to be waited on. I believe the server was over worked. We had to ask continually for everything we ordered. This may be convenient for pre show dinner but not unless you can pull it off. Very disappointed.
My son and I had our pre-marathon pasta meal here (fettuccini & meatballs in tomato sauce with a side order of bread). The food was excellent with good sized portions and service quick despite the restaurant being quite full. Our waiter was great and restaurant ambience very nice. Good value, highly recommend and will definitely go back next time in Houston!
Great food and good quiet atmosphere, even though they were very busy.
This is the best place for Italian food in Houston! Always cannot wait to return.
Great ambiance. Very friendly staff. Food was excellent as was the service. I would definitely recommend to anyone and will return when back in Houston
Dinner before the show! Always nice to dine before Hobby Center performance.
Went on a Sunday afternoon prior to seeing a show. The food is excellent and our server was very attentive. We had people tell us that we would be rushed since going prior to a show, so I was skeptical. However, our experience was quite the opposite. We never felt rushed and was able to enjoy the live music while having dessert and coffee. Will definitely go again!
This is one of our favorite Houston restaurants. We're glad they are taking reservations.
this is my favorite restaurant in the theatre district. Food is great and the staff is most accommodating and friendly
The food was okay, but the service was nonexistent. It was crowded before the concert at Jones Hall, but we almost walked out after we were seated and no one waited on us for almost 10 minutes.
My party of four was very disappointed with our experience before a Saturday evening at the theatre. We were served garlic cheese bread that was not hot and toasty. Salads were thrown together and unappealing. The entrees were excellent and so were the deserts. However, for me a major negative is that I had to ask for coffee refills and that third cup of coffee was cold.
This was hugely disappointing since we have always enjoyed the great food and service. Unfortunately, we had a similar experience when we went to see a Christmas show.
Took several minutes for waiter to greet our table, then got our drink order wrong. Ordered appetizer pizza and salad. Food was great, service was iffy. Will return in hopes of a different waiter next time.
As always, very good and so convenient for concert and theatre goers. Grilled salmon is a favorite, but pasta and pizza is good too. They make every effort to get you out in time for your show, but you will enjoy their coffees and desserts too if time permits. All in all, can’t really go wrong at Birraporretti’s!
Great experience! Love this place!
Very attentive staff with a professional attitude, the food was very good and prepared in timely manner. This was my first time going to this establishment and I will definitely go again, and recommend it to everyone!
Thank you for the 5 stars, we are tickled you enjoyed experience!
We were pleasantly surprised by the experience. Food was really good, the pizza was excellent and the desserts were fabulous.
Good and dependable food. Attuned to theater timing. Was a little loud; asked the manager to turn down the music which he did.
Fast service even on show nights at Wortham and Alley...convenient to both.
From the time we entered the door there was a tension in the air between the management and the team. We were sat at our table. Drinks were ordered. The waitress was so busy talking about her personal life to the table next door that it took forever to order our food and then you could never find the waitress. For such a nice place with great food they need to train their staff on hospitality. I recommend you reserve ahead because there is a line. We made reservations 2 weeks ahead.
Eli was an amazing server. The food was excellent.
Convenient for pre-threater dinner. Servers were busy. Noise level was fine.
Pizza our grandsons shared was good. My wife's chicken parmigiana ok and my rigatoni with meat sauce and sausage would not order again. Sausage was sliced and grilled dry hours earlier and was near cold.
I used to love Birraporetti's, as did the friend I was dining with. We were both so disappointed. Food was edible. The only thing that was good was the garlic, cheese bread. Sad
We were visiting the Houston area for the holidays and Birraporetti’s was recommended for dinner before we went to the theater. Took forever for someone to take our order —appetizers, drinks and food. Timing for everything was off (appetizers came same time as entree), couldn’t get anyone’s attention for more drinks or bread, and entrees didn’t come with the correct sauce that was ordered. I know there was a large theater crowd, but Birraporetti’s is used to that, or so we thought. Everyone seemed rush and not particularly friendly. We will not be going back.
Superb location for a pre/post theatre meal. We dined for lunch on Christmas Eve before a performance at the Alley (next door). I love the convenience of the location, but the food was mediocre. Menus were worn and dirty, hostess was unnecessarily rude, and service was slow in a mostly empty dining room. Desert tray looked like it was made two days ago. Wasted potential.
HOUSTON Ballet Nutcracker
Something has happened to this location. The service was non-existent. We were seated promptly, since we had a reservation. After waiting 25 minutes, my husband finally spoke to the host at the door to ask if anyone would ever come to our table. No water offered, no service at all, even as we tried to get the attention of several servers as the attended tables adjacent to ours. No one even made eye contact with us. It made the rest of our evening very sour, but we remained polite to the people that finally came to help us. At the end of it all, we weren’t even offered a discount or a free dessert for being ignored for such a long time. We will not be back.
We’re not properly staffed. Management did their best to accommodate but seemed strange they weren’t staffed after A Christmas Carol performance Sunday night before Christmas.
Tremendous experience at end of peak rush (6:30) week before Xmas. WE were seated 5 minutes early at 6:25 and were out in plenty of time for 8 pm Jones Hall performance. Food was absolutely to die for. Veal was tender moist, delicious, and cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and courteous. Water order took a while, I had to ask for silverware , and remind server about bread. However it was packed and I have trained myself to be patient. Absolutely will become go to restaurant.
The pizza was good. Not so with the shrimp...way too much batter.
The food as awesome and service was good at first. After entree waited at least 30 minutes before we were approached for anything.
The food was very good! It would have been nice to have a salad and bread served with the entrees.
We dined at the bar area at Birraporetti's, on Wednesday, before our show. Food was wonderful, Bellini's amazing, and the bar appetizers were plentiful and well priced. Will defiantly visit again.
Service was slow. Had to wait for more coffee. Thought waiter had forgotten us since helpers waited on us.
Tea was brought without sugar, had to ask twice for it. The waiter did not follow up with us after our entrees were brought. Overall, bad experience. Felt rushed.
