Bertrand at Mister A's
Disappointed in some of food. Considering restaurant was not that busy when we were there, they couldn’t get appetizers out hot, halibut was overcooked and dry. We’ve been to this restaurant many times. VERY disappointing experience. Not sure we would go back again given their pricing as well as their draconian cancellation policy of $50 PER PERSON. I feel that this is outrageous. There are many other fine dining locations I can go to in San Diego without a similar policy.
My duck dish wasn’t cook properly, skin was not crispy and the meat was over cooked. Brussel sprouts was too soft, over cooked. Your house chocolate martini was delicious, some what made up for the food.
Excellent service by Alvin and I love the ambience of the restaurant. I’m just waiting to catch the sun set their
Overall it was a wonderful evening. The view is fantastic and the service is exceptional. The salad, appetizer and dessert were very good, however the main course (we both had the halibut), was not great. The fish was over cooked and the presentation and accompanying sides were lackluster. Perhaps it serves us right for ordering fish at a restaurant known for beef.
Anniversary. A special place for a special occasion. There is no finer ambience in the county. The food is beyond superb. Our wait person, Wendy, made the evening even more special with her attentive service. A place to be savored.
My vodka gibson tasted of gin. Portions super small. My wife was sick later that night.
Amazing view and incredible taste. Very reasonably priced
Mister A's Staff,
Thank you all for your excellent service. As always, I had a wonderful time. Everything surpassed our expectations. My family and I appreciate your attentiveness and prestige quality of food. See you soon!
Tho one complaint is that the waiter was not familiar with the menu
A romantic evening. A must for dinner excitement with an amazing view of the city. Excellent food.
I dine there this evening have the lamb which came in various forms and found it very good.
I was informed that both this place and mille fleur were owned by the same group and I found that I preferred this better i.e. Bertrand at Mister A's
It was an awesome way to celebrate a friend's birthday. She loved the entire dinner and felt special. It's a beautiful view with great company and conversation.
So delicious...and the view was simply beautiful.
Server was not very welcoming. Didn’t introduce herself, didn’t mention the special. Was not familiar with the menu, didn’t know there’s kid’s dessert. Food served was not hot. Like it’s been sitting awhile. Flavor was not there either, very bland or too sweet. Overall it was very disappointing especially the service. Terrible. Would not recommend.
Went for my husbands birthday. Wonderful food and service.
Jerry always makes dining a wonderful experience!
Best place to eat at without a question, @kiddkaelan there’s a video of the type of vibe that it was! Amazing, service was amazing, the view was amazing, and the food of course was amazing!
Great place, food and service. Only beware, they charge a Reservation cancelations fee of $50.00 person. They also charge a service fee so that plus the tip, it adds fast. You are paying for a good part of the waiters minimum wage with the service fee in addition to the tip going to the waiter.
Wonderful experience all around!
Couldn’t have asked for more on our first anniversary.
Had a birthday brunch, as always staff was very attentive to every detail.
We celebrated our 35th year anniversary and had an incredible experience. The food, ambiance, and service truly assisted in us in having a memorable evening.
Great food and great service.
Always a pleasure to eat here.
Wine was superb too.
We enjoyed our time ay Mister A's. We celebrated a birthday and they were very gracious.
We planned to celebrate my moms 70th birthday at mister A’s a place that she had always wanted to go. The ambience and views were amazing but the service was no where near what o had remembered and the food was less than special. My brothers rib eye was cold and my pork chop was super fatty. There were no soup options on the menu as a starter and my mom wanted more than anything to have some type of shrimp and there no shrimp offerings that evening. The chef put together some pasta dish for her but it was very much an after thought. Very dissatisfied overall. Beautiful view and venue and cocktails were great.
We were very underwhelmed by our visit to Mister A's. It came highly recommended via articles and residents of San Diego. Therefore, we chose to spend our 25th Anniversary there. Booked ahead of time and gave this information but we barely even got a "Happy Anniversary" mentioned to us. Server was terrible! Not engaging, friendly or even knowledgable. Had to ask for specials and then she read them off a sheet of paper. A little suspect for a "high end" restaurant. Also, you better like seafood. Only other choice is a pork chop or a ribeye. Really....no tenderloin at a "high end" restaurant. Would not recommend to others nor visit the establishment again. Does not deserve the ratings I came across when researching.
Mister A’s was extravagant and delicious. Excellent customer service along with the exquisite taste of the food. The view of the city complimented the entire experience. Definitely recommend.
Great food and service
Beautiful location, but service was beyond slow and food arrived room temperature. Perhaps, Valentine’s weekend crowds were the reason...not sure. Very disappointing.
Loved the overall atmosphere and the service was truly incredible. It really made for a great evening.
Unbelievable view of Downtown San Diego and airport.
All the food was so wonderful and the experience was unforgettable.
Excelente vista, menú sensacional y carta de vinos excelente.
Sin embargo creo que fuimos tantos comensales que desatendieron los tiempos de los platillos y esti hizo que se nos sirviera frío y de forma muy tardada.
Una lástima de lugar.
My wife and I knew we were going to be in San Diego for a work conference this weekend for a few months. So in November, I did some research to find out the best, most romantic, and best views were in the city, as the first night of our conference was going to be Valentine's Day. Bertrand at Mister A's was my call and we were not disappointed. There was a four course Valentine's Day menu, with 3-4 choices for each category. We ordered different things from each other and each got the wine pairing. We went with their recommendations for the wines and that worked out very well. These are all smaller portions so this was not a crazy amount of food. My wife started with duck prosciutto, then had crab, then a squab hen and finished with a rhubarb tart. Her wines all went perfectly with her food. I had oysters (with champagne), butternut squash and sunchoke filled ravioli (with an amazing pinot noir), sautéed morrels (with a big Rhone red) and a lovely cheese (with a tawny port). We both loved our food. We both loved our wines. The service was spot on. The view here is amazing. There is a reason it is on the "100 best views of the country" list. It is a great view. The whole evening was lovely and we had a great time. I would come back here in a second. Loved it. Divine evening.
Went on Valentine’s Day for the prix fixe 4 course meal. One would expect to pay a bit more for this but the price did not reflect the value of the meal. $145/person plus 18% gratuity plus an unexplained included 4% surcharge. I had a sliver of duck that tasted like ham. Two small oysters, a crab leg and room temperature steak. The best thing of the night was the cheapest, a chocolate heart cake at the end. The overall taste of the food was just ok.
The server was great.
Great place for special occasions, amazing views. Bring a jacket, it's chilly outside.
Excellent service, food, the view was amazing. We went there for Valentine's day and even though they were busy, our service was excellent. Awesome wine list!
Prefix menu is overpriced with very small portions. Came on Valentine's Day with $145 per person. Good service and quality food
Awesome place to eat for a special occasion.
