We picked up our dinner and it was scrumptious! We highly recommend BSC, especially the calamari which was the best I've ever had :)
What a pleasant surprise to discover Berkeley Social Club! I was looking for a restaurant near the Freight & Salvage Theatre that would be open after 9pm for my family and friends to celebrate my album release. Everything was wonderful: service, ambiance, food. It was great!
Delicious lunch in downtown Berkeley! Bike parking right in front, too! Service was attentive, not intrusive. Going back soon!
Food was delicious. It was a busy place - it was Valentine's Day. The staff were friendly and service was prompt. Enjoyed our dinner.
This establishment has found a very happy medium between Korean and American cuisines. Each dish is prepared soulfully and with fresh ingredients. The menu is diverse and includes something for everyone. The ambience is warm and inclusive and includes a full bar with great and creative drinks. A bit noisy but not annoying. A truly “Gem” of the Bay Area Should be on your bucket list of restaurants!
Visited during Restaurant Week, trying meat and non-meat set options. Attractive presentations, served sizzling, good use of sauces, filling. Very busy on a Monday, noise level went down by 8 PM. Good drink menu.
Great food and quick service. The restaurant wasn't very full when we were there for lunch, but I have no reason to expect the experience to be different.
Berkeley Social Club was a nice surprise to find last week, within walking distance of The Berkeley Rep. We were seated promptly upon our arrival and the staff was accommodating, getting us in and out in plenty of time to be seated at our show. We enjoyed the Korean American blend of flavors, sharing the shrimp sticks as an appetizer (outstanding) and Curry Noodles with KFC, and Udon Saute' as our main courses. All delicious, and more than enough. Our server was excellent, taking care of us even though the house was full and bustling. Recommend getting a reservation, as there were plenty of people waiting for tables as we left.
This was my third visit to Berkeley Social Club - during dinner during restaurant week on this visit. The experience on this visit was not nearly as good as previous visits during breakfast, for the food, service and ambiance. Breakfasts are fantastic - this dinner was fine but I likely wouldn't return for dinner. Saturday evenings are a bit of a madhouse - and really loud. Not a relaxing dinner spot but probably great for more boisterous group dinners.
The food was great: an interesting mix of American and Korean comfort food.
Limited menu but everything was very tasty. Noise level is a bit much for the elder crowd. Concrete walls, floor and loud music.
Food was great. Some of the nicest and most efficient staff in the east bay!
I love this place. Great selection of beers on tap and their food is AMAZING. Especially their Dino foot ✨🔥
It's ok, nothing special as the reviews made it out to be. Casual dining.
I came here with my spouse and teenage kids. We had a fun meal together. The portion sizes are generous, so both kids took some food home. My main complaint is how loud it is. The tables are wide, so you need to lean in to hear people on the other side of the table. The service is adequate, but not great. They only checked back with us one time, and we had to flag them down for the check. It's busy with a generally young crowd.
Group dinner
One of our dishes was tasty; the other meh. We found it hard to communicate with our server about serious food sensitivities, although service was otherwise good. We don’t plan to go back.
Very casual place. Bulgogi should have had a flavorful sauce. That would have made it better.
The happy hour on a saturday was a real surprise and there are both drinks and eats. We tried the app sampler and everything was fried and heavy but we liked the fish balls. The pimped up ramen was good and so were the tacos. Great vibe and location. We will be back.
Met up with a group of friends for food and drinks before a show at the Greek. We mainly sampled shareable dishes which were good. We arrived during happy hour which made the drinks a bit more affordable but otherwise would have been overpriced for the quality.
Pretty restaurant, but it’s a noisy place inside. Great service with friendly waitstaff. Friend chicken was amazing, but the rest of the entrees were only ok. I would go back for chicken wings and beer!
We came after a Cal game and had a delicious meal. The seafood style soup was tasty, and if you're looking for fairly authentic kimchi, this place has it. We're not "hot heads" though; so we asked for mild and not spicy dishes. There's a special style of cooking "burnt rice" and we haven't had that except with friend home cooking, probably because public perception for those not-in-the-know would not be favorable. But the cooks here know how to make it with "iron pot" style, and we really enjoyed it. Main dish portions were generous.
Hot flavorful food quick Service amazing wait staff
With everything from cheeseburgers to beef bulgogi scrambled eggs, the Berkeley Social Club is an eclectic delight!
We each tried different entrees & loved them all. The Gooey Corn appetizer was awesome! Most of the staff were very friendly, a couple were not...at all. Our son just moved in to the Cal dorms & we know we'll eat here again when we visit.
I had the burger which was perfectly done - medium rare. My friend had the BLT which he said could be the best BLT he's ever had.
Good location for going to Berkeley Greek Theater after
The service was really bad waiter never talked to us we waited Along time
Undercooked eggs, made me feel sick. Presentation was good though.
We went for breakfast. I ordered the Pajun Pancake! It was so so good. I can't wait to go back. Also, the Snowbird coffee they serve was outstanding. Top-notch from start to finish.
My first time having Chicken Mango Sausage - delicious! It was offered as part of a Benedict or a Scramble. I love Benedicts and BSC has 6 different Benedicts to choose among. I will go back to try different menu items. The only drawback is the giant room with bench seating around the perimeter amplifies the noise in the restaurant. It got noisy quickly on a Friday afternoon.
All food was great, very good draft beer selection. Staff is always pleasant, efficient and friendly.
First time at the Berkeley Social club and it was a hit. Their tacos were incredible and their wings are even more so. Definitely recommend it!
Eclectic interesting menu with a tasty variety of foods and drinks well prepared, beautifully presented and well-priced. We highly recommend the Sludgehammer cocktail made with beet juice, rosemary and gin! And the gorgeous seafood platter.
The room itself is too big and bare to provide a cozy charming dinner setting. And of course, the big room unpadded by furnishings and niceties like tablecloths and seat cushions make the room extra clatteringly noisy.
But for a flavorful dinner before the movies or a play at nearby theaters, the Berkeley Social Club strikes a good middle note between low-end Berkeley student grub and high-end Berkeley gourmet preciousness.
Interesting Korea-meets-hipster menu. Service could have been more attentive (it took a while to get refills and to get our check). Portions are large— consider sharing.
Oh my God, the Club Moco bested any Loco Moco I have ever eaten in the Islands! Great job!!!
I was referred by some close friends. Thank you!
This place had super good food!! I had the Ahi Bene. AWESOME!! My hubby had the Pajun pancake with poached egg. Now This dish was AMAZING! A must try~
My wife and I shared the appetizer platter at happy hour for $18 and it was enough food for the two of us. Very tasty!
Would not go back. Very expensive for what you get. $18 for 2 eggs scramble with little vegetables. They tried to fill up your plate with toast and potatoes. Service was lacking and I had to ask for coffee and water refill. There are better breakfast places in the area for less.
Food and ambiance were excellent! Would definitely go back.
