Bida Manda is a thoughtful gathering place celebrating the diverse food traditions and culture of Laos. The Sanskrit ceremonial term for father and mother, Bida Manda was created out of the deep love and appreciation of food and its power to bring people together.

Please be advised that we only seat complete parties. Reservations are highly recommended, however our bar is also available to you on a first come first serve basis. Due to high volume, we have a 15 minute grace period, so if you are running later than 15 minutes from your reservation time please do give us a call!

Bida Manda instantly transports you to the heart of the Indochinese Peninsula, without having to fly out of RDU. Prior to visiting I had never tried Laotian cuisine. It's very similar to Thai a favorite of mine and whose country is their neighbor. The restaurant was not too busy but many were dining. The dining room is very compact with seating and the noise level is high. I would not recommend this for a date or intimate dinner to catch up with someone. The dining space pays homage to the owner's homeland of Laos with beautiful artwork and inspiration from Buddhism. Earth tones fill the room with modern light fixtures and soft romantic candlelit lighting reminiscent of many Thai restaurants I have visited. We scanned the QR code and I decided on the crispy pork belly soup everyone has raved about. Traditionally this gluten free soup is served as breakfast in Laos. It features Coconut curry broth with lime leaf, julienned vegetables, peanuts, eggs, fresh herbs, rice noodles, and crispy pork belly. The purple cabbage and rice noodles in the coconut broth paired with the very crispy pork. It was so rich and truly comforting. I'm drooling right now thinking of it. My friend ordered the stir fry ginger chicken dish without the cashew. That was delicious as well. I enjoyed the spring onion and sauce it was cooked in but the green beans needed to be cooked down more. Too crunchy. Our waitress was attentive and we enjoyed our meal. I loved the them of the restaurant and homage to Laos.

We had some of the best food and service I have had in Raleigh. I mentioned to our waiter that I had recently moved to the area and he even provided me with a written list of places to try! I had the Pork Belly Soup and my partner had the Papaya Salad, both were amazing!

The service was poor and the food was average at best. Empty dishes from our appetizer sat at our table for our whole meal. While the lettuce wraps were delicious and the papaya salad was good, the steak was poorly seasoned (and served in a too-small bowl for some reason). We each ate less than half of our steak even though we were both hungry. They mixed up our entrees (they paired my medium steak with medium spicy papaya salad with my husband’s medium rare steak and extra spicy papaya salad). When I pointed this out to the server who brought out our food, she nodded and walked away leaving us to awkwardly transfer components of our dishes from one bowl to the next. The sticky rice seamed like it had been made some time ago. Bida Manda used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Their food used to be delicious and their attention to detail/service used to be unparalleled. I haven’t been to Bida Manda in about 3 years, and sadly, after this experience, I will not be returning.

We had a wonderful all around experience. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with our two daughters (5 & 9) who also had a great time and enjoyed their entrees. The lettuce wraps were a delicious way to start the evening off. I enjoyed a different twist on the shrimp pad Thai. It was fantastic! They brought a traditional Laotian dessert out to us that was superb! Excellent service!

The waiter was great! I told him it was ours son’s birthday. He brought out a dessert with a candle on it. What a nice surprise! My son said he is great. We loved the food. We will definitely be back. What a great night!

The food at Bida manda does not disappoint and is very authentic. We visited Luang Prabang , Laos over the holidays last year and were able to sample many of the dishes on the Bida Manda menu in the local restaurants. Bida does a great job with them. Highly recommend!

If you order one appetizer, let it be the Crispy Rice Lettuce Wraps-delicious! So many delicious options when it comes to the entrees but the Crispy Pork Belly Soup is a favorite! The Sweet Chili Salmon and Pad Thai are also great.

If this were my first time dining at Bida Manda, I would have loved it. For me the food and service have been inconsistent from time to time. For instances after dinner palate cleansers used to be all the time…now they are hit and miss, depending on server from what I can tell. I asked to split the soup as part of the app and was given an extra spoon, in the past it has either come out in two separate bowls or with extra bowls to ladle it myself.
