Food was great, not a very romantic restaurant. Everyone was friendly.
We ate supper and followed up our terrific experience with Brunch the next morning.
My favorite dish during supper- hands down- was the Livers and Pickles appetizer. I could have eaten an entire plate of those chicken livers! Delicious!
The potlikker wings and the Mac n Cheese were great as well!
My husband loved the trout and smoked scallop dish.
The terrific wait staff presented my mother-in-law with a slice of the delicious Sweet Potato Benne Chess Pie for her 66th birthday.
We enjoyed our dinner so much, we returned for brunch the following morning. The pork & grits were so yummy! The sour corn was a fantastic touch. The biscuits and jam were to die for as well! I can’t rave about this place enough!
The chef did the best he could with a poor cut of meat. One of three bites were great, the other bites were full of gristle and not eatable.
Drink service poor, mixed drinks came out before the wine? Wine arrived warm.
Ordered a side of Mac n Cheese and it was great, it just came out when were were half way into the entree
The food and service was excellent. Benne is a wonderful part of the culinary scene in Asheville.
We were so rushed. Had appetizers and dinner in 37 minutes. No time to enjoy. Salad dressing had zero flavor. Would not go back.
This was our second visit toBenne On Eagle for breakfast through the Foundry Hotel. Our first experience there was not a good one, however, we tried them again the next day and our experience was so much better. Our table was ready at the time of our reservation, Our waitress was very attentive, the food was very good. Overall a much better experience than we had the day before.
After not being able to get reservations at other Steak houses we found Benne on Eagle and are so glad we did! The atmosphere is open somewhat like a brew house but there was almost no noise. I think I would describe the menu as Southern Comfort food. I had the sort ribs over grits and it was great. The meat pulled apart and I honestly did know it was grits until my wife told me, I thought it was mash potatoes. Buttery, creamy, and smooth, and I don’t like the traditional grits, but this won me over. My brother who lives in Hickory and was dining with us, told me this is how they make down South and I really enjoyed them. My wife and brother both had the skirt steak and booth agreed it was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was very pleasant and on point. Would defiantly eat there again!
Truly a special place, with history, location, a super talented chef and of course wonderful food!
Alexis made the evening so much more fun with her effervescent personality. We all enjoyed her recommendations on the menu and were so happy to sit outside on such a lovely fall evening.
OUTSTANDING!!! We were celebrating our honeymoon and the food was AMAZING! From the fried okra to the roasted chicken!!! And that hummingbird cake?!! HOLY CANNOLI! We got to meet Chef Ashleigh and she is TALENTED & so kind. She even treated us to celebratory desserts! And the music in the restaurant?? A WHOLE VIBE. AMAZING. we will be back TOMORROW for breakfast!
Service was terrible which ruined the fact that the food was decent
We went for breakfast as guests of The Foundry Hotel. The worst service (or lack thereof) we’ve probably ever had. We saw our waiter exactly one time. He appeared to be extremely put off to be working...it was obvious just by watching him. Our food (along with several others) sat under warming lights for over ten minutes. Our coffee cups were empty and we were never once offered a refill. No idea where the waiter was. When he finally appeared he seemed extremely confused about what food went to what table. Someone else came over and did it for him and he disappeared again. Maybe he was really a dishwasher or something? No idea. Felt bad for the cook bc he was the only one who seemed to have his act together. It was the biggest ripoff of $30 ever (we each had two eggs -cold by the time we got them - three pieces of bacon, one piece of toast, one cup of coffee), but the service is what really make the experience abysmal.
Waitstaff is very slow & inattentive, food was burnt & overpriced. With so many wonderful places in Asheville this one is worth walking by.
Meal timing was completely off. Our appetizer arrived before our cocktail. Not even sure if the app was supposed to be hot or not. Our entrees arrived before we finished the appetizer and before our wine arrived. We mentioned it to the server and suggested she mention it to the manager. She didn’t seem concerned and the manager did not make a table visit. I suppose the food was delicious although the entrees also were not hot so it was hard to really tell. Disappointed especially based on what we had heard and paid.
The trout and corn spoon bread was beyond delightful. Loved topping off the dinner with the fig bread pudding. Wish there were more vegetable offerings as side dishes.
We stayed in the Foundry and used the Restaurant daily for breakfast as a benefit of a Diamond Member. The Restaurant seemed to be under staffed daily which lead to my lower service rating. Otherwise the restaurant was clean and the food was good.
This restaurant waas VERY good. We will definitely be back. Curious what the experience would be in a non-covid world -- the did a very enjoyable and creative job given the constraints!
I had a young server that sat us outside and checked on us maybe twice before bringing the bill. Even the other server asked if we’d been helped while we waited for our drinks (they ran out of Bloody Mary mix also).
As some one who has eaten at hip and trendy restaurants throughout the country, this was actually something so different, in the best way! Picture stick-to-your-ribs southern food with an African flair! The ambience and beautiful and the food is fantastic! And many of these trendy, high-end restaurants tend to skimp on portion sizes were perfect!
Early birthday dinner
It was Average
We came the foraged items from No Taste Like Home tour. The chef created an amazing dish with our items and the chef came to our table to explain. We also have restrictions to our diets. They recreated some of the entrees to fit our needs. It was all delicious and beautifully presented
Everything was wonderful from the most delicious meal to the fabulous server (Jessica) to the beautiful outdoor dining space. We can not wait for our next trip to Asheville as we will make this lil gem a dining must!
This restaurant was a terrific surprise to this couple of snotty east coast foodies -- first in that it was Carib-style and second that it was just an all-around terrific experience. I had the blackened redfish, lobster thermidor (5-star!), coconut shrimp (likewise), and callaloo soup and couldn't have found any better. Handsome and vibrant (industrial) setting, great staff, excellent drinks and wine, and a talented chef -- Tulsa is lucky to have this little gem.
Mad scientist with pasta! Very innovative ravioli with beets. Maybe not the greatest ravioli I ever had, but enjoyed the how the chef's version of ravioli complimented the unusual vegetable and all cooked perfectly. Wife's more traditional pasta with a pork based sauce was terrific. Best of all, picked an unknown italian wine from the list and was treated to a 10 year old red with acidity and fruit that was perfect with pasta. Well-done!
We had great service and the food was amazing!!! Highly recommend! They have recently opened and still working out some things but, we thought everything seems great!
Great food and service
Really good Menu options, with somethings we had never tried before. Well worth a visit!
Beautiful venue and excellent food
This was my first time in Asheville and I wanted to support Benne on Eagle in support of Ashleigh Shanti. Let me just say that the service and attentiveness of the staff was AMAZING. My friends and I had a HORRIBLE experience at PILLAR Rooftop Bar the night before and our experience for brunch at Benne on Eagle definitely changed our view on the Asheville dining experience. We were promptly greeted upon arrival at Benne of Eagle, walked to our table, provided the needed items for dining and informed about the different items on the menu when asked. The staff was friendly, willing to help if needed, came to our table multiple times to ask how the food was and presented everything with a smile. I was celebrating my birthday and even the other customers were friendly enough to sing "Happy Birthday" to me and even wish me a happy birthday prior to them departing. The ambiance was REMARKABLE. We sat on the patio area that was greeted with great scenery and landscape. Even while outside the weather was amazing and the decor was impeccable. There was heating on the patio which made the experience comfortable and enjoyable. We laughed with the staff throughout our entire time and when we expressed any dissatisfaction with our meal (which was minimal) they immediately addressed the issue. Even other servers came over to say kind words to our group! I will definitely be back. Thanks Benne on Eagle!!!!
We have a great experience. The food was delicious. We will be back for sure.
Amazing food on a beautiful patio. We especially enjoyed the cabbage pancake, okra, and smoked scallops. The service here is fantastic, too. What a lovely evening!
Incredible little find in Asheville...recommending to anyone and everyone I know that visits. Food is phenomenal (get the oxtails), drinks are spot on (cardamom and banana is incredible) and service was exceptional.
Enjoyed a good meal on a limited menu due to COVID most likely. Several of the dishes we had looked forward to were not available. The platter with pickled vegetables and chicken liver mousse was extremely good, definitely shareable. The trout and scallops highlighted the trout. The scallops were an unusual texture, very dense almost like octopus and were a little lost in the dish. All in all, a good meal but not one of our best for this trip.
30 $ for a flank steak, 3 roasted fingerling potatoes and a teaspoon of greens was a tad pricey even for Asheville. We had to ask to have our water refilled. Our waiter, after we asked to split the tab for 2 couples put the wine on our tab without splitting or asking. All in all it was a mediocre night out. Been there done that, don't think we will return or recommend.
delicous food, great back patio area and outstanding service!
Service was wonderful! Staff there makes the place what it is!
This was our second time to visit and it was just as amazing as the first. Truly delicious food. Only good thing about social distancing is the next table was not close enough to hear me mmming over everything. I couldn't help myself it was that good.
Delicious food! Waitstaff wore masks and table seatings were socially distant. The food arrived really quickly. My husband's beer was flat, and it was replaced quickly and at no charge. Great overall experience. We will be back.
Street side brunch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Reilly, our waitress was awesome. Will go back.
