With the exception of the loud party that was in the same area, and your drink special leaning on the weak side, the experience was enjoyable.
Business lunch, not to crowded, nice service. Sea bass was rather dry.
Carlos our server was very gracious.. help me figure a vegetarian dish quickly. Great service and ambience. My guest loved the Steak :)
We are regulars at Birk’s for more than 3 years but I have say that the dining experience has degenerated over time.
I requested for a booth for the last 5 reservations and did not get a booth. For whatever reason, Birk’s just decided we don’t deserve to sit in the main dining area and always seated us in a corner somewhere even when the restaurant isn’t packed.
Food quality has been consistent but the serving size of the calamari appetizer has been shrinking over time.
We usually have to wait over 15 minutes to get service but generally, server is attentive.
Mainly, I just wished they don’t behave as if they were ashamed of us so we must sit out of sight! And to acknowledge my request for a booth. I also think they should have a decent portion for appetizers, given the price charged.
Dennis was the best!!
I had the filet, 10 oz and I would rate it as okay. The sauces are good. It was busy and therefor loud, but not any older than many of the restaurants. Service was good.
Classic steakhouse, popular with locals. Filet was delicious. Prime rib is smoked so not what I was accustomed to. Service was very friendly and helpful.
Husbands birthday. Great service by Andrew and the food was so tasty.
Very good. I was impressed by wine list pricing. That was most notable. Tuna tartar was excellent too.
Great food and service. Very nice and quiet but we were there near the end of the lunch hour when few diners were left.
Good as always
Incredible food and attentive staff/service
This was a very late (in the day) reservation. We were seated promptly, and not pushed to order a full meal, which we appreciated because of the hour. The meals were great, service efficient and unobtrusive. What more could we have asked for . . . .
Continues to be my favorite venue for business meetings, but it's time to change menu. Go for fusion food, which we do not get around here....
Great waiter. First time encounter with him...
Big Thank you overall -
This restaurant is a delicious and romantic experience. Also can be a delight for the family. Pricey, but worth every penny. My only complaint is petty in comparison to the quality of food they serve and it was due to a complimentary Calamari that I paid for because the waiters attention span lacks there of. Needless to say, I would recommend this restaurant to all who want a quality experience. Just keep the waiter and Manager honest.
No waiting upon arrival, however, did not get the requested booth seating! Restaurant was clean, lighting was good and decor was pleasant. Server was very friendly and attentive. Steak, however, was a bit of overcooked, not what we expected. Ambient was vibrant and a bit of noisy. Overall, a pleasant one to enjoy the service and food.
First time I've been for dinner and it didn't disappoint. The food was excellent as was the service. I'll definitely keep it on my list for future visits.
Too much pepper on the pepper steak. good food but over priced.
Valentines Day dinner
The food is always consistently good and a great high end option on the weekend to avoid the crowds at other locations.
It’s a really old school establishment with excellent steaks and drinks. The service is amazing. Highly recommended for a special occasion. St Valentines Day was exceptional here.
Very ordinary food. They took out lobster out of the menu for Valentine’s Day. It was extremely ordinary for the price you pay, won’t go there again.
Great dinner for Valentine’s Day. We just weren’t seated until 20min after our reservation.
Food was great but the wait was insane. Even with a reservation it took 30 minutes to get a table and an hr to get the food to our table. Probably cause it was valentines day but got exhausted with all the wait we couldn’t finish the food and to go it.
Boris is my favorite steak house I’ve been coming to burka for over 20 years and I’ve never been disappointed
Our Valentine's dinner was perfect. We were in a room off to the side so it was pretty quiet and not a lot of traffic buzzing by our table. Our server was amazing. The food was well-paced and hot when it arrived at our table. It was a little more than we were planning to spend, but we were completely satisfied with our meal and overall experience.
Great service. Awesome filet mignon. Meats always cooked to perfection. Enough wine choices to not get bored.
Great Valentines Dinner. Good service and food. Our waiter was great also.
Was a little skeptical because yelp reviews weren’t as good but google reviews and open table reviews were great. Decided to come here for Valentine’s day with a reservation at 7. They seated us on time & even though Birk’s was PACKED, the service was great & the food was just as amazing. Everything from the bread, to our appetizers, & to our entrees were very flavorful. We would’ve loved to try the desert but we were too stuffed. Would definitely recommend!
We had a wonderful Valentines dinner. Our waiter was attentive and the food was delicious.
Good food, great service.. Good wine list, more pasta dishes would be nice and be able to pick up sidess.
This place has always been great. The food is great service is great
Wife’s favorite restaurant in the Bay Area
Service was a bit slower than expected at 5 pm.
The oysters were overpriced.
Birk's is always a very special place to have dinner. You all always guaranteed to have great service and great food!
A TRUE SILICON VALLEY INSTITUTION! Now that the Lion ->
Service was nice, but not so smoothly & no explanations that how to enjoy the food more.
The portion of the stake (NY stake) was nice, but not so tasty which I expected with price.
Wine is very nice & reasonable.
Think of steakhouses in the area and a few names spring to mind....Alexanders, Birks, LB Steak - they are the "top of the tree", so you should expect a good execution. I booked around lunchtime for that evening, with plenty of options free for times - so we chose 7pm. We were met and seated reasonably promptly, and then it all went downhill.
Offered water, then left with menus for 10 minutes. Then our server introduced himself, and offered us the wine list on an iPad. Didn't ask what sort of thing we were looking for, and just walked away. About 10 mins later he came back, and we'd chosen a bottle. Wine arrived promptly, but no sign of our server to take our order. Eventually flagged to one of the other servers and the "head guy" came over to apologise, telling us our server would be over in a moment. A few mins later the head guy comes back himself, still no sign of our server....Our order is taken by the head guy, and we are left with wine, some bread turns up a few mins later. Total time sat at the table at this point, 35 minutes!
Appetisers arrive very quickly, and are pretty good, but as we are part way through appetisers, entrees turn up, are about to be put on the table and vanish again. They are brought back a while later when we've clearly finished the appetisers.
Overall the food was good, but the service was the worst I've ever experienced in nearly 15 years of going to Birks. It didn't seem busier than normal, just terribly organised.
On the basis of the service, and the overall value of the cheque, I will be going elsewhere in future....(worth noting that I visited Birks twice on this trip, and on the first visit, food was at best average, but service was much better, but then we had the "head guy" from the outset on the other occasion). Disappointing overall to see what a Bay Area institution has become...
I have been going to Birks for years and it’s always been my go to when having lunch with a colleague etc. Having recently moved to Southern CA, I had to go up to Santa Clara on Business and decided to have a nice dinner by myself at Birks while in town. It was a horrible experience. I felt like I was being punished for being a single party given where they sat me. It was clear I was an after thought to the person waiting on me...I expected far more and found myself leaving incredibly disappointed. I’ll never go back...it’s really a shame as I used to love this place...
Great place for a casual business lunch.
