We love Mr As! Beautiful view, Great service, outstanding ambiance. Dessert could be better tho.
Everything and everyone was wonderful! Looking forward to the next visit.
Not right to lie! We sat inside and saw that there were 3 tables outside that were open so we asked if we could move outside because of the beautiful view and weather. We were told we could, if they are open. When they asked the front desk, they said that they were all booked which we understood. No one or party were sat at the those tables the whole time we were there. We were there until close time. Pretty much they lied which was irritating and rude. I would of wished they were honest....
Absolutely fabulous dinner at sunset on the balcony. Highly recommended for any and all!!
Mr. A’s has been over the top perfection since Bertrand took over the establishment! Service, ambiance, food, view, wine list, and cocktails are always amazing.
It’s a must for anyone who visits San Diego! You will LOVE it!
Lovely evening. Good food, great service. Not sure why they seated us in the back. There was plenty of room. My husband enjoyed his birthday dinner and I’m happy about that. It was not our first time at Mr A’s.
Always a treat tho visit Mr. A’s and they never disappoint. Very accommodating to make a special request lobster tail dish
Great atmosphere - staff could have been more attentive.
Our party of six was very happy with our experience at Mister A's. The atmosphere was lively but not too noisy, the service was outstanding and the food was excellent. Thank you for creating such a lovely evening for us.
The place was quite empty to our luck. We did however make reservations just in case. We had the brunch and it was beautiful and delicious! Service was wonderful and very attentive. A great place for a special occasion and a romantic date. The views are the selling point along with the food! A great staple for San Diego!
We sat outside on the patio during sunset. The staff made us feel so spoiled and were very detail oriented. The food was amazing! Loved the bone marrow.
Service was outstanding, foodie level: high, views are 10/10
Ambiance is fairly quiet, views are great. Service had two mistakes, first we asked for ice water but got sparkling water, second we were served the bread the table next to us ordered (gluten free bread) both mistakes were quickly corrected. Starter hot mussels had a delicious taste and cooked well. For entrée we had duck and salmon, duck had very good flavor and the salmon's taste was not up to par for the price, side of corn cream is really good for those that like corn. For dessert we had very dry brownie bites with ice cream (name is chocolate and cherry) again not up to par. Drinks were delicious and affordable, I would come back to try different dishes.
Visiting from out of town, we enjoyed a pre-theater dinner. The food, service and ambience were superlative. Everything exceeded and our expectations. The very accommodating staff even brought sunglasses for those at our outdoor table who had not anticipated the bright early evening sun in our eyes. We greatly appreciated this thoughtful gesture which got our experience off to a good start. Our only regret was that we did not have time for dessert. Our party of six ordered different entrees and appetizers, and all of us were happy with our choices - which were creative but not over-the-top and delicious.
Best view in San Diego for dinner... Food was ok/good compared to the gourmet price tag. Staff was lovely. It's a one time stop but the view once again is amazing.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary and had a truly special evening! The food was excellent--especially the lobster appetizer; and the filet for our main course was cooked perfectly and superbly complimented by the side dishes. We had champagne with our lobster and then a truly lovely cabernet with our dinner. The service was perfection--our wine steward suggested two different champagnes for tasting, and recommended a lovely red for our main course. Our waitress was delightful--very accommodating to some food allergies, and congratulating us on our anniversary. It was the perfect way to celebrate!
The inexperienced service made the difference for us. The location is still excellent with the views of the San Diego coastline, harbor and airport and the food is very good. Although he seemed to be very motivated when he was around, our server was not that knowledgeable about the menu and made promises that he didn't even try to keep. Unfortunately, Mr. A's standards have declined somewhat and our experience was somewhat disappointing.
Exceeded our expectations for food and ambiance. We will definitely return.
Great location with the best views in San Diego.
Awesome as always! Been going here for 17 years and will continue to do so.
The view of the city below, airplanes in the distance on their approach to the airport , a spectacular sunset and a creative and varied menu....it was a very special evening. The servers were attentive, knowledgable and pleasant. Don't miss the lobster strudel appetizer and although our dinner choices were delicious and filling, we could not miss trying their desserts. Fresh strawberries on chiffon cake were the best berries I've tasted all season. They were from Chino Farms which is known for the most flavorful produce in Southern California. Bertrand at Mister A's is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or just luxuriate in the sights and tastes of San Diego.
The food was awful. I dont like the menu at all. Get a new one!!!
Wendy was exceptionally. Great service.
My husband’s birthday
Spectacular views. Amazing service. Bland food.
Phenomenal at all levels, except one of our main courses. The lamb was extremely fatty and actually almost all fat. I didn’t complain because everything else was perfect. My husbands scallops were to-die-for. Just watch out.
When main courses were served, they were only slightly warm. We complained and they totally redid our entrees and then comped us for those plates. Food, when returned was excellent. Overall, no complaint.
While this place is lovely and the service is excellent, it is overpriced and the portions are small. We ordered the cheese platter which was one thinly sliced piece of cheese with about 4 crackers and a fig cut into 4 slices. The side portions that come with the main dish are tiny. I consider myself a foodie and I was not completely over all impressed with the flavorings of the food. Nothing we had was completely outstanding or exceptionally flavored. We ordered the halibut and prime rib. We also ordered another appetizer with beets and berries, which was actually the best item even though again the portion was tiny. We are big chocoholics and ordered the chocolate dessert but again it was nothing to write home about, although it was pretty. The view is lovely. My suggestion is go for happy hour and you can sit outside and see the same setting without the high cost of dinner.
Third time here and second for brunch.
Great view and great food for a reasonable price.
Love it and will come again!
Fantastic dining with an over the top view of the San Diego skyline
Food, service and view- excellent, superb, top notch. Love this San Diego Restaurant. Delicious food creations always changing. Service is impeccable. A go to venue for all occasions. They go the extra mile to enhance all dining experiences.
Outstanding service & etiquette! Great recommendations!
Love this place. Food is awesome service impeccable and of course the view is the best
We ate outside on the deck. The views are to die for. The food was outstanding are our service was very good. The wine list is very nice. Overall a wonderful experience for a special night.
Beautiful and iconic place. We dined here ten years ago the week that we got married and returned this week for the nostalgia and amazing view and food. We will be back!
I would recommend Mister A’s because the staff, food, drinks, service and view were all fantastic. It cost $500 for three people with no wine.
It was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. My dad had such a wonderful dinner to commemorate his 98th birthday.
I ordered the tasting menu which was disappointing. The first course was minuscule in quantity consisting of a few mushy berries and three pieces of beet with a tsp. Of “goat cheese ice cream”. The main course was delayed almost an hour. Just before it was served a waiter rushed to the table with a citrus ice in champagne hastily removed before the main courses were serve. The main courses were good however.
My dessert of “carrot cake” was stale and hard as though it was frozen and thawed. Our complimentary dessert of a meringue concoction was old and chewy hard so that we could not eat it.
I have had very good food and service during past visits, so I am very sad to experience poor quality and service this time.
I don’t know if I will be brave enough to return to pay generously for sub par quality.
