We celebrated our 35th year anniversary and had an incredible experience. The food, ambiance, and service truly assisted in us in having a memorable evening.
Great food and great service.
Always a pleasure to eat here.
Wine was superb too.
We enjoyed our time ay Mister A's. We celebrated a birthday and they were very gracious.
We were very underwhelmed by our visit to Mister A's. It came highly recommended via articles and residents of San Diego. Therefore, we chose to spend our 25th Anniversary there. Booked ahead of time and gave this information but we barely even got a "Happy Anniversary" mentioned to us. Server was terrible! Not engaging, friendly or even knowledgable. Had to ask for specials and then she read them off a sheet of paper. A little suspect for a "high end" restaurant. Also, you better like seafood. Only other choice is a pork chop or a ribeye. Really....no tenderloin at a "high end" restaurant. Would not recommend to others nor visit the establishment again. Does not deserve the ratings I came across when researching.
Mister A’s was extravagant and delicious. Excellent customer service along with the exquisite taste of the food. The view of the city complimented the entire experience. Definitely recommend.
Great food and service
Beautiful location, but service was beyond slow and food arrived room temperature. Perhaps, Valentine’s weekend crowds were the reason...not sure. Very disappointing.
Loved the overall atmosphere and the service was truly incredible. It really made for a great evening.
Unbelievable view of Downtown San Diego and airport.
All the food was so wonderful and the experience was unforgettable.
Excelente vista, menú sensacional y carta de vinos excelente.
Sin embargo creo que fuimos tantos comensales que desatendieron los tiempos de los platillos y esti hizo que se nos sirviera frío y de forma muy tardada.
Una lástima de lugar.
My wife and I knew we were going to be in San Diego for a work conference this weekend for a few months. So in November, I did some research to find out the best, most romantic, and best views were in the city, as the first night of our conference was going to be Valentine's Day. Bertrand at Mister A's was my call and we were not disappointed. There was a four course Valentine's Day menu, with 3-4 choices for each category. We ordered different things from each other and each got the wine pairing. We went with their recommendations for the wines and that worked out very well. These are all smaller portions so this was not a crazy amount of food. My wife started with duck prosciutto, then had crab, then a squab hen and finished with a rhubarb tart. Her wines all went perfectly with her food. I had oysters (with champagne), butternut squash and sunchoke filled ravioli (with an amazing pinot noir), sautéed morrels (with a big Rhone red) and a lovely cheese (with a tawny port). We both loved our food. We both loved our wines. The service was spot on. The view here is amazing. There is a reason it is on the "100 best views of the country" list. It is a great view. The whole evening was lovely and we had a great time. I would come back here in a second. Loved it. Divine evening.
Went on Valentine’s Day for the prix fixe 4 course meal. One would expect to pay a bit more for this but the price did not reflect the value of the meal. $145/person plus 18% gratuity plus an unexplained included 4% surcharge. I had a sliver of duck that tasted like ham. Two small oysters, a crab leg and room temperature steak. The best thing of the night was the cheapest, a chocolate heart cake at the end. The overall taste of the food was just ok.
The server was great.
Great place for special occasions, amazing views. Bring a jacket, it's chilly outside.
Excellent service, food, the view was amazing. We went there for Valentine's day and even though they were busy, our service was excellent. Awesome wine list!
Prefix menu is overpriced with very small portions. Came on Valentine's Day with $145 per person. Good service and quality food
Awesome place to eat for a special occasion.
Such small portions for the special tasting. Flavors didn’t wow me. Pretty much paid for the view.
The best way to celebrate Valentine’s Day is to dine at Mr. A’s.
Won't return. Awful service. Food was sooo small and not well cooked.
We had a wonderful time at Mr. A'S for a Valentine's dinner. The food was very flavorful. The ambience was great and the staff was very courteous and friendly. Will definitely be back.
The service was excellent the food meh!!
Very slow service 2.5 hrs for 2 courses.
Took +15min to finally wave down the server to get another drink for my wife. Server was not observant.
The portions (app & entree) were much smaller compared to previous visits.
The duo of lamb was terrible. I was served a very small portion. The portion I was served was +50% chewy fat. When I pay ~$50 for a piece of meat at nice restaurant, I’m not expecting it to be smothered in Heinz 57 with a side of barbecue sauce.
The octopus appetizer was also disappointing. While the octopus itself was cooked perfect, the potato it sat on was way too greasy. Queso as the side sauce cheapens the dish and doesn’t work well.
We’ve dined at Mister A’s 4 times with 2 of the 4 experiences being negative. We will not be coming back nor recommending the restaurant to friends, family, or coworkers.
You have a great view, but the food is underwhelming. The restaurant should really consider hiring a new executive chef or a consulting chef to help.
Pre Valentine’s Day dinner was the occasion. We’ve been there before. The prefix menu was very expensive. Opted for the tritip steak but they didn’t have it. They replaced it with hangar steak. The steak was undercooked. Caesar salad was meh. Not sure if I will go again. It definitely was a step down in terms of experience and value.
Perfect night. Watched the sun set, planes landing, and water in distance. Special night for my birthday!
A wonderful, memorable meal for myself and my dear bride of 38 years. Food was prepared and presented beautifully and the view was breathtaking.
Celebrated bday evening with apr ex
Amazing experience food was absolutely delicious and out server was extremely professional and nice 👍🏻
Once we were seated all was well, but the reception is a little tough if you ou c8me to have a drink early. No place to go except a tiny bar ... full! So outside when it's 40+ degrees ... not! Anyway if you simply arrive in time for dinner all is well.
One of the ladies at the "check-in" desk was rude. There was, however, one woman - - an African-American lady - - who was so lovely. She made up for the nasty one. The nasty one had long brown hair, which was almost down to her waist.
You cannot beat the view. Everything else was mediocre at best.
The setting of this restaurant is beautiful. It is fun watching the planes come in. However, the service was horrible. We waited over an hour for our meals to get delivered to the table. We then had to rush through them so we could make it to the opera on time. We voiced our concerns several times while waiting for the meal and did not receive an apology from our waitress.
I expected better quality food, view was amazing
It was great service and awesome view
Experience was wonderful - spectacular views, great drinks and delicious food! Service was very attentive and appreciated - would absolutely return here again for special occasion or celebration!
It does not live up to the hype. There are many other restaurant choices that serve better food and better value. We saved this reservation for a Birthday celebration and used a $100 gift card-- the bill was $100 more and we had two appetizers, two entrees, two glasses of wine, and one cocktail. Over $200. My wife couldn't eat her pasta (vegetarian) dish--tough pasta with no sauce or flavor. My swordfish was lukewarm on a bed of cold tabouli. I didn't finish it. Mister A's has a wonderful view of the city and it looks like that's the main draw. If you prefer great food and stellar service, go elsewhere.
Was a absolutely wonderful view. Alot of kids there at the time being loud, but the host finally made them sit down. I was there to have a romantic evening to celebrate my birthday. Staff was super friendly and on top of everything. Food was excellent and correct. Desert for my birthday was wonderful and very professional. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for that little extra class that you just cant find anymore. Great place, wonderful staff, amazing food.
It was an amazing first time experience it was a family dinner and everything was absolutely outstanding we will be back
Took my father-in-law and family to celebrate his 90th birthday. The staff was great, the view was great, the cocktails were great, the food was fine but nothing special. The price is steep. The food was much better the last time we went in the fall.
