   We both had the fillet minion with Oscar shrimp & crab cake & brenaise sauce, grilled asparagus, and creamy mashed potatoes. I ordered my steak medium-rare and my wife ordered hers medium. They were both served medium-rare. My wife enjoyed hers anyway because they were delicious. We had a table overlooking a frozen Long Lake which is surprisingly undeveloped and wooded. It was our first time here and we intend to return for my birthday this spring when the lake is open and trees are green.

   I really want to love this place, but can't seem to love it - and we've tried. Four times we had reservations, and all four times the table wasn't ready when we got there. We were told to wait at the bar for 20 minutes +/-. That's fine sometimes, but every time? That said, we thought the food was good enough to keep trying, and I even bought some gift cards on the holidays to take advantage of bonus money. In February we went for a special Sunday Brunch. It was $27 and was literally just bacon, eggs, potatoes and pancakes. We got there at 1 (reservation, which wasn't honored). The server said brunch was over at 1pm, even though the email I got and the confirmed reservation both said it was until 2. They ended up leaving the "leavings" so we could get the brunch. It was not appetizing and not worth $27. Yesterday we tried again, for the fifth time. It was Monday and not busy so our table was ready this time. +1. We looked at the menu, and wow have prices gotten ridiculous! A ribeye steak is $75 - we didn't get it. A side of brussel sprouts was $18. Fried chicken and 2 oz of baked beans (with beer?) and 2 oz of cole slaw was $25. Wife's salmon was $37 and it was crunchy on the outside. As a plus, it did include 4 spears of asparagus and an odd mushed beet thing and an olive paste. Strange combinations. Our food was not bad, but it definitely feels like they are trying too hard to be unique and "foody". Nothing here that really seems outstanding. I asked about the ribs and the pasta, and the waitress said the chicken was better than those. The fried chicken was nothing to write home about. We could have gotten our meal at Famous Dave's, it would have been tastier and would have cost about half. We've tried to love it 5 times, and at this point won't be back. Anyone want to buy our left over gift cards at a discount?

    Birchs on the Lake is one of our favorite places to go, whether on the deck on the summer of inside when it’s colder. The food is always delicious and the view is great. Every table is great - except the ones with high stools. If I’m going to a premium restaurant I don’t want to sit on an uncomfortable barstool.

    We always enjoy going to Birchs. The menu has many options and there is always a nice twist to a common entree. Our meals were very good, the service was great, and the atmosphere was upbeat and enjoyable.

    Meet a friends I haven’t seen in a long time. The server was horrible! She didn’t know there were onions my halibut taco. I requested no onions and onions were brought out on the taco. The server didn’t bring out the food. No apologies after telling her I sent the taco back. I had to request lettuce because taco came back out with just the fish and shell. She did provide extra sauce, which was not needed. She apparently didn’t view that I had sauce with my plain taco on the side. If I was would have told me that the taco had onions on it; I wouldn’t have ordered it. The other servers/staff needed to refill our beverages. This was not a good experience.

    The food was good and delivered fast (which was a plus), but it wasn't great. As a $75 meal, it would have been good; but as a $150 meal, it was overpriced.

    Great table. Enjoy the ambiance. Excellent service. Had ribs. They were a little dry. Salmon was very good. I’ve been here now 3 times recently. Working through the menu. I’ll be coming back. Looking forward to trying out brunch. Heard it’s great !

    Service was slow but probably because the waiter was also the server , bottle washer, cook! At least it seemed like it. French fries was $10 for a side order.

    Had reservations at 7:30, showed up right on time, was told it would be a few mintues so we stood in the foyer to wait. Wasnt seated until 7:55 and was seated at a high top next to the bar area, not in the dining room. Food was very good, server did a nice job. Had many great experiences at Birches, this wasn't one of them.

    I love this spot, but our Prime Rib was very expensive and didn’t have any flavor. Very over priced for what you get. I’ve been here several times and I really enjoy all the other items on the menu I’ve tried.
