Bida Manda Restaurant and Bar
Our parents' recipes are the inspiration for our menu. Every dish on our menu is exactly what we grew up eating. They are the kind of dishes you might find on the street corners of Luang Prabang and at a Laotian home.

Food, drinks, service and ambiance was superb. It would have been nice to have a tiny, little bit more of light at our table to see the details on the dishes presented to us but even then it was not truly necessary to enjoy our dinner. Overall an outstanding experience.
The food and atmosphere were both great. One issue was that Upon making the reservation i mentioned we had a birthday that we were celebrating and I even mentioned to our waitress to check the reservation notes yet we did not receive any acknowledgement of my girlfriends birthday. I’m hopeful that this type of oversight isn’t common for Bida Manda or any of their sister establishments.
I've never had Laotian food before so I didn't know what to expected when I visited Bida Manda, but now having eaten at this amazing restaurant I would gladly make it a stop whenever I visit Raleigh. The food was unique and delicious. I ordered the Beef Larb which was fantastically prepared and ran the gamut on flavor from savory to spicy. For dessert I had the sweet sticky purple rice which was also an amazing and unique dish. However, barring the great food the one thing that would make me recommend this restaurant to anyone I meet would be the amazing wait staff. I can honestly say, that I have never had a more friendly or knowledgeable server at any restaurant I have ever been to and she definitely turned my dining experience from just eating good food at a new place to a truly wonderful night out in Raleigh.
The food was phenomenal. The staff was friendly, but very busy. I would have preferred a more extensive wine by the glass offerings. We will definitely go back.
My wife and I took a visiting couple to dinner at this downtown, busy, and superb restaurant. We've previously eaten here with our adult children and their 2 y/o daughter. The appetizers were tasty and varied. The salmon was fresh with a superb sweet chili sauce that's different from the usual chili sauces. We certainly will return
Service was amazing!!
Food was great and the service was awesome! Very unique menu and knowledgeable staff.
As always, we enjoyed the meal, the service and highly recommend Bida Manda.
While the food and service were, as always, outstanding, the noise level at lunch is disconcerting at best.
Table was ready upon arrival. All dishes were clearly explained (and hotness levels clarified!). Servers stopped by at appropriate times and I was even surprised with a birthday dessert.
Always love Bida. They made my mom’s birthday one of the best she’s ever had. So appreciate the staff and the space. Thank you!
Chicken Curry was fantastic. Sat by the front door and it was very drafty, so ask for a table in the back.
Had the sebass, which was slow cooked in bamboo leaves with basil and some spicy sauce. It was really good.
Rice was dry and server forgot my drink, but was nice and took off my appetizer.
Would definitely go back
Birthday dinner for my daughter. Thought the food was very good and certainly out of the ordinary. Two orders of the Green Papaya salad were good . One with duck breast and one with the filet. Choose the heat level with caution: medium was pretty strong.
Sweet chili salmon and Pad Thai were also quite good.
We had a good experience on our first time dining at Bida Manda. The food was delicious and portion sizes were ample. The server was knowledgeable about what menu items could be made vegan for us.
From start to finish, this restaurant paid impeccable attention to detail. A wonderful experience—delicious food and attentive, knowledgeable staff. Romantic ambience.
Food is always exceptional! This is a favorite restaurant in downtown Raleigh!
Food was ok. The service was exceptional. I will come back.
We come every year for our anniversary but this year we had to wait because we were sick on our actual anniversary. We rescheduled and told them what happened. They brought out sparkling rose and macaroons to make us feel special and to say thanks for coming in after being sick!
Our waitress was amazing—I was struggling to decide what I wanted to drink. She gave me samples and suggestions and then helped me pick my meal. As always, extremely impressed with the service.
Ambiance is lovely. We love being in the restaurant with its warmth even on a 20 degree night.
Highly suggest! It’s our favorite place in Raleigh!!
Amazing food. Hope it’s a mainstay in Raleigh, NC!
An absolutely fantastic meal. Attentive server. Love this place and their food.
this place is awesome. it took a while to get our food because the waitress forgot to put our order in. we were celebrating an anniversary, and they gave us a free dessert. it is very loud in the restaurant, so not a great place for intimate conversation if hearing impaired.
As usual, the food and service were amazing! Thanks again.
I’ve been there for many years, they are always gave me good food and kindness.
Great restaurant to go to for any occasion. Me and the family will definitely be going back
Wonderful food and excellent service make for a nice meal appropriate for special occasions. My only gripe is that tables are close together (and ours was close to the front door--brrr) and the noise level is pretty high--so that makes it not ideal for conversation.
Ribs are 🔥
Our dining experience was fantastic! Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was fresh and authentic and delicious!! The only downside was that it was a little difficult to have a conversation because of the noise level in the restaurant. We will definitely go again.
Food is amazing!
Our server was wonderful and the food was just great. She made several recommendations that were right on target.
Love this place and the staff especially Patrick and Brandi.
We went there for lunch. I ordered the crispy pork soup which is supposed to be one of their most popular dishes. It was a big bowl of coconut curry with rice noodles in it and a few pieces of crispy skin pork. Nothing special. My husband had the papaya salad with lemongrass chicken. It was a small serving and the rice was very dry. We thought the food was average.
This restaurant was AMAZING! The owners were seated the table across from us and smiled, said hello! The food and cocktails were so delicious. Our waiter gave wonderful recommendations and we listened to them and could not go wrong with our decisions. Will definitely be back!
Absolutely wonderful. The spring rolls we're possibly the best I've ever had and the chili peanut sauce that came with them made me appreciate peanuts as a topping in a whole new light. The pork belly soup was absolutely phenomenal and my fiance loved her stir fry. The staff was warm and welcoming and didn't pressure us even though there was a long line. Definitely suggest checking it out! I'd recommend making a reservation.
The food at this restaurant is just so amazing! We were lucky enough to have a four-course chef‘s tasting menu experience and everything we ate was amazing. My favorites were the pork belly soup, the crispy rice lettuce wraps and the purple sticky rice dessert. The pork belly soup is something I will crave until the next time. It was so delicious! Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and made our time at Bida Manda perfect. Thanks everyone it was a wonderful time! Can’t wait to go back.
One of the best restaurants in Raleigh. Excellent in every aspect
Awesome meal and the service was excellent!
My wife and I celebrated our 10th anniversary dinner here. We did not have a great experience. We were seated somewhat close to the door and every time it opened a freezing gust of wind came blowing in. The food was way too salty. What’s worse is I ended up getting a stomach bug from whatever I ate that I’m still dealing with 3 days later.
Accommodating. Great server.
Our first time here and was very pleased. Food, service, ambience were all excellent. If I had to complain about anything it would be the chairs. Clearly invented by the Marquis de Sade...they obviously don’t want you sitting around chatting. Have to keep the traffic moving...I get it. Overall a wonderful experience and we will return.
