Great experience overall. The food was very good.
I consider Bidwell a casual dining spot in DC. First, our waitress took excellent care of us. She seated us quickly and got food and drinks rolling for us, and provided good recommendations for us on the menu. My husband and I split a few different entrees and all were tasty. If you’re looking for an American food joint to take the whole family or want to entertain guests from out of town that want a solid burger or pizza, its a good spot.
Restaurants was available on open table for reservation. I got a call about 1 hour before my reservation and told me they were closed until April 1. Why were they available on open table?! I made a reservation assuming they were open, and they didn’t honor it. And there weren’t any others to make by the time they notified me.
Despite the reservation, this restaurant does not have designated tables and instead shares an outdoor seating area with the entire area. We could not get anybody to take our order nor answer the phone.
Delicious food and great outdoor dining experience.
Great staff, flexible, kind, and funny. Excellent (really, to be sought out) food. Great seating options. Rare treat in these days. Needed.
Such a fantastic experience! Definitely will be coming back.
So great! As aways! Keeping up with current covid protocols and such great food. Cannot recommend enough. They don't take reservations for outdoors in case of bad weather but easy to switch outside if you already have a reservation. Go there now!!!!
Love this place!! Great outdoor sitting! Delicious food and great service!
Excellent as always. Couldn't make an outdoor reservation probably because they don't want to worry about the weather, but it was easy to move outside. So glad to be able to enjoy this and still be safe.
Definitely recommend as a brunch spot, very good service and great ambiance as well.
Perfect place to meet with friends or for a date!
Always our go to weekly. Brought new local friends who loved it. Thanks for working so hard to get back open during this National Emergency 🚨 😷
Nice work considering the coronavirus. Felt safe. Staff super nice. Pizza and appetizers were tasty. Good drinks. My only complaint was that my steak and my wife’s salmon were both overcooked (asked for medium rare, steak was medium well-similar with salmon). Dessert and limoncello good too. Maybe a little bit off tonight but we’ve had good meals before and will be back.
Doing a great job since reopening. Great food just like before. Bartender made me a yummy drink he created himself. Welcome back bidwell
Solid food and good service. Great option for outdoor dining.
The food was delicious, but there were limited breakfast options on the brunch menu. Even though the menu started at 9:30am, the options were very much designed for a noon crowd. Portions were small and did not seem to fit the end bill.
Went here for brunch on a Saturday morning. The ambiance was decent. Wasn’t super busy but where they lacked is in service. Not only was there things floating in the water, but they brought the wrong dishes out - despite only having three or four other tables in the rest of the resturaunt.
The food was good . The server, Bridgette, was very good. The noise made it extremely difficult to have conversation across the table. Add to the noise a guy at the bar, who is reportedly a regular, attempting to sing arias at the top of his lungs, while curious the first time or two, was very annoying as it continued.
Not sure if I would return unless they address the noise level.
Comfortable spot for a group. Excellent beer and pretty good food too. Service was a bit abrupt the night we went, but we'd probably go back again.
Service and food are top quality at Bidwell- great choices for vegetarians/vegans and the charcoal crust pizza is a must-have. Beautiful interior, attentive and pleasant staff, and very high quality drinks and dishes at reasonable prices.
My group had mixed reviews on the food. I was expecting more inventive food taking advantage of the rooftop garden greens that were advertised. The fact that much of the food seemed like standard "American bistro" fare is probably a reflection of what we ordered (two people ordered ho-hum burgers). I ordered crabcakes with avocado and there wasn't much avocado, but it was still good. Mussels were good but a little salty. Appetizers ("drunken" bean dip and brussel's sprouts) were both good. The service is very friendly and it's a lively and fun location and atmosphere. I would go back but probably order pizza and salad.
Great food and atmosphere! Had a very nice lunch meeting.
Bidwell accepted my reservation, accepted my money, but did not give me 100 points for dining there. Why?
Delicious food, charcoal pizza was delicious. However, my husband and I made a reservation for my birthday one week before, and still we don't receive the best table or special attention. But in general food was very yummy.
Nice neighborhood option for a casual dinner. Great staff
Great atmosphere and service was great. Server was training a new staff member and both were attentive, outgoing, and absolute pleasures to have. Keep up the good work!
Valentine's day dinner at the Chef's counter, good place to sit, a little more room and less hectic than the bar
Unsure I could recommend Bidwell. We love good food AND good service. We were seated over 30 minutes late, received our food much later than tables near us that were seated and ordered after us and generally didn’t see much of our server. I realize that Valentine’s Day is busy and part of the issue maybe that one at our table did the fixed price menu but hungry people hate to wait for their food.
Great crew at Bidwell’s. Everything overall was very good. We received water immediately then our appetizer. But the drinks we ordered before the water was brought cam close to 20 minutes later with our entrees. Kind of odd but ok, we had water. Fun atmosphere.
Great experience for my birthday, were able to accommodate a last minute change in party size
Steak was not good, very tough. My friend sent hers back and when they brought a new entree they had cut the meat for her. It was still really tough so she returned it again. They did take it off the bill, but then charged her the appetizer price for the two sides that came with the steak. $14 for a baked potato and spinach. The wine was good, but the service, not so much. We asked for more water which never came. We also had to flag down waitress for steak knives. Waitress not very attentive.
My family and I chose this restaurant for my birthday. I asked to sip a couple of varietals of wine. The server gave me one glass with one type of wine; then a small carafe for the other type. How was I suppose to taste the other wine. She said the restaurant ran out of wine glasses. They also got all of our dessert orders wrong. The pizza was tasteless. It was really disappointing given it's reputation.
The food was mediocre. Our server didn’t care. We waited for our drinks 20 minutes and our appetizers arrived first. Not worth the hassle nor money paid for “just okay” dinner. Asked for second drink for wife and drink didn’t come. Waitres showed up 7-10 min. later without drink and asked what else we wanted. Are you kidding? I said “her drink” and was given a smart aleck remark.
Needless to say, Stay away from this dump.
Delicious drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert! And the music playlist they had going was exceptional.
Service and food very good. Staff very attentive.
I have been here more times than I can count. The food and service is amazing! Always have a customer in myself :)
The good was good, but despite the restaurant not being terribly crowded, the service was poor. We had trouble finding our server and little things, like we ordered a root beer float, which sat in the kitchen (we could see it) before it was delivered to us.
We ate here on New Year's Eve, though it was early in the evening. While I was initially disappointed that they did not have any NA beer to offer, the bartender came over and offered to make any cocktail without alcohol, which was nice and unexpected. The food was excellent. I started with a fried oyster appetizer, continued with a kale salad, and then a truffled grilled cheese with a poached egg. The menu is limited, which I like, though there are plenty of good choices.
Great sit-down option in Union Market. The cuisine was exceptional!
