Food outstanding! I had the bratwurst and my husband had the trout with smoked catfish chowder. My bratwurst with the best grits ever and shaved Brussel sprouts was like nothing I'd ever had. My husband couldn't stop raving about the smoked catfish. You can bet we'll be going back!
The provisions plate (charcuterie) was the best I’ve had in Asheville. Not to be missed. I had trout. Delicious. My husband had pork chops. Tender and great flavor. We took part of our dinners because we were full. Ate on the back patio because of COVID. We were perfectly comfortable and felt really safe. Go support this restaurant and have a great meal!
What a jewel Benne on Eagle is in the Asheville restaurant scene!
My husband and I were entertaining a special out of town guest recently and we knew Benne on Eagle would be especially meaningful to her. We went to Sunday brunch and had a delightful experience! The cuisine was delicious and innovative. Our server could not have been more helpful and accommodating. It was definitely a noteworthy experience! As an aside, we were grateful and impressed with the extent of social distancing and careful attention during this time. Thank you!
What once was my favorite restaurant in AVL is now a major disappointment.
With the change in chef, the soul is gone.
The first clue was an Aperol citrus spritzer on the cocktail list in February. True, there are clueless tourists here in summer cotton dresses, but that is best served in July when you want to drink all day and not progress past a pleasant buzz.
I ordered “Pork three ways”... Like the saying goes, someone is always left out in a three-way. Unfortunately, it was me.
It came with raw Brussels sprouts, not pickled. And it was in a bowl and covered in gravy. The menu said nothing about a gravy! I gag when food is served this way. And the pork rind which was the third “way” was a powdered crumble. Honey, that’s a garnish. It was a hot mess that was promptly sent away.
The new pastry person kept the Hummingbird cake on the menu.... dangerous considering how amazing the old version was. If the “Fudgesicle” that is the only other dessert is any indication, I should have bought that box of Girl Scout cookies on the corner. Not good.
Ashleigh, we miss you. To everyone else, we won’t be back.
100% perfection in every sense of the word. Just fantastic.
Birthday meal.
Great food
Food was overpriced. Oven baked chicken and fries $30. Food was adequate but not worth pricing. Also I didn’t have the gumbo, but shitake and chutney doesn’t belong in gumbo. Staff was kind and place is beautiful. Great location just overpriced food
Just went for a glass of wine and dessert. The staff was so friendly! Dessert was okay, got the brownie (should have been warmed) and the cheesecake (fresh raspberry sauce was delicious!). It was very well lit, too much for our liking but that’s okay. Love the design of the restaurant!
Loved our visit to Benne. Excellent service, terrific food. The pea and bacon soup was outstanding, as was the beet salad. Chicken and frites was a great twist on steak frites, with delicious collards done just right, and a duck jus. The wines were lovely, as well. Rasberry cheesecake for dessert - yum! I enjoyed the peaceful, quiet ambiance so we could hear each other talk. We sat outside, and the Covid precautions made us all feel very safe and cared for.
Top notch southern food. An absolute delicacy. Corina the manager checked up on us and ensured our experience was perfect. That level of care goes a long way for me and my wife.
Awesome meal. The trout was exquisite. Our waiter Nehemiah took great care of us. This was the kind of southern comfort I was looking for when I came to Asheville. Did not disappoint a single bit.
Food as fabulous. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable an helpful on our first visit.
My wife and I dined here on a recent weekend in Asheville. We had been to Rhubarb(same owner) and liked it so we gave Benne a try. Everything was top notch. Brandon our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had wings and mac and cheese to start, both were fabulous. I had gumbo and it was as good as I’ve ever had. Less of a soup and more of a dish. My wife had pork chops. They were tender and juicy. The dining area was well spaced and comfortable. We will definitely be back.
Great experience with Breakfast at Benne on Eagle. Alexis was our server and she was very nice and great with her recommendations. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Just not worth it. Like eating straight salt. Everything "recommended" was awful.
Our menu items were outstanding - the shrimp purloo was so flavorful, with unique tastes and textures. The plump large shrimp were cooked to perfection! The service was excellent-very warm and knowledgeable server.
Great food! Definitely recommend the cornbread, macaroni and cheese, and the pork chops!! Great ambience sitting outside. Went for Valentine’s Day dinner, and the lighting, scenery, outdoor heaters made for a great evening!
The food and service were amazing!
Delicious authentic southern food and expertly cooked and spiced. Surprisingly a long wait for the plates to arrive since the restaurant is only half full due to Covid capacity rules. But well worth it altogether. Great staff and warm convivial atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.
We were there for Valentine's Day Brunch and it was very enjoyable. The menu specials were excellent and they had $5 mimosas that day. The waitress was very pleasant and diligent. Great atmosphere, beautiful and bright modern space.
Valentine’s Day brunch with my love
The menu was very limited with not a lot to choose from. I had the gumbo which was ok- the wings were good
Wonderful food and wonderful service! Such a quaint and lovely restaurant!
Amazing!! Go here!
I noticed on this (my third visit in 2+ years) that there are a few servers who have been at Benne since the restaurant's inception. They are fabulous! Also don't miss the generous charcuterie board with the heavenly pork rind. Tip: take a brimmed hat in case you are seated in a spot directly under a light. Otherwise the ambience is lovely.
Spectacular food! We got the Valentine’s Day price fixe menu. Every single dish was delicious and cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were for the gods. I have never had such creamy and delicious mashed potatoes. The prime rib was cooked to perfection. Tables were spaced out and service was excellent. Highly highly recommend!
I absolutely loved this place! We were in town for the weekend and ended up making reservations here and I am so glad we did. The flavors in the food are out of this world. Don't let the menu scare you if it is outside your usual realm of taste. The flavorful food and drink menu will delight your taste buds! My husband and I both got a full entree and it is really enough to split and maybe get another side dish to round things out. Whatever you do, don't forget dessert!!
Great breakfast, and look forward to the next time. My husband loved the pancakes, and I enjoyed my country ham eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was sublime. Only suggestion-serve the coffee hot. It was merely warm on a cold, rainy morning.
Best place we ate at during our weekend trip to Asheville. Food was phenomenal. Staff was incredibly welcoming, warm, and helpful.
I hate to give a bad review in a pandemic but wow...; just not very good. Service was spotty. I’m a vegetarian and understand that will limit my options on occasion. But in Asheville? The menu had zero vegetarian options beyond Mac and cheese (very good) and a salad. That’s ok but asked if I could order some vegetable side dishes the answer was no. No creativity, no flexibility, no options... that’s ok, read the menu and make a call. I won’t recommend or return.
The Valentine special menu was excellent!
We had a delicious meal here. Seemed like an elevated southern style menu. Highly recommend the wings appetizer, pork chops and trout.
Benne exceeded our expectations! We ordered the Mac & cheese and cornbread with duck fat butter to start. Both were very tasty! For our mains we had the pork chop with potatoes (fantastic) and the turkey gumbo (delicious, deconstructed). We finished with the awesome bourbon chocolate bread pudding! Service was fantastic throughout our visit.
FANTASTIC food, service, and I especially appreciated the creativity and thought that went into each dish. We have never had food quite like that before- I love food that makes me think and tells a story. Very well done Chef!
Very tasty meal with extremely pleasant service!!
We loved the place! Gumbo, salad and pork chop. Huge portions all around. We took home almost 1/3 for another great meal.
Brandon was an awesome waiter! The manager is so kind and thoughtful. Great crew doing great things! One of the best in Asheville!
The cuisine is inspired! Enjoyed Brandon’s service and guiding us with wine pairings.
We had a wonderful mealtime exp
