I was disappointed with the staff my friend and I went here on a friend date and I felt as if the workers were very rude and made us feel very unwelcomed. Other than that it was a fantastic view with good food.

Food was OK.... not great. Ordered Veal Chop and a Steak. Meat was prepared great. Sides were lack luster and additional sides ordered (Brussel Sprouts and Mac and Cheese) we not at all what we expected. Waiter (Michael) was fantastic and very accomodating. View unbelievable. Might go back and try the brunch menu.

Fabulous views and consistently excellent food. Mr. A’s is not a place once expects to be hurried but diners should feel attended to and that wasn’t the case. The waitstaff had to repeatedly be called over to the table and the bar is painfully slow.

Mr. A's is a San Diego landmark and legend. We took out of town guests there for lunch and the view and both were spectacular. I can think of no nicer way to show off our beautiful city than to take your guests or even just yourselves to Mr. A's for a wonderful culinary treat with the best restaurant view in the city. It is a bit pricey, but well worth it. . .treat yourself!

Seated late, food took 45 min (behind a large party). Didn’t get out of there until 10:30.

Extremely underwhelming. The notoriety for being an old school steakhouse with amazing views is overshadowed by the mediocre service and the smallest portions imaginable. The lunch entrees were more along the lines of tapas. Certainly opt for Rush Chris, Flemings, Donovan's where the lamb chops and other cuts of meat are impressive. Certainly not the case with the seemingly malnutrition version of the cuts of meat here. The cocktails were decent and would come in a reasonable turnaround time. However, if you ordered a Coke, not only would they forget to bring it initially, I believe they had a bus boy run several blocks to the nearest 7/11 each time one was ordered as it took in excess of 10 minutes each time, perhaps closer to 20 minutes.

The actual flavoring and taste of the entrée as well as the appetizers were okay overall, the poke was solid but when the waiter indicates its a chunk of tuna, it's literally just that 1.5 ounces for the appetizer maybe 2 oz. The breaded lobster bites were adequate for what they were as well.

The guest alongside me that had the duck was similar response as to the paragraph above as well as another that had the sea bass, which was probably the closest plate to being an entrée. The side dishes were on point, the brussels and mac and cheese. Fries were as to be expected.

Perhaps if you have never been, just go simply for a cocktail and maybe appetizer, if absolutely necessary, otherwise go with what you knows, such as the alternative always good options above.

Mister A's is our go to place for special meals. 13 miles away we can't go every day, but if we could we would. Parking is easy and underground and the waitstaff is always perfect.

This was our third time here after 2 previous excellent experiences. We were there for our wedding anniversary. We got our drink order pretty quickly but waited over half and hour for our food order to be taken and later for bread. We just did not feel that any attention was paid to us. Even the water refills were sparse and not filled at all at the end. The food was great as usual but we expect a much higher level of service at a restaurant of this caliber, especially after being treated so well previously. Unfortunately we would now think twice about going back there.

This is my second visit. It’s always a great experience. The service is exceptional, the food is excellent and the city scape/coastal vistas are gorgeous. Pretty cool to watch all the planes land as well. I will make this a stop every time I’m in San Diego.

This was not a positive experience. The expense did not equate to the food, selection or quantity. My wife and I ordered a wedge salad to split. When the salad came it consisted of 2 lettuce leaf's for my wife and 1 leaf for myself. To add insult to injury we were charged to split those leaf's. The salad dressing provided didn't even cover one leaf of lettuce. The main course was very good but sparse. What came with the main course were not sides but rather more of a garnish. We had to stop at a fast food restaurant on the way home to get something to eat.

all of the food and beverages were at the highest standard and quality. What disappointed us was that the waiter was dismissive and arrogant. We have had MANY other servers at Bertrand's ALL of whom were Excellent. This was an anomaly and hopefully not the waiters normal behavior.

Starts your time with a big smile! Beautiful table with views of bay, runway and ocean.
Best waiter; Gerry in town who is incredibly good at what he does and always goes the extra mile! Celebrations are perfect here and lunch really special. We have marked this restaurant up there with Marine room as a place for celebrations .

The sun was setting and cast a vibrant glow on the buildings of downtown San Diego, with the beautiful blue bay in the background. The view was incomparable, and only surpassed by the delicious food and the impeccable service. My only complaint is that this restaurant is 6 hours from my house. I will definitely be patronizing Mr. A’s every time I ‘m in San Diego.

The view on the terrace is beautiful!
The staff was amazing, polite and respectful with an excellent vibe.
I got for dinner one of the specials it was delicious...my husband did not like his first choice and they exchange his dish for another one with no complain...that paella was amazing!
I definitely recommend this place. And we are sure to return!

From the moment we drove in and a wonderful greeting from Sam in valet parking our special lunch began. Upon reaching the restaurant the receptionist greeted us and we were seated in a beautiful spot over looking the runway of San Diego International Airport! Our waiter; Jerry was a professional and explained the menu, was extraordinary and a real asset to Mr. A’s. We will come again many times and know we will always have a fabulous time!

Not a very large bar... we had come early for a cocktail but the space really is not conducive for that.

Can’t say enough about the atmosphere and service. We were on our honeymoon and got a pretty nice seating location. Loss of one star comes from the Host attempting to push in my wife’s chair and trying to break her knee caps on the table, which simultaneously brought the extension underneath the table down. It was an honest mistake, but nobody ever apologized or tried to make up for it. Loss of the other star comes from the bill. We’re all about spending good money on good food, but it seemed we were nickeled and dimed on the bill. From $1.50 for extra olives in our martini, to a $22 side of vegetables. The main dishes should be expensive enough to cover small additions at no charge and seeing it on the bill seems unfriendly and practically uncouth.

Went to the July 4th 8:30 pm seating to enjoy the food and watch the fireworks. We arrived a bit early, so were seated outside to wait. Not offered any food or drinks while we waited. We were given options for seating, and chose to eat outside. No heater available for our seating area, however! Food was fantastic, although not as hot as it should have been by the time it reached us. Service was interrupted during the fireworks. Expected much more for the price.
