Enjoyed dinner before the play at the Alley
One meal was totally unacceptable, and cold not be eaten.
Great food late night. Loved the live guitarist. Food was delicious and service was fast.
We were seated promptly on this occasion, as opposed to previous visits. Service was acceptable, however our initial waiter was replaced by a new individual who serviced our table. The second waiter was fine, but I never know in situations such as this which one to waive down when I need something like a drink refill or additional silverware.
We had a reservation on valentines' day and we were seated immediately as we arrived. We were seated in a section in the corner where it was quite. There was only one waiter for nearly 8 tables or so but he (Felix) did a great job so we had a very good evening. They had a good selection of vegetarian choices which was important to us. It being cold, I was looking for a warm dessert but they didn't have any. Overall, we had a good evening there.
Took a while to get a server. Didn’t get our salads until the meal came and they were the wrong salads. Everything else was good.
Highly recommended by past patrons The staff and service was outstanding. Our wait person was very observant to our needs ... made it a pleasure to dine
My husband and I ate here for Valentines Day before going to the Opera and the food was amazing!! We started with the appetizer sampler then my husband ordered the Chicken picatta w/ lobster ravioli an asparagus and I had the Filet w/spinach Alfredo and asparagus and omg, it was delicious!! We returned after the opera was over to listen to live music and a glass of red blend with their chocolate chip cheesecake. We will definitely be returning!!!
Enjoyed our night with dinner before the show and our waiter Earl was great!
Then had an after show drink and desert with another outstanding employee "bartender Mr Smalls" .
We had lunch at Birraporetti's before a Sunday matinee Houston Symphony performance and ordered off the menu rather than having the buffet brunch. Our server was excellent, very patient with our questions and accommodating with our orders. The food was good and ample. Location for those of us going to performances nearby can't be beat.
Great brunch buffet!
Mommie Daughter date
I did not eat my dinner. The chicken was very, very dry. The green beans did not even have the ends cut off, and they were oily. The food overall was not hot. The only thing that was okay was the massed potatoes.
Worst experience ever! Birra Porettis has gone downhill! We went there bc it was close to Hobby Center as we were seeing a show at 8:00. Made reservations for 6:45. Got there on time and was asked by an older gentleman at the front about our table. He then said “well I don’t know, you’ll have to wait.” Finally was seated and the waiter never came so another gentleman took our order. The waiter finally returned but was confused why we gave our order to the other guy? Ordered a dirty martini and was far from anything resembling a drink. Bean soup was so salty! Garlic bread tasted like the one you get in the freezer section at HEB. Bright lights. No ambiance. Will not visit again and suggest you don’t either.
Nice place to eat before the play. Great selection of food. Nice ambiance.
Great food, very clean, exceptional manager, Chuck we love u!
Thank you Richard for the 4 star review. We will pass your comments on to Chuck, who,by the way, is an investor ,not a manager.
Dinner was a very pleasant experience - food and service. We even came back after the show and had dessert and coffee.
Always a great meal at a reasonable price. We tend to visit when in the theater district for an event, but would be good anytime.
Good food, excellent service, and we enjoyed the live music.
Great service! Very quick. Consistently good food.
Always great food and drinks. Good service and friendly
Thank you for the 5 stars, we are tickled you enjoyed experience!
service was poor-slow to take order, timing of food delivery off
Three words: Don’t Do It! I expected mediocre food from looking at reviews but the annoyed, disinterested server made the mediocre food even worse.
Felix, our waiter was tremendous. All was great!!
Dinner before the theatre with my daughter
Overbooked, noisy and chaotic. Service was very very slow and food not hot when we got it. Several people waiting for food and service. Will not return sorry to say.
This is usually a good place. They have a captive audience of
Wortham, Alley, Jones, etc. But the chow is just average. But, but
the prices are not bad. My noodles were cold with only a dollop
of bottled alfredo sauce thrown on top. I can do that, but not as badly
We would give it another try. Our servers wasnt very attentive!
We chose Birraporetti's for a pre-theater dinner since we were seeing a play at the Alley. We were able to have dinner and a leisurely stroll over to the theatre.
The food was average- the Tuscan bean soup was over salted, the veal picatta was chewy - the "straw and hay" fettuccine was o.k. Service was over bearing at times- and then the waitress would disappear for long stretches.
So- you be the judge- it can't be beat for location if you are going to the Alley but it feels like the restaurant is sliding by on its location
The restaurant has been here for a long time and sometimes it shows. The reservation wasn't ready, the food was only average, and a few table near us were getting a lot of attention from a manager trying to make up for mistakes in their order. Our server was pleasant, but our order took a long time considering that people come here before attending shows and timing is important.
Waiter was a bit distracted by a larger party, but it did take a bit more time than anticipated to get wine glass refills and check.
Our waiter was great and the food was good but it took nearly an hour to come out. Our server finally said “let me go talk to the manager and see what is taking so long” and it came out a few minutes later. People around us were seated after us but got their meals quickly while we waited. While the server apologized repeatedly, no manager ever came by. Luckily we had plenty of time before the show, but it took way too long.
We have been here several times and each time it gets worse. We were seated promptly, and that was the last good thing I can say about the evening. The salads were all lettuce. One cherry tomato. We then were going to split a pizza. While still trying to finish our lettuce, the waiter starting shoving plates toward us in a small table. He spilled my drink on me. He shrugged and took my salad away (still eating my lettuce) and never offered to replace my drink. The pizza was very undercooked. Our dining experience lasted less than 39 minutes. It felt like an evening at McDonald’s. The manager came over and after explaining our evening, he finally took the spilled cocktail off the bill. We will never return.
The food an atmosphere was fabulous. Our waitress however was very slow in every aspect of handling our table of 6. She nearly made us miss the opening of the performance at Jones Hall we were going to see.
Service was very slow. It took a while to be waited on. I believe the server was over worked. We had to ask continually for everything we ordered. This may be convenient for pre show dinner but not unless you can pull it off. Very disappointed.
My son and I had our pre-marathon pasta meal here (fettuccini & meatballs in tomato sauce with a side order of bread). The food was excellent with good sized portions and service quick despite the restaurant being quite full. Our waiter was great and restaurant ambience very nice. Good value, highly recommend and will definitely go back next time in Houston!
Great food and good quiet atmosphere, even though they were very busy.
This is the best place for Italian food in Houston! Always cannot wait to return.
Great ambiance. Very friendly staff. Food was excellent as was the service. I would definitely recommend to anyone and will return when back in Houston
Dinner before the show! Always nice to dine before Hobby Center performance.
