Binnekill Tavern is a historic tavern overlooking the scenic Binnekill Creek in Margaretville NY, in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. House made specialty cocktail. Owners Phil Farinacci, Peter Botros and Bryan Calvert have transformed the space into a modern nod to the mountain life. Because it was Labor Day weekend, we reserved our table ahead of time. When we arrived we waited almost 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. After being seated, we realized the restaurant was seriously understaffed and were ready to be patient and understand the server's position. There was no management on the floor, only two servers and a bartender. Our server took our drink and food order and brought the drinks over. Shortly after we were brought my husband's Ceaser salad. Then we waited over an hour and watched as tables that came in after us got appetizers, entrees and actually (we believe) OUR dinners. So, we decided to leave. We gave our server cash to cover our drinks and salad and a tip. The topper was our server actually trying to guilt us into staying by telling us SHE would be forced to pay for our dinners if we left. We will NEVER return to this establishment. Very poorly run and we have no idea what the food tastes like because we never had a chance to find out. The salad was okay, at best.

The server we had was absolutely ridiculous. I do believe he for got to place our food order we witnessed other tables come in after us and were served and finished their food before we were served. This is only to blame our server The food was fine I was there to celebrate my 9 yr old grandsons birthday and even he said several times where is our food? I waited patiently because of his birthday otherwise I would have gotten up and left.

Hadn’t been back in 3 years and so glad we returned. More than met our expectations- great happy hour drinks, schnitzel delicious and server Christine - the BEST We’ll definitely return very soon

Slow service. Almost 90 minutes for entrees to arrive. Fish Salmon & stuffed haddock overcooked. Uncomfortable seatin. Staff was trying hard to deal with situation such as bar staff walking out.

One waitress for the ENTIRE restaurant. Many people just walked out. We have been here a handful of times already. Each time there’s not nearly enough waitstaff to cover the restaurant. Sad that the service is really holding this place back. Great ambiance. Great food. I wouldn’t bring guests or friends here. Just a frustrating dinner experience.

Binnekill Tavern review: Poorly trained staff. I can't comment on the food. We never got that far. I made a reservation and when we arrived on time, the laconic hostess meandered over to us and without asking our name, asked only "How many?" The restaurant was not full by any means so perhaps checking off a reserved table’s party had arrived was not a priority. She picked up 3 menus and just turned and walked away. We followed. She put the menus on the table and as an afterthought, said that someone would be with us soon. Another person did bring glasses and water without comment. We waited. And waited. We were told that someone would be by to take our order "soon". We waited again. Not wanting to be the "ugly weekenders" we gave things ample time, but after almost 30 minutes of watching the staff clear and reset other tables and walk around between the kitchen and front of the house empty handed, we told the first person we could make eye contact with that we were leaving. She asked if our server had even come over to us, commenting that we were not at one of her tables. The rest of the staff either didn't notice or didn't care as we walked out. As the busy summer season rolls in, management should make a strong effort to be sure that they have trained staff, not just the right head-count.

The service was very slow when the restaurant was not that busy. We had to go up to the bar to get our drinks refilled it took so long.
