    Everything was great! Service was helpful and knowledgeable and the food was delicious. Location was beautiful and the staff all signed and presented us with a happy anniversary card.

    They changed the menu and the options are much more limited. The old menu was way better and more fun. Quality and taste of food was not good. Also, way over priced.

    So disappointed- used to be one of my favorite places to eat on the Big Island. Used to have people waiting to get a table. Now most tables were empty. The once unique and flavorful dining experience has gone downhill. Menu has been reduced to nothing special items and lacking flavor. The Hot Rock share plate of American Wagyu Beef, Shiso Chimichurri, Ginger was bland - no marinade or sauce just chili crisp (not chimichurri), slices of pickled ginger and a weak tempura sauce. The Big Island Roll of Shrimp Tempura, Ono, Avocado, Furikake Crunch, Cracked Pepper Aioli was bland- furikake crunch was more like tempura crumbs. Rushed through service to clear the table of food probably due to the incessant flies around the table. House special sangria was delicious but that’s not enough for me to keep this restaurant in rotation and sadly can no longer recommend.

    The property is beautiful and the staff is lovely. It’s possible I got the wrong thing by ordering the crispy red snapper. It needed a different sauce or some type of rice or something to make it into a well balanced dish. The fried rice was good and the crispy bao buns but for $100 the fish wasn’t worth it. Thank you to the staff though!!!

    Bincho tan used to be defined as one of the most unique and fun dining experiences in the island but unfortunately those days are over. With a complete overhaul of the menu things have really changed and not for the better. Gone are the unique yaki tori style dishes and the white coals (where the restaurant gets its name) and welcome the generic upscale fare. While the food itself is not bad in the slightest it isn’t unique nor justifiable in its price. Furthermore, while the food has been completely redone the cocktails are the same which are lackluster at best. They did retain their phenomenal staff which is always a plus but between the needless change of the food for the worst and the not so stellar drinks I cannot in good conscience recommend the former hidden gem.
