Best Quality Daughter houses a vibrant, chic décor and new, unique Asian-American menu. In 2018, chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, wanting to address the sparsity of Asian-American female chefs in South Texas, developed a new concept through a series of pop-up dinners called Best Quality Daughter with fellow chef Anne Ng and artist Jennifer Ling Datchuk. Today Best Quality Daughter is located in the historic Mueller House at the Pearl Brewery. Curated by chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, Best Quality Daughter's menu takes inspiration from her travels and the comfort food of her youth as a second-generation Chinese-American.

Quirky and imaginative food and ambiance. We loved everything from the unique wallpaper to the delicious green beans and Brussels sprouts. One of our favorite restaurants in San Antonio. Best Quality Daughter never disappoints.

Food was excellent,although limited selection on lunch menu. Gave 4stars instead of 5 for service because they served the main dishes before they brought the appetizer. Not sure if the timing was bad or they forgot the appetizer and got it for us after we mentioned it as we were being served the mains.

Second time eating, there was very excited to go back. They seated us in the far back corner of the porch and it was probably the worst table in the restaurant. Understandably that someone has to sit there, but I asked to be moved and they were open tables, but they would not move us. They were banging dishes and silverware nonstop. I asked the hostess to stop them from banging the dishes and silverware since we could not be moved, but that was never done. Food was great. The server was a little bit above average, but we’ll think about going there again. My wife has concerns with her hearing and I wish it would have moved us as I requested and we did have a reservation so it wasn’t like we were a walk-in looking for any table available.

This was an early dinner for 2 at 4:30 on a San Antonio muggy Saturday and it was also our inaugural experience at the Best Quality Daughter. The ambiance was American loud, a pet peeve. So you can skip over the following rant. Don't know why most restaurants we frequent have the music loud so that everyone has to be even louder in order to be heard over the music. Must be a cultural thing. We made our usual request to turn the music down a notch, which was somewhat accommodated. The decor was modern East meets early West. We sat on the enclosed porch with air conditioning, a must have in San Antonio on a July afternoon.. The meal was excellent. We had 'The Next Best Thing' mocktail followed by 4 smallish plates which we split between the 2 of us. The dishes consisted of Smashed Cucumbers salad, 2 Korean Corn Cheese Spring Rolls, Crispy Brussels Sprouts and Mochi Cheddar Hushpuppies. You could describe the dishes as a unique blend of South of the border oriental flavors with outstanding sauces. Our favorite dish was the Brussel sprouts. Personally I don't like Brussel sprouts, but my spouse likes them... These were roasted with a tangy sauce, which I have to admit won me over. Overall, the kitchen lived up to its' reputation. Since this was our first time there, the wait staff was very patient and knowledgeable in expelling the menu. Otherwise the waiter was attentive, but not obtrusive. Also the dishes came out sequentially so they were not cold when eaten. Overall, an enjoyable and unique meal.
