Second time being more than disappointed by this restaurant. A few years ago, the bartender screamed at my brother in the middle of the restaurant (after I had given him a very generous tip). We’ve since boycotted the place but decided to give it another shot because Dennis, the bartender, has since left. We sat at our table for a hour before anyone came to take our order. Guests who arrived after us were served before we even placed our order. Staff was clearly struggling but they were very unprofessional and made sure we knew their workplace drama. It sucks because the food is good and it’s only 10 minutes from my house. I love supporting the local businesses here and am sympathetic towards staffing issues but I won’t be back. This is not where I want to spend my money.
Very nice staff ..great food and drinks… would definitely be coming back
Good was innovative and delicious
Service was excellent. Food and drinks were outstanding!
Great Margaretville stand-by. Always good
Always go to Binnekill when staying at the Roxbury. Love the food, love Nikki and the rest of the staff. Food is exceptional, a must when in the area.
This family run gem has a wonderful vibe. We sat riverside outdoors and the staff could not be more personable and attentive.
Solid menu items which extended beyond the ordinary. Very fresh seafood and the dessert was heavenly.
Cocktails looked inventive and will try next time we’re there, and we shall return…
Delightful staff-very personable and helpful-food was superb and most reasonably priced-the dessert was a chocolate ganache and to die for!! I wish we lived closer.
Delightful menu selections from appetizers to dessert. Artistically presented on plates. Quality is superb, as was the flavors. Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed our evening at Binnekill Tavern so much we’re returning tomorrow night with more of our family. It is a family- run business and the service, food and ambiance are all warm and welcoming. A gem of a place!
Don’t miss this family run restaurant tucked away in Margaretville at the north end of the Catskills. We visited twice - for a late lunch and early dinner - and were immediately put at ease by the friendly and personal service. Try the watermelon and homemade lemonade cooler (with vodka for those who appreciate a stronger cocktail), and leave room for truly special carrot cake dessert … loved both our meals and came away with the chef’s own cookbook before we left … hoping to recreate something of the vibe back at home, but the open air backdrop and view of the mountains will be hard to match.
Food was excellent. Everything was fresh, including our waitress. Nicole was awesome. Would highly recommend this place. The only thing missing was the water view. The river was totally dry.
We love Binnekill Tavern! the Martinis, the oysters, dining inside or on the deck! Or at the bar! friendly baristas and waiters! excellent variety of really good food. Uncommon menu, not your run of the mill, for sure!
Our server Nicole was very entertaining. She kept us laughing the entire night. We were full for two days after the food is soooooooo good. The shrimp appetizer was to die for! I strongly recommend that.
Nice flavors. Happy staff. Fast service..perhaps too fast.
Trendy menu but they nailed it.
Great food and phenomenal craft cocktails made with in-house infusions. Huge prime rib entree, Catskill trout app were great. Friendly service by Nicky, owner/chef stopped by to say hello too. A keeper!
Food is always amazing here!!
Excellent food, but had to wait a long time. Service was inattentive. Seemed like they were short-staffed.
Great service. Excellent drinks and appetizers. Entrees we’re very bland.
This is our 4th time dining here. The first 2 times were great. Food was awesome all 4 times but 2 out of the 4 times the service was horrible & this last visit was the worst. The waitress was very young. I overheard one of the workers say she was the 15 yr old daughter of someone who worked there (maybe an owner) she definitely acted like a 15 year old who can give a crap about her job. She was friendly but she didn’t do a good waitressing job at all. She took our order & then disappeared for the rest of our time there. She was socializing with all the locals that came in & to the people at the table next to us almost the whole time. We asked her for more bread & she never brought it. She never cleared our appetizers, so someone else who worked there had to do it to bring us our dinner. We asked her twice for more ketchup with our fries & we never got it, she never came back to ask us if we wanted more drinks or needed anything & It was quit annoying. The prices aren’t cheap at this place for up there which we wouldn’t mind paying if it was all around excellent experience so it’s disappointing we paid so much for a crappy experience. Our previous visit we had a similar experience where the waiter was young. He didn’t even tell us the specials, another waitress there told us the specials after we placed our orders, which was to late & he also neglected . I hardly complain or give bad reviews but like I said, it stinks when you pay a lot for a meal & don’t leave very happy. They need to do better with their staff & maybe next time if we even go back I can give it 5 stars.
We ate here on a weekend trip to the Catskills on the recommendation of our Airbnb host.
The hostess was warm and welcoming. We ate outside on the patio. Our food was fresh and delicious. The cocktails were excellent.
Dinner was excellent. The steamed mussels with piquillo peppers was a great appetizer. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. I had the lamb and my wife had the schnitzel; both were excellent. Desserts were top notch. Wine selection is limited but covers most bases. Service was a bit strained as they only had 2 wait persons for the whole area it appeared. All in all a fine time.
The Binnekill is consistently good—sometimes excellent and always very good, depending on the specials of the day. The cocktails are always creative and delicious. During Covid the service was understandably spotty but everything seems to be on an upswing. Location is right in town and the dining deck is beyond pleasant in good weather. Definitely worth a visit for lunch (weekends only), drinks or dinner.
Sesame wings were delicious. My burger was cooked perfectly. My wife said the pork schnitzel was one of the best she's ever had!
Great to see so many people eating out and enjoying themselves.
As a regular it’s just great food, service and atmosphere 👍👌☝️✌️
Great food with a view and outstanding service! We will definitely be back.
Delicious! Wonderful food, ambience, service. We sat outside and it was lovely. I got the chili, my dining companion got the burger. Both excellent. Will definitely return.
Fun drink menu, delicious foods, and great service!!
Food was delicious as always and it was certainly good to be able to dine out again. A big shout out to the bartender and the one waitress who handled the large crowd seated both indoors and on the outside patio. The size of the crowd was overwhelming but they provided great service without skipping a beat. They truly know how to hustle to get the job done. Both wonderful employees who are outstanding and vital assets. Cheers to the staff!
Wonderful meal. Had an outdoor table on a lovely evening, overlooking the water, watching ducks taking off and coming in for a landing. Waitress was very attentive and had a great personality. Warm and relaxed atmosphere with good food.
Food was delicious & Service was outstanding. They were super accommodating when I needed to change my party size & reservation time. Drinks are also very unique. They serve delightful mixed cocktails.
We enjoyed our dinner, the atmosphere was very nice. The service was very good.
Your portions are ridiculously large! My "appetizer" salad was enough to feed a family of four!
Always a great choice. Food is good, service is good. But look forward to bring bread back to the meal
Had the sliced sirloin of lamb in a pool of parsnip-kohlrabi puree with roasted carrots. Superb! Perfectly prepared and not seen on any other restaurant’s menu. Excellent cocktails and service. Can’t wait to have it again.
Great evening out. We like coming up the Bennekill quite a bit. Always a great dinner.
We've been enjoying Binnekill Tavern for years under the prior owner. With our latest visit this past weekend, we can once again highly recommend this Margaretville restaurant. Nicole is a fantastic food server - we feel that we left as friends rather than just customers. The salads were huge - Cathy had an interesting "special" with peppers, cucumbers, and avocados. My "greens" had a good lettuce and tomato variety. Roasted salmon and pork schnitzel were excellent. The french fries were worth the indulgence! Too full for dessert so can't comment but they looked delicious at other tables.
Great place for fir food, drinks, service, and ambiance.
