We eat out every Friday and usually have a great, if not always memorable, meal. Santa Barbara has so many good restaurants. My wife said she was looking for an experience and not just a meal though. Enter the Bibi Ji chef’s counter! We spent way more time than our usual outing. Enjoyed every minute. It was like some private high end service just for us. The wine pairing choices were so interesting and came with a discussion of their backgrounds. The food was simply amazing, every single course, and I could have meat options while she stuck to vegetarian. Exotic and delicious. More than we could eat, the left overs were still great today. But most importantly, we left with such a unique experience! Not to be missed.

The food was delicious and very flavorful. The only problem was that the music is extremely loud. My party (of 3) had to yell at each other because the music was so loud. We asked the hostess and waitress to have the music lowered -they ignored us. Instrumental music would sound better in that restaurant.

We had such a great time!!! The food was fantastic (beet pooriyal, murgh tikka, panir kulcha, baingan bharta, cucumber salad, okra raita) and our server went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help us have a good time. I asked if we could potentially get 2 iced chais to go, and she said they didn’t have to-go drink cups, but she doctored some takeout containers to give us iced chai to go. The murgh tikka was wonderfully made, and the beet pooriyal was uniquely great. The baingan bharta was amazing, too!

The service was well done and the food was excellent. Portions are large. The wine list was interesting but the prices were outrageous. Zero CA wines. Also I requested a cushion of some type for my metal chair as they would not seat us at the single padded bench tables. Honestly with a trend toward hard flat chairs restaurants should have some cushions on hand! My rear was sore all night!

This is the best Indian restaurant in all of Santa Barbara hands-down. The food is fresh imaginative, creatively served, and effortlessly combines complex flavors and textures for a first straight dining experience. The portions are generous without being overwhelming and the service is attentive without being annoying. We will definitely return.

Everything was sooo fresh and colorful and delicious!!! Lots of great options as well as we were dining with a vegetarian. 100% recommend. My only minor gripe is that the wait staff checked on us a bit too much, which made us feel like we couldn’t linger even though the restaurant wasn’t totally full and it was early in the evening. That being said, we had a wonderful dining experience since the food was so healthy/colorful/flavorful/well-presented.

Bibi Ji is an absolute gem! The food is incredible, the service is outstanding, and the ambience is fabulous. I recommend the crispy cauliflower and cucumber salad. Can't wait to go back!
